Laurels - who needs 'em?
Laurels - what are they?
- The ancient Greeks used them to crown the winning athletes.
- Here in the Smoky Mountains of the USA, Mountain Laurels are prolific flowers.
- Laurels are usually used to refer to achievements.
Don't sit on your laurels
- I've heard this expression.
- It means to not sit on your achievements and home they are enough.
- I like the expression: "Good, better, best. Never let it rest, till your good gets better and your better gets best!I"
What are your laurels (achievements)
- Post them on WA. Everyone likes to congratulate you on your achievements
- I have almost completed the training (been slow as I had to go back over some).
- I have my website up and running.
- I have moved up in WA rankings, at least temporarily
Rest if you must, but just don't quit
- Content. Keep loading more and more. You NEVER have enough.
- Keep blogging on WA.
- Finish the training and then do it again
- Take the extra training that is available.
- Help your friends here at WA that may be stuck, or discouraged.
Born in 1937, I was too young to serve in World War II, but I do remember a lot of it.
The great writer Ernie Pyle was a war correspondent who was killed in the war. He wrote some great books including: At the Front, and Back at the Front. I loved his stories and cartoons. My favorite was his two GIs (soldiers) Willie and Joe.
They always got in a line to see if there was food at the end of the line. Once they got to the end of the line and they were passing out "purple hearts", medals for soldiers who had been wounded.
In typical tired GI fashion, Willie replied: "Naw, just give me an aspirin. I already have one of those.I"
Don't rest on your accomplishments! Keep on trucking!
Joe
