Ok, I know I am probably just overlooking something, but I am now completely stumped.

I have received quite a few emails from Wordpress with the following information:

I can't get Add New User to work...I've filled in everything as in the video and lesson, have a "strong" password, but everytime I click update, it just comes back with the password boxes empty....have tried several times with different password phrases, but just won't update....any help much appreciated

I just added a "new user" to see if it works for me. No problem. However, sometimes a glitch like the one you describe can be browser-specific. At least to eliminate that as a factor, try redoing the whole process using a different browser. In fact, if you haven't done so already, make sure that you have at least two different browsers anyway. That's just a good practice to employ for safety reasons.

Hey thx Josh, I use Chrome mostly, but also have ie and tried there with same there, then just loaded Firefox, with same result.....this just makes no sense, everything else works fine....even tried support, but they got nothing....but thx again.

You can't use the same email address as the original admin....that was the problem, Kyle came up with the answer...but just wanted you to know, and thank you again for your help

Things are so easy when you know what to do! Rich has bailed me out so many times it's not even funny! Glad to hear all is well with you!

Thanks for that quick response, Rich. I've unchecked that box and the "New User Default Role" is set to "Subscriber". Thanks. I just checked and everything is as it should be.

WA ROCKS!

I'd check to see whether under Settings > General you're allowing anyone to "register" with your site as a "Member". If so, untick this box. If anyone has registered then they'll be listed in Users. :) Rich.

Is there any particular web browser that works best with WordPress Express or are they all created equal?

I'm using Chrome and Mozilla Firefox

Chrome has been great so far.

You'll usually find the major browsers are much-of-a-much, although there are variations, IE (Microsoft's Internet Explorer) can often be problematic. I usually recommend working on a site in Chrome. It has the largest percentage of users of all the browsers, so how your website looks in that is how the biggest slice of visitors will be seeing it too. :) Rich.

I use Sarafi... no problems what so ever, with wordpress.

Not all browsers work the same. I use mozilla most of the time. However I check the sites I build on different browsers to check their appearance. People viewing your site will be using all different kinds of browsers. Wordpress is usually consistant in its appearance but your plugins and annimations if you use them may not work on some browsers. Just my observations.

I love Chrome. :)

What's wordpress (express) ? I use Chrome as I like the many apps it uses, also the many tabs you can use at any given time.

Mike, are you asking what wordpress is? - if that's your question, it is a really easy to use website frame, you can costumize to your content... It's perfect for blogs! - you can check mine out, it's made in 4 hours, with what you get when you are premium here... I had the domain my self, but everything else, is from here! :-D (www.blochamok.com )

I use Firefox no problems .

My girlfriend uses Firefox, I use Chrome. We do not have any problems with either!

I'm using Mozilla Firefox and most people here use Chrome.

I have a domain that I bought through WIX and now want to manage through WA. How do I edit DNS settings in WIX to point to the WA nameservers? I can get to the "Manage Domains"

I was curious how to do this also so I tried it a a premium member and got the same issue where you can not change the WIX DNS Servers. So I submitted a ticket to support. You have two choices, either transfer the domain from WIX to another registrar like (Godaddy) or what you can do is modify the "A" record IP address to point to WA. You will need to get the IP address from Kyle for your WA website in order to update the "A" record. I believe the "A" record IP is not the same as the DNS IP but the IP of the webserver that hosts your site. Here's some info on "A" records from WIX... http://goo.gl/eZuciP

Where did you buy your domain name from? If you bought it from Wix, you should be able to change your DNS settings there.

Tell them you want to update your nameservers to point somewhere else, if they don't allow you to update these settings, I would absolutely transfer your domain to a registrar that is not unethical. This is totally brutal business practice if they don't allow you to point your website wherever you want.

Agreed! I'm going to move my name to Godaddy :)

I am transferring all 3 domains to another registrar-they make it really difficult to change dns settings and to transfer-uggg

There's a "Connect Domain" option for 6.90/month. If you are already paying and it is still grayed out you should contact wix support. http://goo.gl/lLtk8w

Do you own the domain? If you do you should be able to update this...if you can't this would be a question for the support at wix.

Hi Kyle, I have several domains hosted with Hostgator, and I was thinking about moving it over to WA, however I am only considering
doing this in order to simpllfied my marketing life.

Do you think it is beneficial for me to make that change, and if
so what are the necessary steps?

My "Home" page does not show up on my list of pages, so there is no "edit" link available to me. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Hi all....I also have this problem with the original 'Home' page that came built into the website....it says 'Hello World' - how do I edit this?

It does not appear in the Pages section of the WordPress dashboard also I deleted it from the menu and cannot restore it.

Plus if I go to Settings - Reading and click on 'Static Page' then the original WordPress Home page appears when I click on another tab (not the 'Home' tab....help!

The home page is Theme dependant. Some Themes come with home pages that have a lot of customisation. For these themes you edit the home page in the Themes settings, which will show under Appearance => Themename Settings

More simpler Themes just display the blog on the home page. On these themes you have a few options you can change such as the title and tag line (Under Appearance => Customize)

What theme are you using?

Theme is Hiero...had a look at Appearance but can't see anything there that I can do....Themename settings is not there but yes in Customize I can change the title and tag line but that's not the issue....Allan

Ok, I've had a play with that theme before for someone else. The home page displays your blog posts. There's no customisation at all.

The home page should still be there if you just removed it from the menu. You may not be able to see it under the menus tab because when you go to menus it displays "most recent" pages added. In the menu editor to the left under pages, next to "most recent" you'll see another tab "view all". That should show you the home page and you can add it back to the menu. The home page will always display your most recent post.

I appreciate your help Michael.....In the View All tab there are 2 Home pages listed but they are both the new one I created (how did that happen?)....Here's what I've done....in Settings - Reading I've ticked 'Your Latest Posts' ....now all seems ok BUT when I open the site from scratch via Google I land on the old built in Home Page (Hello World) which I thought and hoped had gone forever, then when I click on another tab then return to the Home tab I'm on the new Home Page that I made....I'd be happy if the Hello World Page was never seen again.....Allan

The problem that's occurred is when you create a page and call it Home, the permalink url for it will be yoursite.com/home However the original home page is just the root url - yoursite.com.

You need to set the home page you've created as a static front page. Under the static page option in customize is a box where you can select the page you want. Selecting your new home page should redirect the root url to that page. Let me know how you go.

Thanks Nathaniel. That did the trick. Now I can edit the "Home" page as before. I was unaware that the "Home" page could not be deleted. It does make sense though. Thanks also to all who helped me wade through this (mini)crisis. I hope I have your permission to do so again, should the need arise.

Of course. Some of these things can be tricky, especially is the beginning!

Ok, here's the deal. When I go to the web page on the net, I now have two "links" called "Home" (http://successonlineawaitsyou.com). One is the problem page and the other I created earlier today. The first one (problem page) shows an address of (http://successonlineawaitsyou.com), the same as the web site. The other "Home" tab shows http://successonlineawaitsyou.com/home (this is the one I just created today).

My short term solution was to move my "About Me" information to the problem Home tab temporarily, so that is the reason for that.

Now, when I go to my Admin Login, then to All Pages, I show a "Home" page, but it is the one I created today. It is in none of the other tabs (All, Published, Private, Trash).

When I go to "Appearance/Menus", I see "Home" listed under the "Pages" area, "View All" tab. However, it does not show up under the "Menu Structure" area.

At the bottom of the page, in "Menu Settings", "Auto add pages", I have the box checked for "Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu."

I don't know of any other place that would enable me to manage these pages. If anyone knows what may be causing this problem, I'd be grateful for an assist.

Btw, I've since deleted the second "Home" page. The one showing is the problem page that I can no longer manipulate.

Some themes require you to have a 'home' page. If you deleted the page you created called 'home', then this one will always be there in your theme. You cannot delete it.

If you want to define a specific page as you home page you must

1) Create the page

2) Go to Settings > Reading > Front page displays static page

Then select the page you just created.

After this, the "home" page will be that page. and http://successonlineawaitsyou.com will be directed to that page.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks, Ladies. That's worth a try. It's just strange why it still shows up as a web page on my published site; yet, fails to show as a page inside my site maintenance area. I'll update when complete. Thanks all.

Hi Joshua. It still shows up on your site? Perhaps your browser has remembered the page? If you can still see the page in your browser, check to see the actual location of the page. Such as:

www.mysite.com/myhomepage

Look in the address bar and see what's there. It's possible it's not named Home but perhaps something else? Just another idea.

I agree with emerald. For the time that you spend looking for it, you would have a new one done. Dont forget to save it. Good luck. P.s. put it down to experience.....

I'm still wondering if your Home page is even there, Joshua. In the interest of time (and frustration) would you consider making a new Home page? That way, you will know for sure it's there. And don't forget to save!

Question is for original poster, who is no longer active in the community. Closing with a comment.

I've tried everything suggested so far with no change (as of 3Sep/2300 hours). I've been able to effect a temporary work-around by setting my "Front Page" (Settings/Reading) to "About Me." Now, the "Home" page (which apparently is still set as the "Front Page) has my About Me information listed. That will work for now, but I still need to be able to edit that "Home" page somehow.

Anyone else have any ideas?

You need to create a new page. Call it "Home" or call it the name of your blog. Then you will see that page listed in the dropdown menu of Settings/Reading.

Or...I think you may be having an issue with you menus. Take a look at this training https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wordpress-dashboard-tutorial-menu to try to remove "HOME" from your regular menu.

You might have forgotten to tap update? Try and check your trash you can retrieve it if its there. I hope you find it.yes I just read your query again. I did that once. I deleted the home and welcome to wordpress but I forgot to update it. I went on and put my content into the page then I pressed view to see what it looked like. Surprise surprise, everything went back to the way it was when I started lol. Ever sinse I am constantly pressing the update just in case lol you can always edit at a later date. At least you dont lose it. I hope this helps. Good luck.

No, it's not located in my "Trash" folder. Everything has been updated but still no editable "Home" page.

I think this training could solve your problem: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-a-static-homepage-using-wordpress Let me know if this works.

Is it perhaps a Post? Have you checked there?

On my web site, "Home" is the first link across the top of each page: Home, Avoid Scams, About Me, Getting Started, Ways to Earn Money, Writing Content, and Build a Website.

I am able to see and edit all of the other pages on the "Pages" view of the admin part of my site. However, "Homes" is missing in action. I am to the point of wanting to publish the site, but the "Homes" page still shows: "Hello World" and "Welcome to Wordpress"

Any ideas?
