15 Tested and Proven Ways- how to build email list

How to build email list, 15 proven ways to build and engage in active subscribers in your email list is one of the most effective ways to market a targeted audience. Having a good list is valuable to your online success and is something that can't be bought.

Why is this? Because when your subscribers sign up to an email lists they trust you and want to hear from you and what you have to offer. So what are the best ways to build an email list?

One effective way is called the permission method and allows your readers to opt into your list, these people are generally interested in you, your brand or what you are selling etc. Lets get into it then, I have collected my top 15 ways to effectively build your email list.

  1. Quality Content-#1 and I stress this is #1 and the is Offer Quality content in everything you do. This means blog posts, pages, emails etc. A reader or subscriber is looking for quality information, plain and simple and it is up to you to deliver this to them.
  2. Sign up Forms- This is up to you of course but Having a signup form on every page is important, as simple as a side bar widget on your Worpress blog or even a pop up/pop over when they visit the site for the first time.
  3. Social Media- Use social media to your advantage. You can integrate your sign up forms with social media sites and pull traffic sources from this.
  4. Design- Try to limit how much information the subscriber has to enter, we are not looking to gather full street addresses and the customers mothers maiden name here, keep it simple and you will get better results as far as sign ups.
  5. Privacy Policy- Some autoresponders has this built in, but make your subscribers feel safer about entering there email information and post a link to a privacy policy stating that you will not share any information that is given.
  6. Show examples- allowing your subscribers to view related content may actually help them decide to sign up if they know what type of content they will be receiving or viewing in upcoming emails.
  7. Give Aways- A nice incentive to sign up will really boost your conversion rates, an example of this would be an ebook on a related topic to your niche or website. You can either make your own ebook or have re-seller rights to a copy of one that you can give away as a bonus.
  8. Ask Subscribers To Share- When you put a lot of prep work into your content it shows, people can really tell the difference between something that is well written and something that is thrown together in 10 minutes. Subscribers will want to share content naturally if it is good quality but sometimes a little call to action is necessary, invite your readers to share your content and this will lead to more signups and a larger email list.
  9. Call to Action- This ties in with #8 , you can put a call to action anywhere on your website. It can be as simple as saying thanks for reading this article and by the way sign up to my weekly newsletter and always be updated on any new content.
  10. Build a content distribution strategy- Writing quality content is only half the battle, making sure the right people are reading it is another. Find out what your real target audience is, where they hang out as far as social media, and communicate in those channels. Don't waste your time promoting something like skateboarding tricks 101 to an audience that wants to read about landscaping tips. You get the picture.
  11. Landing Pages- This is a whole topic by itself really but creating a nice squeeze/landing page before or after a signup can lead to other sales and call to action plans. An example of this could be a free Ebook for an exchange of email address. You can also market affiliate products this ways as well.
  12. Testimonials- Including proof of what you are talking about is a real thing is important to the reader as it builds a sense of trust and hearing or seeing other peoples comments on the topic will gain the readers trust and lead to more signups.
  13. Blog Regularly- Some people say daily, others say 1, 2 posts weekly and I say do what works for you. That way there is no pressure on yourself and you will find yourself writing better content and not worrying about getting your posts and pages out. Don't sacrifice your content just to say you wrote a blog post/day. Take your time and let it flow naturally.
  14. Guest post on popular blogs- Did you know that you can guest post on other blogs, yes it is a thing. Having a killer article on something and it being published on a major website is huge, not only does it add credibility to you as a writer you can also link back to your own website and gain traffic and subscribers to your email list as well.
  15. Collect email addresses at offline events- Adding people to your email list the old fashion way is just as effective. Perhaps your in a position to do this from attending trade shows, collecting business cards from the people you meet, adding them manually is just as good as having a signup online.
