Setting some goals

As I continue to move forward in the WA training and spend more time connecting with the WA community, I realize I need to set some weekly activity goals. I regularly set personal and work (currently my 9-5 job, but hopefully that will be eliminated as I become successful online!) goals, so I guess I should include my content goals in the mix.

I'd love to get some feedback from you on your goals and ways/strategies that I can add to mine to become more successful.

Personal:

  • Exercise - I have a weekly goal to do some physical activity (walking, jogging, working out, riding bike, playing tennis with my girls, etc...) at least 3 times per week.
  • Family Time - We have a family goal to eat a meal as a family three times per week. I travel a lot for my job, so this can sometimes get stretched, but we usually make it work - even if its breakfast or lunch on the weekends.
  • Reading - I enjoy reading, but I must set a goal to read at least 3 chapters a week of a book that will benefit me personally, spiritually, or professionally. I'm reading Jon Gordon's The Power of Positive Leadership right now. Jon is one of my favorite authors and I got to meet him last week and he gave me a signed copy of this new book, so it's an added bonus!

Wealthy Affiliate Goals
  • Writing Content - So this is my number one goal: to write at least four new pieces of content each week. I am working on a content calendar right now that will hopefully help keep the writing juices flowing.
  • Social Media - I struggle at this, so I need to make it a goal to post on my social media pages snippets of the newly written content. My mediums now are Google+ and Pinterest.
  • Site Feedback/Comments - At first, I was hesitate to provide feedback on sites (who was I to tell someone that their site or content was good or bad??). But honestly, reading new content out of my niche(s) and seeing how other write and organize their sites has been invaluable. My goal is to review and/or provide comments and site feedback on six sites per week.
  • WA Blogging - Again, this is one of my weak points, but feel like its a benefit to me to just have some free-flowing thoughts written on WA. My goal is to write at least one new blog post here on WA weekly.
  • WA Community - Interacting with new and experienced WA community members has been great. I have received so much encouragement just from my brief interactions with many of you and I can't say thank you enough! My goal is step 15-30 minutes per day reaching out to new members, interacting with my followers, and generally soaking in all the knowledge, experience, and positive vibes from the WA crew.

I won't post the work goals here, as they hopefully will be gone soon!! Thanks for the read and let me know what your goals are.

Impressive Josh, setting goals is key, you are definitely on the right tracks keep going.

Hey, you will do great, not only because you set goals, but also because you recognize you where you need to improve and are willing to admit it.

Thanks for that comment - I agree, recognizing weaknesses is a vital part in the process of improvement! Thanks again.

goals are great enjoy

Hey Josh,
Very nice goals! I'm sure they're going to help you succeed in all the areas of your life.

Having a 9-5 job and being able to write at least 4 posts a week (among all other goals) is really impressive.

My goals are similar: exercise 5 days a week, spend time with at least one of my kids every night, write 3 posts per week, leave 2 Comments through SiteComments every day, and all the goals Kyle has challenged us within the Super Affiliate program.

Wishing you all the best,
Eliane

Thanks Eliane - we'll see how things go, but I am committed to these goals and believe I can succeed!

Your goals are great too and wish you all the best.

Thanks and I wish you all the best as well.

Hey Josh,

Good post, I like your organized approach for goal setting.I really need to work on goal setting more. For many years my attitude was that I could Get more work done by solving problems than I could benefit from the time i spent Making up goals and then the worry about accomplishing those goals.

The Bible has something to say about that, in essence it says
"It is better to not make commitments to the Lord, than to make them and not keep them."

However, my thinking is slowly changing on goal setting. If we don't challenge ourselves by setting goals, then we have nothing to hold us accountable to ourselves.

I need to chew on that for a spell!

Warm Regards,

john

Good luck chewing on it!

For me it is a commitment I am making to myself so that I can succeed for others! My wife and kids are in on it too and we hold each other accountable for each others goals and it really brings us together.

But I hear you - Matthew 6:34, "Don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries!" Sometimes its hard balancing the Word with our daily lives, but that's what the struggle is all about, right?

Thanks for the comment and I wish you all the best.
Josh

Good Stuff Josh!
