Results. what are they?

How can you tell?

Robert White (no relation) said it well: "In life, you either have the results you want, or you have reasons to explain why you don't have them. If you have the results, you don't need the reasons"

The world is a results-oriented world. In the business world, you either get results or you're out. In the political world, the same thing (some politicians haven't learned that).

The Internet is even more vicious. You either produce a beautiful website, breathtaking content or you disappear. That's hard reality.

So, how do we deal with this fast-paced, breathless business?

STOP!

  • Evaluate. Where am I? Where am I going? Where do I want to be?
  • Over zealous? Too much on your plate? Not enough time?
  • Get real! My posts the last couple days reflect this new direction.
  • I personally can't continue the pace. I have to reflect on where I am.
  • Can you believe I have 6 websites! 5 too many...none of them are doing anything.
  • Our son-in-law is a coach for the Virginia Tech Football team.
  • At half-time, when they are behind they have a "Come to Jesus" meeting!
  • They explain the facts of life to the guys and tell them to get out there and win!

I don't want to use the phrase again, lest this be branded as a religious post, but it's time we all had a meeting with ourselves. Get real...set some realistic goals. Put is on paper or in the computer and give yourself sub-tasks on how you are going to reach those goals.

Now, get out of the huddle and back on the field, determined that you will make a difference in your own life first, then everyone else's next.

I have enjoyed reading your posts. This one is one that I'm thinking about as I'm waking up...so that's super cool. I agree with having too much on your plate. I decided to have a blog just for fun and realized I'm spending too much time on it. I need to get up and focus on the important things, then you can go back and work on another.

It's just doing the small steps that allow you to make life changes.

You have the right answer! One small step is all you need to make.
Focus on where you want to be.
Joe

I have three websites, and they're doing a whole lot of nothing. It's a labor of love with two of them. The other I will let die when the two years I paid for is up.
I think the huddle to Jesus is a great idea. But, yeah, no preaching here. Great post, Joe!

Thanks Cathy. Boy, do I know the feeling!

Rah Rah Rah, Ziss Boom Bah!! Thanks Joe for another great post. I know a guy who wanted to lose weight. That was his goal. He tried this, that or the other, and in the end, he reviewed where he was at and wondered why he wasn't losing weight. Next day, he went out and bought smaller dinner plates. 3 months later, he's lost 10 pounds.

Works every time!
Thanks for the reply.

Life is a series of decisions: I'lldo this and then I'll do that, etc. Pretty soon we have too many I'll do this decisions and we get bogged down.
I write a list of things to do everyday--trouble is I seldom even get started on the list before the day is through. And then I begin to prioritize and drop off the least important thing.
I had to learn that it's not possible to do everything I want to do, so everyday I have that meeting and pare down the "wants" until I get , to the "absolutely have to" and start there.
Success is learning exactly what we can accomplish and letting everything else fall by the way side.

Barbara, you nailed it! Just gotta decide what is important for the time. It works.
Joe

Wow, Joe, perhaps you've discovered your true calling--as a cheerleader, but hey. aren't we all cheerleaders here in WA?

Jeff

Jeff, I have always been a motivator. I love encouraging and motivating people and watching them grow. You are right, we’re all cheerleaders. You are a great one.
Thanks

Results and stats, tell us what we need to know.

As a Policeman, I hated them. As a Business owner, I love them

Stats tell us what we should be doing as opposed to what we like to do and give us a reality check good post.

Great reply Dave.
Joe

I agree, I worked in a corporate world and they don't about anything but great (not good) results! Anything too much is almost always bad!

So true.
