Hey... I've got a question!

  • We see it every day... I can't get my questions answered.
  • I'm trying to be kind and understanding, however, many questions I see are already answered.
  • Most are answered in the lessons, and at the end of each lesson.
  • The chat room is full of questions and answers.

It's easier to ask than it is to research, however, research helps you understand your questions. WA is full of answers and if you Google the question, your answer usually shows up.

I'm sure some will say I am being too hard, especially on Newbies. Not... we all have to realize that everyone is busy and to ask others to do your research is not fair to those who are also struggling to build their websites.

Bottom line... continue to ask... WA encourages that and we have some wonderful members who can answer 99% of the questions, but when someone has to take time to answer a question that has already been asked and an answer given, it drains resources.

Just look at the top of your dashboard and there is a section there that you can ask any question and most of the time, the answer will come up as already been answered.

Don't agree with me? Let me know. I can't help it if I'm right!

I'm coming up on 6 years here at WA and have even written a blog similar to Jerry Huang blog targeted toward newbies answering many of the most commonly asked questions a newbie might have.

I do however see both views on this subject' I had a ton of questions when I started here and I was also skeptical and scared.

Getting around the Wa website can be intimidating for a newbie given the fact that there is so much information to take in.

I always advise my referrals to follow the training as laid out and most of the questions they have are answered in the training. Some times there are questions one needs answered asap which is where the search bar at the top and the community come into play.

Great Blog,

Jason

Great reply Jason.
Joe

I totally agree, Jason,

I did not have the luxury of asking questions when I started my own business, and if I had I would have been successful much sooner than I did
Jeff

You are so right. And we should ask our questions in the "Need Help" section above FIRST before asking it of anyone here. It is important to realize that many of us can come back to the training over and over and get some more out of it that we missed the first and second and even third time. So we need to be patient with the newbies who are trying to wade through this interesting training, as we learn the ins and outs of WA information. Just saying!

So true.
Joe

I didn't even realize there was that search bar when I started at WA. I found the option to ask questions in my profile first, in that overview with blogs posts, questions and trainings.
I'm normally always looking for every answer in google, that's my usual way to proceed. But I have to say I enjoy the help of others when I ask a question here occasionally.

Everyone should not be in fear of asking questions because others might think they are dumb questions, I feel no one in this community has the right to judge others and we all have different skills and lack other skills which might need help from members
Jeff

That's true that there is no such a thing as a dumb question. Each of us is at a different level of the training.
I also have to say I've received some wonderful answers to some of my questions.

Sometimes people just become overwhelmed and need to talk to calm down before moving on with their problem
Jeff

Great Lenka
Joe

This Is all true. I encourage people to ask questions. Is it not better for everyone if they just ask in the question box. If they aren't happy with the answer, ask the community. I think we're all saying the same thing unless I am missing something?

Of course, members should go to the search box before posting a question, so we need to find a way for more members to understand this search box exists.

I just don't want members to feel discouraged about asking questions, I do believe it would actually hurt WA

Jeff

I'm doing my part.
Joe

Very Good point Joe!!

There is an awful lot of info to assimilate, especially for a newbie.

As for myself, I have been here for about 6 months and I still feel very new. I still feel that there is way more that I don't know than what I do know.

I feel that each person should do their due diligence and dig into the training to look for the answers to their questions first. And then if they can't find the answer or if they feel that they are getting too frustrated then they should reach out and ask.

It reminds me of the saying that you can help 1,000 people but you can not carry one on your shoulders.

Great reply Ken!

Thanks, Joe! I’m so excited to have other friendly, optimistic people to interact with that I must admit, I’m already resisting the urge to ask questions! But you’re right, if I haven't at least TRIED, it’s selfish and lazy to ask someone who used their precious time and energy to do the work, and I’m perfectly capable of doing the work! I pledge to you and the others not to skip by on the coattails of a harder worker!! That said, if I do come to you with a question, I want you to know it’s because I can tell you’re intelligent and have done you’re homework, so I may be at an impasse and reach out, and if I do, I hope you’ll be open to contact! Keep up the good work!
Emily

Emily, we want you to seek the answers so you will know. When you're stumped, we want you to ask. We're here for you.
Joe

Great attitude, Emily,

We should try to solve our problems ourselves, but if we can't we need to know it is okay to post questions or many members might become frustrated to the point of giving up

Jeff

Thank you! I will...and I will!

what are you up to for the new year
