Dont leave me standing here!
The words of my flight instructor!
- The date: December 18, 1953. My 16th birthday.
- The place: Bowman Field, Louisville, Kentucky.
- The occasion: My first solo flight as a new pilot.
I had just finished the minimum 8 hours flight instruction and had just completed 3 successful takeoffs and landings.
There was snow on the ground and it was bitterly cold. No heat in the cockpit!
He would wait at the end of the runway by a barrel of burning trash, while I made my mandatory 3 takeoffs and landings by myself.
Okay pilot Joe... relate that to WA!
- Ever feel you were standing alone and cold in the lessons?
- Are you tempted to quit, not finding the answers?
- Tired of posting and seeing no results?
Hey... you're not standing at the end of the runway in the snow and cold!
You have tons of help and a whole support group of friends who have your back!
Song from "Toy Story", "You have a friend in me."
You have a lot of friends here... enjoy us!

Hi Joe, I like your comparison. I have been with a lot of different things with this concept but they never seem to work but here they do and I'm so thankful I got here and don't plan on going anywhere. Thank you for the post!

Yes, Sometimes I feel frustrated but knowing all the good guys in our WA community helped me get on to my journey. I believe frustrations happen though with varying durations of time from person to person. Thanks, Joe. Very encouraging and inspiring! 👍😊🔥
I know we all get down at times, but if you stay on track and experiment with new strategies you will succeed
