In other words, will my credibility matter in the long run in writing a blog, and should I stick with a niche that I am already very knowledgeable in? I am wondering if content

You either need to be passionate about your topic or you need to be prepared to do a lot of research. When you don't know a lot about a topic, it can show in your writing so I would always say go with what you know :)

Thanks for the response! It sounds like there is a lot of writing over time. It makes sense then to have a good handle on the subject. Thankns again.

If your not really passionate about what your writing about, your will not last very long before you get bored with it.

Content is everything, you don't need to be n expert but you do need to be passionate about your niche because you are going to need to write a lot about your niche
Setting up a website is easy making one that is successful and popular with your readers and google is not

The only people who really ever make any money with their blogs are the ones who produce a lot of high quality content on a regular basis

Most people will not admit this but making money blogging is hard work and take time

Find you passion and then you will be fine, I am into WordPress, I love my niche I write 1000 word article almost every day and it does not feel like work to me because I love doing it
My blog is my hobby which in turn I aim to turn into a business one day

Wow Bazboy, thanks for your honesty. This is excellent advice, and I know what I should aspire to in a realistic way. I am always sceptical when people underplay hard work, and I figured that there must be a lot of work involved to have a successful blog. Thanks again!

It is always advisable to pick a niche you are familiar with or are will to do a bunch of research on. You will be writing a lot of content and you want to offer your website readers with a lot of meaningful information to help them decide to make a purchase.

If you are not too knowledgeable in what you are writing, it will show through your content. You want to be seen as an authority in your niche to both your website readers and to Google.

Good to know that I will need to be writing a lot of meaningful information. This is perhaps the part that scares me most- I think I will go with my greatest interest then and knowledge, to keep it fun for me but also legit. Just not sure there will be a lot of purchase offshoots from my interest . Thanks again for your insight.

What is your interest (niche)?

Architecture and interior design, which I do have expertise in, but specifically small living spaces -might narrow it down to tiny houses... Thinking I could give general advice, specific advice (answer questions), show what's new out there in terms of products that would be useful to have in small spaces (ie, furnishings, appliances etc...)

Expertise is relative.

If you know enough about some subject to clearly explain it in a knowledgeable manner to a newcomer, you are an expert as far as that newcomer is concerned. As you research your niche and learn more about it, your expertise will expand so that you can become an expert for more people.

Thanks, that helps to think of it in relative terms. So, to my peers in my field I am not more of an expert than they are, but to the newcomer I would be... Thanks again!
