I've been wanting to create a simple E book for opt in Email list. Was curious if others have gone this route and have had any success?
How many people here have used beacon for creating an e book?

I just went on google to check my site ranking and couldn't find it at all. Have been messing around a bit with SEO settings so I may have screwed up somehow, HELP!

Hi John,
This has also happened with my site. I too have been making changes to existing pages and I modified a couple of posts with affiliate links so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I think when you make changes Google gets confused for a while but once it settles down it should be okay. I don't think it's a good idea to change posts once they are out there but I had to modify/delete some links so I had no choice.
In the future I won't change a post once it's published.
Hope this helps.
Craig.

I was wondering should I be trying to get a lot comments e in the early stages of my site?
I think you should always try to get some comments on your latest articles. You can use Wealthy Affiliate's comment exchange tool or just leave comments on similar websites and hope that they'll return the favor.
I made a bookmark folder of all the websites that return comments, and whenever I publish a new article, I open all those websites and leave comments on their latest articles. That's one way to rack up some fast comments!
Having said that... comments are not really so important, there are tons of websites that entirely disable comments and still rank high in search engines.
Once again, the focus should be on writing quality articles. If your articles are keyword targeted and you share them in the right places, you will get traffic regardless of the amount of comments.
Hey, buddy. Give and you shall receive. lol
It is much more to be focused on the production of QUALITY Content. Your site will gender comments automatically. Use a lot of leading questions for this will prompt comments.
I know that content is king, and I'm getting there, but I was thinking that getting the comments would help with my rankings and people noticing the site. Thanks Teddy Bear!
You are more than welcome, John. What is the new site's domain? I am asking as ....I....want to comment on it. I cannot help if other people see it in your response and comment.
You got it. I like getting comments too, at my site. http://SpiritualAttack.com
See you at the top.

I am trying to limit my amount of plugins so I was wondering if the navi plugin is really neccessary?
Are you referring to the Exclude Pages From Navigation plugin? As far as I know it comes pre-installed together with the All In One SEO pack. As of now, I don’t see the need to exclude my pages from navigation so I deleted it.
You can have a wordpress site without any plugins. If you had that plugin you must have installed it for a reason. It would potentially an question you need to answer yourself.
Yeah. I can't remember if it was suggested in training or why I installed it. Just trying to limit my plugins

how do I make a parent menu that is not an actual page that you can click on?
This is a bit similar to what Klynn has mentioned. Instead of using * it should be this #. You don’t have to create a new menu or use a plugin. Just use Custom Link. Here’s the tutorial. Custom Dropdown Menu Trick Hope this helps =)
I got stuck with this one and couldn't work out why it wasn't working but it does! I realised that you have to remove the http:// and have only the # in the URL. Always check under the link that is # only NOT http://#. Hope that helps everyone too. Cheers
I am not sure if you fixed it already but I think you are having a similar problem to what I had.
I was able to make the parent page non clickable and when you hover over it the sub pages pop up like a menu. If that is what you are talking about.
Under appearance go to menus
Go to custom links
for the URL just put *
Link Text put what you want the page title to be and add to menu
Should be able to move it around like a page and put sub items under it and it won't be clickable. Hope it works.
I tried that but it didn't work. Still was able to click on the menu and it said it couldn't be found.
Hmmm must be different with your theme mine looks like it could be clicked but isn't click able. I don't get the couldn't be found issue on mine. sorry it didn't work for you.
I am trying to understand what you are after.
To clarify a page is what displays your content.
A menu helps you navigate through your website. i.e transitioning through your pages, posts etc....
Each page or post has a menu by default. With the menu you can link to pages, posts, images, tags, categories.
Now what is it that you are trying to achieve ?
Regards,
John,
Number 1. Your theme has to support more than one menu. If it does,....Appearance >>>>Menu>>>>>Create new menu>>>>name it, place it, and save it.
Yes, I would put the primary menu across the top, and the secondary in the sidebar or footer.
You can still add one by changing the CSS or by adding a plugin. It may be easier to just change the theme to one that supports two menus.
