The Greatest Ride Of Them All

From the days we were young and innocent to the present, each one of us has our unique experiences that we cherish and experiences that will never match anybody else's. Experiences that have been written in our memories forever. I can sit down and reminisce all the trips my friends and I made to the hills, blazing new trails with machetes, hunting wild games, preparing meals from stuff gathered from the jungle, from the streams!

Times we spent down at the river spear fishing or just swimming and jumping from rocks into the water. I can still hear our screams as children. It was truly great being carefree, mindless of dangers. Just having good old fun as children. Indeed those days were the greatest of all rides in this lifetime! And we do have our own unique experiences that we would love to experience over again!

Father Time Sets Seasons And All

Then we go to school to some far away city. The younger carefree days slowly fade. They are now just distant memories. The innocent laughters have all but quited down. College they say gives you the best opportunity in life. Then fate or destiny jumps in. Opportunities rise up and disappear. No one really knows what lies ahead till we get there!

The Big Door To A Big Opportunity Opens!

Roughly three to four thousand of us young candidates were lucky enough to have been invited by the the greatest Navy in the world's recruiting team out in the huge US Naval Base in Subic Bay, Philippines. A written test that took hours eliminated but about forty of us! The interview and medical processes eliminated a few more. What was left was about thirty of us and we were given about two weeks to say goodbye to families and return to the Base, take our oaths of service, be shipped out to the US Navy Boot Camp in San Diego! This part of my experience is but a small slice of the privilege that I have been given in this life.

Mine Is Just One Unique Story

While my life experience is just one of several billion humans on this planet Earth, I find it extremely interesting that indeed we all have unique stories to tell! The most exciting part for me about this life: the thought about how we are so privileged to have lived this life!

Privileged? You may ask! Yes indeed what a privilege to have been 'selected' to become a human on this planet Earth! Again my head goes into a spin whenever I start wondering about who I am, where I came from, how I got here ....why I am here on this planet and just where the heck I am going!

And Those Are Just A Few Of The Many Big Questions That We Have No Easy Answers To!

I love to read about new discoveries in science and technology. Space is at the forefront of my excitement. Other big interests are our existence. Next is how we seem to be alone in this vast universe...so far. And then we start to wonder WHY! Thousands of books have been written for sure about this existence BUT we truly do not have all the answers! So despite all of these unanswered questions in our heads life seem to be very special still! Despite the hardships, I feel we are still very privileged and extremely special!

The Odds Are Staggering!

Imagine being an inhabitant on a blue orb called Earth among several other orbs with names just as unique. Venus, Mars and Mercury! Jupiter, Neptune...all have their unique properties BUT lo and behold only the Blue Orb called Earth has life in it!

We have created radios for communications, we send out radio signals into outer space to let 'others' know we are here. After many lonely years of waiting, NOT A SINGLE radio signal comes back to us to let us know we are NOT ALONE! Not one!

Then our scientists start putting out numbers that rattle us in amazement! Mind boggling distances out in space. The physical universe is humongous in size! They had to invent a distance-measuring unit called lightyear, a distance travelled by light in a period of one year! And light travels at a staggering speed of 186,000 miles per second!!! Then they tell us that the seen universe stretches for as far as 13 billion lightyears big!

And we have not heard from nor detected any signs of life from this vast stretch of space. NOT ONE! But WHY? Outer space seems to be a vast wasteland of billions of planets, stars and rocks! What a waste! Or is it!

I Feel Extremely Privileged!

I do not know about you my friends BUT this guy feels extremely privileged, excited, filled with awesome wonder...just realizing how EXTREMELY RARE we are! The Blue Orb called Earth for all practical purposes is like a huge SELF-CONTAINED VESSEL loaded with all our logistics so we could travel through space for a very very long time! The Earth they say has been in existence for at least 4.5 billion years!

These Beautiful Creatures Called Living Things!

And so we look at our images in front of mirrors and ask, 'Who am I?' There is no one else like us humans, nor is there another living entity similar to us anywhere near us! Not on Mars or Neptune or its moons! Exoplanets maybe? Exoplanets are planets that are hundreds, thousands of lightyears away that may be similar to Earth? Will they have life? What if we are ALONE in this universe!? The question WHY would then grow a million fold!

Will Finding Other Civilizations Outside Of Planet Earth Change The Feeling Of Being Extremely Privileged?

The sheer number of planets out there that do not seem to have anyone on them compared to the possible ones with life on them is an indication that indeed we are very special and extremely privileged beings. Just take our own solar system. We are truly ALONE in this small area of the vast universe. If this is an indication of what is out there for the rest of the seen universe, our EXTREME RARITY of an existence truly makes me feel very PRIVILEGED!

My Mom And 'Others' Had Out Of Body 'Trips'!

Until I explored this phenomenon I was not aware of how widespread the experience is. YouTube is full of it. Google has tons. The reason why I believe that most of the experiences shared by so many people are truly real, my own mother told us of a strikingly very similar event to the experiences of others that we now find in the modern media, books etc... This story within our immediate family was made known to us mostly by our Dad and verified by our Mom long before I saw or read the first story by others. My mother was very ill after giving birth that she was no longer responsive for a long while but somehow recovered. My Mom's story matched those told by others that I read about or the videos that I watched.

Out of body experiences are indeed very similar among thousands of folks. While there are many different scenarios of what initiates the experience, it revolves around near-death-experiences. Accidents, surgical procedures, extreme illnesses where subjects are rendered dead or close to it. The experiences slightly differ. Consciousness seem to pop out of the physical body, travels through different landscapes but the striking similarities are a passage through a brightly lit path that has both sides that are very dark. The 'trip' takes many to a huge extremely bright area where folks meet you and you are told you have to go back to your physical body on Earth. And you recover!

Feelings Of Extreme Privilege Quadruples!

I thought whoa! With thousands or perhaps millions going to the 'other side' and coming back 'reformed' after a near-death-experience, my onboard calculator tells me I should truly feel a few notches more priveleged! WHAT A SPECIAL EXISTENCE!

Not only are we super special and RARE, we could even have another kind of existence OUTSIDE of this physical one! I say, NO WONDER we were placed on this one and only Blue Orb that is TEEMING with life within the Milky Way Galaxy! Indeed it is extremely difficult for us to get away from this awareness of being RARE AND SPECIAL!

This Thing They Call Consciousness!

Here I am sitting on a chair looking intently upon my computer screen processing my thoughts so I could then move my fingers, type out words that make sense to me and thinking that these words would make similar sense to others! Well, that is some exercise of conscious thought!

And our medical experts tie that consciousness to a living and functioning brain, period!

Now Here Comes This Thing They Call Consciousness Apart From The Brain!

What!!!! Impossible! Medical science says, dead brains do not remember a thing! Okay, so who said that the brain is the final source of thoughts and memory! Enter consciousness apart from the brain! If this is the first time that you have heard about this, read on!

It looks like consciousness do travel outside of bodies, thus the phenomenon called out of body or near-death experiences. Many experiences rule out malfunctioning brain aberrations. It is again getting close to midnight and many weird things happen from midnight and beyond. When I close my eyes well before midnight...what happens afterwards is no longer my concern. I simply look forward to waking up, another day from the great Architect of life that teems on this great Blue Orb called Earth!

So till then my beautiful fellow passengers of this well-sustained, fully-supplied space vehicle called Earth!
