Swimming against the tide!

Few do it!

  • Why... that's my question?
  • The pandemic has given us challenges, some almost overwhelming.
  • Businesses have adapted and survived.
  • Some did not and sank quickly.
Give up... much easier!
  • Why fight it... it's bigger than I am?
  • Really? It's easier to just drown that fight the tide!
  • People die every year... businesses go belly up... easy to do.
  • I have come so close, so many times, almost at the finish line and run out of steam.
  • Made it for 82 years so far and ain't going to quit now... too close to the finish line!
Throw in the towel?
  • I've been in the travel business for over 50 years... tell you anything?
  • No one is traveling... okay, I quit.
  • Not gonna happen... travel will return, meantime, I tighten my belt and continue to communicate with my travelers.
  • Stores are starting to offer online purchase and delivery to the curb.
  • Restaurants are offering menus on line and pick up the food with no touching.
  • Hotels are offering check-in without touching credit cards or keys.

I leave you with a quote from Charles Darwin:

"It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."

Can you make the change?

Charles Darwin might be right. I was out of town this week. The first restaurant we went to required us to read the menu on our smart phone (or computer). It was strange and not as easy to make a selection. I'm not sure what they did for those who didn't have a way to view it. Things are different BUT I was happy to be going IN to a restaurant.

You are so right. We must adapt our business and keep on going.
What is difficult is to see the division in our country. People not exchanging ideas but only hearing voices that agree with their views. Our government, all branches, are failing us. We the people must speak up now . We must swim against the tide in this area as well.,

Joe,

This is a great post. I was a travel planner and tour guide. I understand how the pandemic strikes a huge impact on the tourism industry (and all other industries as well).

John Maxwell said “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” So, I agree with you. The way we respond to change and rise above the challenges we face will determine our survival.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

During these uncertain times there are going to be more changes than some would like to see Joe. Usually I am against change I am getting old and prefer to work with what I know than learn new stuff, but I am on the internet and it is changing constantly.

We can and must learn to accept change as we go forward.

Always thought whoever said this missed it a little when he said- -Only two things in life you can count on is death and taxes-. Seems to me that one other thing you can be sure of is change--wait long enough, things will change. Count on it.

So true Barbara.
