We have hours of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer panic!
That's how pilots describe flying!
- We fly for hours and nothing happens...
- Then a red light comes on the instrument panel... something is wrong
- An engine fails and we're 50 miles from an airport.
- We're on landing and a down gust drops us 50' and we're only 25' high!
- We have to shut down an engine... how do we explain it to the passengers.
- "As a precaution, we're shutting down an engine, but don't worry, the other one works!"
- Lie through your teeth!
Okay... everything was fine until you realized you were doing it wrong!
- Shut the engine down!
- Change course... find a place to land.
- Find out what went wrong... correct it... move on.
We were babysitting our 4 year old granddaughter. Her daddy called and she wouldn't speak to him. I asked her why? She said: "I made a mistake papa... did you ever make a mistake? Well, I made a mistake."
Shut the engine down... fix the problem.
Ring a bell with anyone?

I can relate Joe. I was offered an incredible unknown new line, back in the 80’s, “Members Only”. I didn’t want to move, turned it down, you know the history.... 2 years latter I missed out on $$$$.
Since then I have been more careful about overlooking new men’s clothing lines.....
Oh yes! Been there-this morning in fact. Woke up at 2:30 to pitch darkness. Couldn't find the flashlight- my kitchen and bathroom are inside rooms- so also pitch dark. The hallway that leads to all our apartments -also pitch dark. Finally found the flashlight--Spent the next half hour winding up the LLBean radio and LED light, so I could at least see where things were.
Popped up the lid on the Dell laptop and got residual light from the screen. went back to bed little after four- got up at 6. Still no lights-called security- lights out since 1a.m.- working on it.
8:30am--voila! lights.
You just do what you can and ride it out.

Things will always find time to wander off the path, being able to adapt, and change direction is a breakthrough mindset worth developing.
Not os sure about switching off the engine while up in the air though, Joe.
Definitely into finding that problem fixing and moving on.
Great reminder.
