Our comfort zone
We can get so comfortable living the same place, working in the same area (in front of the computer), and meeting the same kind of people year after year. The only activities that introduce us to the outside world are the television programs or the magazines in the doctor's office.
Why travel ?
Travelling to some new place opens us to new adventures. We meet new people, eat from different menus, experience other cultures. From the booking of the flight or the cruise, a new excitement comes upon us and just the planning to do different things makes a pleasurable experience for family and friends.
What are the options?
The options are too numerous to list and people enjoy adventures when the destination is different from what they are accustomed to. People on the steps of a cathedral in Spain could never understand why I just could not stop taking photos, and I am amused when tourists can't get enough of the beach and the food in my country. There are tours, music festivals, historic sites, food festivals, trips to museums and memorable experiences learning dances all over the world . There are people speaking different languages, with interesting customs.
What is holding us back ?
Many persons will name a lack of funds as the problem. We can always plan long term and save towards a trip, based on our budget. The learning and the experience is likely to be far more valuable than the money sitting in the bank. Having travelled, we will return with new perspectives and life will never be the same.
I am leaving my comfort zone for a few days next Wednesday and I am looking forward to a great time. When is your next trip?

We agree! A lifetime of working all over the world has brought us to beautiful Ecuador where we have found our permanent home. We enjoy learning and speaking Spanish as well. That is another journey.
We still need an income, however, and WA is the key for us as we can do that from here. What a wonderful platform.

We live on a fixed income so that is not much money to plan on a trip so we just live paycheck to paycheck for the time being. I am working hard to get things moving along to start bringing in money.

But Joy, my comfort zone IS traveling!
So far this year, my wife calculated, we have boarded 27 flights! 8 different US airports, 5 countries outside the US. Yes, travel is in our lifeblood....
Next we're driving down to the Phoenix area for a long weekend, then at the beginning of July, we'll fly to Michigan for 8 days.
Our next BIG travel isn't yet decided. We've talked about one Mexican beach or another in the fall, perhaps Tucson for a week or so,
So, we're definitely going to be traveling again before the year is out; just not yet sure when or where!
