I almost quit!

Six months ago I was ready to throw in the towel!

  • One year in WA. Had not finished lessons
  • Website was listless.
  • I was still working a full time job.
  • Age 81.

So, what changed?

  • ME! A change of attitude. A change of purpose. A change of direction.
  • I had been sales director of 100 plus sales people for over 25 years.
  • The boss asked me to come out of retirement for 2 more years...that was 4 years ago!
  • Finally, he said, I have another sales director and your time will end July 1.
  • That's when I realized I needed a new focus...a new perspective.
  • I renewed my Premium, finished the lessons, built 3 websites and that's when I realized there has to be more.
  • The commitment was made that I wanted to help people...how?
  • I looked at all the starters (newbies), many of them struggling with how to start.
  • Okay, so welcome every newbie to Premium - no, others are doing that.
  • Write encouraging blogs to help make someone's day - others are doing that also.
  • BUT I'M NOT DOING IT!

I needed a new mountain. I needed a new purpose. So, I launched my boat.

  • I committed to welcome every new Premium member, even if everyone else did.
  • I'm going to write a motivational blog/post at WA EVERY DAY, even if everyone else does.
  • My websites will be filled with content.
  • Writing training...can I do it? Don't ask, just do it.
  • Answering questions - you gotta be kidding - I'm not a techie.
  • Did I want to see my rank go up? Wasn't really aware there was one.
  • Do I want to be Ambassador? Thought that was a political position?

With a new attitude, a new motivation, a new purpose, I dug my heals in.

  • I am not competing with anyone. I Just wanted to help people.
  • That's's where I am. My friend told me "some will, some won't, so what"!
  • Like it or lump it...your choice

Bottom line

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit"

Wonderful words and thoughts to keep in mind when things are going to a stall.

Thank you. I really needed to read that this morning.

Thanks Mark. We all do.

Love that poem, Joe. Of all who have tried Whittier said it best. Newbies need the encouragement-even some of us who are not so new-because quitting is a lot easier than continuing on. Thanks for your example.

Thanks Barbara.

Thanks Joe, I have been struggling this past week and I have not done anything at all on my WA partly due to being very busy and also due to not feeling well but I was also experiencing some doubts about whether I should carry on. I will carry on as I do have things to lose if I don't. Thanks again for the motivation.

There'll be days like that. Just gotta hold on! Just one more day.
Joe

Joe I believe so many people have been in this situation before. I have had my ups and downs, doubt, can I really do this and financial issues. It is so easy to throw in the towel, but it's the ones that dust themselves off and do it again. Thanks so much, great post
