My progress since I joined Wealthy Affiliate

I joined Wealthy Affiliate in September last year. I had initially subscribed to another affiliate scheme, but felt that it wasn't really offering anything practical before requesting a fairly large expenditure. I googled for some info and found that others were equally unimpressed, and one reviewer suggested I try Wealthy Affiliate, as they gave good value for money both for free and at a modest next tier of investment.

I tried the free service at WA, and was immediately struck by the difference. Kyle's instructional videos were actually instructional, rather than a constant showing off about how he was living this fantastic lifestyle because of what he had achieved thorough his online business, or emphasising the importance of education without actually providing any.

So I was sufficiently impressed with the training and support on the free service to commit to a month's premium membership with the initial starter offer, then decided that I might as well commit to a year's membership at the lower rate, as it would take that long to really give it all a proper try out.

Work, family and other commitments mean that I haven't been able to progress as fast as I might like, but I'm in no big hurry. I'm completing this review as the last task in my level 2 training, and have set up a website on a topic of great interest to me (running, and in particular, marathon running). Although I have completed the tasks as required, I have not been happy to do the bare minimum, and have created about a dozen posts on my site. Very recently, I have got involved, as recommended, in sharing comments forums, and have found this particularly worthwhile. I have found many of my peers' articles interesting and useful, and have received a good deal of positive feedback and thought provoking comments and questions on my own posts. The interaction with like minded people from different corners of the globe has been enjoyable and mind broadening.

I haven't made any money yet, which is not surprising as haven't even got to that module yet, but that can wait. I understand, I hope, that the first task is to produce a site with content that people are going to want to access. I have always talked about wanting to write and share my writing with others, so that is really a major step for me. People are actually reading my work! It might be just to complete their own WA programme at first, but hopefully some are genuinely interested in what I have to say, as I am with many of the articles I have read.

So even if I don't actually make any money out of all this, then it won't have been a waste of time by any means. I am learning how to put together a website, getting to write about things of interest and generally increasing my skill set in something relevant and up to date.

My immediate goals are to keep progressing through the training and building my website, and clearly, if the previous modules are anything to go by, then these two things go hand in hand. Realistically, I will be happy if I can complete all the modules within six months, and I can see lots of potential to build the website further. There are plenty of relevant sub-topics that I haven't fully researched and written about yet, and I'm sure there is a great deal that can be done to make my site more eye catching and interactive. Even something simple such as hyperlinks, which I have used in other work, are not yet a feature of my website.

If you would like to check out my site (see link below) that would be appreciated. Please leave comments under any posts of interest, or reply to this if you have any thoughts on what I have said here or any general points about my website.

John--a GREAT post which reflects that you have the right attitude that guarantees you success in the future!

Hi Jeffrey. Thank you for your generous remarks. It's very encouraging to hear that I am on the right track, especially from someone who is, judging by your high ranking, very successful in this sphere.

    You're very welcome, John!

    Hi John,

Excellent update keep the pace up!

    Rami.

Hi Rami. Thank you. Will do.

    Your welcome.
    R.

I just recently commented on one of your posts, and didn't realize that you are in the same place in the training that I currently am in. I enjoyed your post and think it's great blogging about your journey.

I have no intention of running a marathon, but as you turn your experience into a story it is interesting. One of my favorite features in my local newspaper was an outdoorsman writing about his adventures. I'm not a hunter, nor have any desire to become one, but I always enjoyed the storytelling part of his weekly column.

When you write about what you love, it shows. Keep it up and here's wishing success to both of us in completing the next steps here.

Hi Willow. Thank your words of encouragement. I think you are wise not to want to run a marathon. Not sure if I will do it more than once. As we are at a parallel stage in the process, it would be good to keep in touch as we progress.

Great post. Glad you found your way here!!! Definitely nothing like the other stuff you find on-line. Christine

Thanks for reading my post and glad you liked it, and also for follow which has been reciprocated.

I like your goals, people always put money first and get disappointed if they do not make money in the first month. We forget that there is no business you can start and start making money right away.
Just keep working at your own pace, and I see your URL quite fit affiliate marketing journey, it`s not a sprint, it`s a marathon making money online.
    Cheers

Hi Roamy. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Good to know I'm on the right lines and like the reference to marathon.
