Play around with the themes just TWO Piece's of Advice
Jay always says to keep the Website Theme "Simple" with not a lot of Widgets etc
And the MOST important Piece of Advice is to Always BACK up your site BEFORE you change anything.
for Example
-Install new Plugins
- Change Themes
-etc
You will get that lesson in your future classes on the platform

I am always looking for different ways to improve my site. Still trying to figure out the best plugin for creating a mailing list. Something that is simple to activate and use.
I use mailchimp because it is free and that's just where I'm at right now! Lol. It has worked well for me. It's maybe not as fancy as some others, but it has many options, allows you to create landing pages, lets you set up emails that are auto-sent at sign up, etc.
Thank you. I have read a little bit about MailChimp because it was a free service and that is what I need right now. Just to get something up and running.
I've used Aweber for many years and never had any issues. It is a paid service Email Autresponder and you control your list.
It is very important to have your own list because if WA were to go out of business tomorrow you would have nothing or anyone to sell to.
There are free email providers like MailChimp but not sure if they have an auto-responder service.
If you use one of these services there is a plugin you can add and use the widget to install on your site.

So right now I use one called Email Subscribers & Newsletters. It's nice for collecting email addresses, sending out notifications when I publish a new post and for sending newsletters manually.
I'm currently looking into MailPoet 3 (New) as it seems to offer autoresponder capability as well.

Hi Joe. I'm sort of new to this as well (been here 2 years but just really got started on the training a few weeks back). What I'm finding is that as you go along, either plug ins will be suggested or you will want to do something specific on your site which will require you to go find a plug in. I'm just adding them as I go along and find they are required. Meta Tag Manager and Updraft Plus - Backup/Restore are a couple I've added along the way.
Thank you for your response. I have received feedback on my site and posts and people have suggested I get started now but I am not finished with the training just yet.
Also- if there are any training forums or blogs about the topic... please share. I appreciate you ALL!
