Anyone Using FB Ads?

Hi there everyone.

We have dabbled with Facebook Ads on and off over the last year or 2 but with next to zero results!

A little voice in my (Jon) head kept saying, "it is still the place to grow your list and make money!", so with thought in mind I thought I would see what others in our niche were doing.

Now, let me be clear, another little voice in my head was also saying "but people are leaving FB ads due to rising costs, reduced targeting options, peoples perception of Facebook etc"

It was this little voice that led me to write this post!

After spending about an hour on Facebook looking at many, many Make Money Online (that is our main niche) Facebook Pages and the ads they are running, one thing became apparent.

Oh, for those of you that may not be aware of this, you can go to a FB page and click on the Info and Ads tab to see the ads that page is currently running .

So, back to the story...

As I said, one thing became apparent.....

The distinct lack of people in the MMO niche running FB ads!! And I visited a lot of pages, and many that had big followings too.

Now, I know that more and more recently it is becoming easier to find a Polar Bear in Africa than to get a make money online ad accepted in FB!!!

But what is your perception?

Are you running FB ads?

Are you seeing success with them?

Would love to know your thoughts.

I have added my website posts to face book but have very limited knowledge of using FB. I have not so far placed any Adds on it. My main aim is to send my next website post to Pinterest as I follow this part of the training. I am still struggling to manage Pinterest but have managed to create a board but hopefully it will eventually become clear what I have to do here. Hope you are able to make a well informed decision about using Face Book ads. All the best to you here as always.

Eat my ass hole

WTF???!!!!! Appropriate -not!

Go Away! Those comments are not welcome here!

I haven't tried FB ads, just started experimenting with Bing and Google. Bing seems to be better for me, some of the keyword prices on both can get a little crazy. I skip the higher priced ones and look for the more realistic ones.

Thank you for the share.

Hi,
I have run a few adds got a few sent to the wrong country. So lots of clicks no referrals. I tried another Ad got lots of clicks one referral that stayed three months.

I am just working on new ones now. I have paid out about £40 for 6 ads so I haven't done bad at all. I got more people to my group and page.

You can boost your posts but you won't get the massive coverage you think you will get so best to make an AD of your own. Something I learned along the way.

Don't forget "Google your Business". You can run FREE ads from there as well. Google your business is free also.
Debs :)

I have used FB ads before. You can gat a fair bit of traffic, but your target audience needs to be very clear to get many click throughs. If it’s not working for you though don’t burn ur money as FB ads are not amazing anyway. Most of my traffic comes from Pinterest and Instagram. Thanks

Interesting thoughts Kenny. Pin and IG? Very interesting. Thanks for commenting

I tried fb ads before but no success. I applied the targeted audience but i could hardly made money. I think the competition in fb is very high. I liked bing ads more.

Yes, must admit we have started trialling Bing ads due to the recommendation of several WA members

Hi Jon.

Same as you. Dabbling here and there with my own MMO - affiliate marketing - ads. I have been doing it more for learning how to really leverage FB than actually making the money.

I run the ads expecting them to fail, so I do not expect to get any WA referrals. Only spent about $80 so far and haven't gotten any sign ups. Get some interesting insights around what audiences are interacting with what content.

My ads are approved fine. I adhere to the FB advertising policies.

#13 (Do Not Create) Misleading or False Content & #21 (Do Not Promote Get Rich Schemes via) Multi-Level Marketing are the main ones I follow. I don't make any realistic promises. Affiliate Marketing is likely classified in the MLM bucket even though I would not classify it as that. https://www.facebook.com/policies/ads/

My "tests" definitely align to what Travis says below. Running an ad to promote WA sign ups doesn't work. In marketing, it aligns with the saying that "cold traffic doesn't convert".

Marketing works better when you nurture someone. After-all, we are cautious and mostly cheap humans.

Nurturing can be done by creating an FB ad to get someone to sign up for your email list or webinar. Or as Travis, mentions, just boosting your content for more engagement. I am actually considering do this instead of hard sell FB ads. The idea is that you just promote your content, build your FB page community and have a few user flows (aka funnels) on your website to walk the visitors through some sort of journey for potential conversion.

On the other hand, I've been watching Pat Flynn aka Smart Passive Income who has is running FB ads to push his free course. Seems very similar to what WA could be promoted as but I have no idea how much money he is spending or his ROI (Return on Investment).

Reality, is there is no get rich formula with FB ads. It is an art just like anything else.

I'd love to hear more about your input, experiences, findings, etc.

Kim

Thanks Kim for your informative and valuable comments

I use it for my sister's landsxaping business in the Phil and it brings her a lot of new customers. I tried it with my business fb page just to drive traffic to my site and it did not do much. But I did spend only 20 to 30$. I think it depends on the business and the location.

Yes Maria, I do think that FB ads are far better in terms of success for offline businesses. That's my perception.

Great post Jon. I used Facebook Ads. before but had ZERO results, but recently I've been studying a lot how to create effective Facebook Ads. and I'll give it a go next week and let you know the results ok. Hopefully this time it will work, cheers!

Look forward to your results Pedro. All the best with your new FB campaign

Great post this is Jon and you are spot on, I have in the past used Fb for campaign and the only sure thing that happens is that they take your money. And do they really care about is in that respect.
Dave.

Well I’m not in the mmo niche but I do boost a post from time to time just to get engagement. Running an ad to try and sell something just doesn’t seem to work. But boosting a post to get likes and shares and build a following seems to work well.
