Where Do I Go From Here? :(

Hi Everyone,

To be honest, I don't want to write a "self-pity" blog but I don't know where to go from here.

It has been 7-8 months and I'm still not seeing the results that I wanted - at this point, even getting $20 a month would make me happy. It's not like I didn't put some effort into my business.

So far I have 460 people who like my Facebook Page and 1090 Followers from Pinterest. I have a busy schedule but I still try to post 1 blog (1500+ words) per week and I have a total of 42+ blogs so far. I have affiliate partner accounts with many brands, yet $zero monthly income. I've taken the training materials here at WA and put all the things I can go into action.

I know many people have been through here and for those of you who did, PLEASE share me your routine or other training that you have taken or any advice (aside from just keep writting, don't quite and be patient - those are all encouraging but I need a concrete solution to my current situation) that will help me get through this..

Thank You In Advance For the Help

Regards,

John Greg

I have been in your situation many times.

In my opinion?

The problem can be defined in three parts.

---

1: Traffic

47 posts is a microscopic sample size if you're relying on SEO for traffic.

I currently have 164 posts on a 9 month old domain and get anywhere between 150 and 350 organic clicks from Google each day.

And the resulting revenue is a lot less than you might think.

I feel that posting 3-5x per week would be a good goal for you.

---

2: Conversions

Traffic is only part of the issue.

You need to target traffic that is going to be receptive to your affiliate offer/business goal (email opt-in, comments, etc).

Keyword research is the foundation of this.

But also think about what problems you are solving for your audience and what kind of action they are likely to take upon seeing your post.

Are they ready to buy?

Will they just read and click away?

Put yourself in their shoes and figure out how you can both help them and shape their intent.

---

3: Time

If your domain is less than 12 months old you absolutely cannot give up.

With so much content being added each day, competition in the SERPS is getting harder.

So, you need to allow Google to realise that you have a high quality site and rank you accordingly.

---

Conclusion: Increase Your Post/Week Rate

It's my personal view that 1x post per week is not enough.

If you could increase that without sacrificing quality then this is what you should aim for.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Dan

Hi,

This is a sweet direction for me. It is really hard to go somewhere without knowing where to go. At least now I have some directions coming from experienced bloggers.

John Greg

Don't give up. Double your efforts. And then some.

Publish every day if you can.

Or at least 3-4 times a week.

I don't think 47 posts of 1500words in seven months is enough to get you the traffic you need; at least not at this stage.

What are your rankings like?
Are you dominating your niche?
Are at least half of your articles on Google page 1?

Have a great and productive day!
Best,
Alenka

Okay,

I will do my best to increase my posts. Do you have a routine that you do to be able to post regularly?

What type of post do you usually do? i.e. short post (300 to 600 words), long post (900+ words), lots of images+headings, videos, etc?

Thanks in advance for your tip.
JG

I publish 6 times a week. My posts are between 1200-2000words. There is no point in writing short posts of 300-600words, at least not in the beginning and if you are not in the news and entertainment niche.

From three weeks ago I also publish 6 videos per week. I write an article and record a video to go with it.

My schedule varies because I have small children and do two part time jobs so I cannot be very specific about it.
I just try to get it all done, that is the main objective.

Hope this helps.

Just go for it with even more fervor and the results will follow.

Deng.. That's a lot of work, but at the same time at least I now know what kind of work I should be doing. :) Thanks!

I agree, but I also think it's a lot of work working for someone else and being someone else's passive income.
Work for your site. Work super-hard and it will pay off very soon.

Hey John Greg! Thanks for sharing this post. Truly understand your side.

I found what I learned here and from other member's help the last 4+ months... - are valuable things that would have cost me a ton of money to learn it somewhere which I do not have (yet).

I always go back to the reason 'WHY" I'm here in the first place.
Wishing you the best.

Terri

Hi,

Thanks for the reminder. Yes, you are right! I need to focus on my "Why".

Regards,
JG

John, I have been here for almost 3 years and haven’t made anything either. There is no easy solution and Kyle and Carson will tell you as well that they had to work at it for a while before seeing results.

I know where you are coming from and not that long ago I was already to hand over (not sell) my sites to someone else and walk away. As you can see though I am still here.

You have to believe in yourself which is easier said than done I know and it is entirely your choice at the end of the day as to what you do but if I knew there was a way to tell you how to get that money coming in I would be delighted to share once I had conquered it myself first.

I want to wish you well and hope you keep going. Xxx

Hi,

Thanks! I will persevere!

Regards,
JG

John, you are very welcome and if at all you need help or want to rant or anything just give me a shout. Pleased to see you want to persevere. xxxx

I feel your frustration. I have been here 9 months and seen no shift yet in my sales and earnings. I keep plugging away as everyone here says trust the process and this platform. It takes hard work and a lot of patience to succeed. I am now just concentrating on better content without the sales pitch. More help to the people reading my posts, and less selling. Stick with this you may only be two feet from your pot of gold. Hope I helped in some way. Good luck to you

Thanks!

That is true. I should focus more on my content. I should focus more on helping people and providing value to them.

Regard,s
JG

Go for it. I look forward to reading about your continued success

7-8 months is still too early to see any major results. But also depends how competitive your niche is. But right now since you are still so early I wouldn't focus so much on how much money you make every month but focus on your growth. Does your traffic increases? Do you get more clicks on your affiliate links? If you see growth in these then sales will eventually come.

My website is 14 months old and I still don't get much in terms of sales. But I see constant growth in traffic and right now I get around 150 visitors per day which actually start to bring more clicks on my affiliate links. Which means that eventually I will get more chances to get sales.

I write 2 articles per week which I don't consider much but that's all I can do right now. So I keep working, I keep seeing growth so I am patient that as traffic grows I will make the desired breakthrough in sales also.

Ahh,

You are right. Increasing traffic seems a good goal to have at this stage. Thanks for your insight!

Also thank your for sharing your story. At least now I have concrete numbers to target.

Regards,
JG

I mean, it all comes down to how much you want it?

Are you interested in succeeding or are you committed to succeeding?
Nothing ever great in life has ever been built without amazing amounts of persistence.

Bill Gates worked for 10 years without a day off. That is 3650 days without rest to create Microsoft what we know today.
The founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken struggled with all kinds of businesses until his 60 or 70 when he founded Kentucky Fried Chicken. About 40-50 years it took him.
Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb and everything clicked.

Pick yourself back up!
And back to writing, my friend!

Actually at this point , I am aware that I am still new to the business and I still need a lot of post and time needed to get a good income flow. To be honest, all I am asking is at least $3-5/ month just to give me an assurance that I am going somewhere.

Thanks for your insights though. I know them and their story. Thank you for your post. It reminded me that I once told myself that I will be like them

Regards,
JG

I'm sure you will get more relevant advice but from someone who has been in a similar situation I thought I would give you my few pence worth.
I did quit once but then came back because the lure of a "lap top" life style was too strong.
I am doing the training all over again which, trust me, a lot more sticks the second time around.
The one thing I learnt is that great content is all well and good and will get you followers but are you telling them how to get what you are trying to sell them?... more calls to action maybe?
There was a post here somewhere some time back about the 3 fundamentals of selling anything.
1) Tell them what you got
2) Tell them what it can do for them (benefits)
3 Tell them how to get it!

Good luck I'm sure you will do great.

Hi

Thanks for your advice. Ill keep in mind the 3 fundamentals that you have shared so I can improve my call to action.

Thanks so much!

Regards,
JG

Hi John wish I could help but I’m just getting started myself and it’s taking a lot of my time up and the kids are on a2 week break from school now so I’m not going to be able to do much this next 2 weeks

Hi,

I guess taking a breather is more productive than burning out ourselves.

Regards,
JG

In which niche are you? And can I check your site? Do you have Google analytics?

My niche is about personal finance/ work from home.

Yes you can definitely check my site. The name is wealthbuildertips. Just google it.

I have Google Analytics but that thing is overwhelming me. I'm planning to get a lesson from uDemy sometime soon. I am still trying to focus on Facebook Ads. I am thinking if I have 1k-2k plus in my Facebook page then at least I would get more traffic. Of course, I understand that in order for my followers to see my post I need to "Boost/Pay" FB for it.

Thank you in advance for your tip.
