There are several premium Wordpress themes designed for affiliate marketing. Do you have a preference? I've read good things about REhub, but as we all know, marketing material

It boils down to personal preference and the look you want to achieve. Believe it or not I use a magazine theme for my drone side and a theme designed for Gyms for my WA promotion site.

I use and recommend Thrive Themes Membership which gives you not only a choice of themes but also a number of essential conversion-optimized plugins. Ask me for my affiliate link.

A new person asked if it was possible to change his referring person from the one that referred him to WA to somebody else.

I didn't think of asking him why, but I told

The only sure way is to leave WA altogether and then come back after 30 days and sign up under someone else.

Be sure to download a copy of your site though and then you can simply upload your copy into your wordpress again as a brand new member when you create a new site.

You would of course have to use a different computer to sign up but there are a few options for doing that in an internet cafe or public library.

Hello Joe. I think your answer was fine.. :)

And you are right, there is no way to CHOOSE your sponsor. It all depends on whose link you clicked first to come to WA. It's not polite to want to change sponsors when their ACTUAL sponsor has done all the work. THeir actual sponsor should be the one compensated for the work.

Good point, Reyhana.

I was thinking maybe he knew somebody in the program and wanted to give the commission to that person.

Still, you're right. the original sponsor should be the one rewarded.

As they say, "Finders keepers, losers weepers." :-)

Morning Site Support folks!

I accidentally deleted the text in the Hosting Review Template in Websites > SiteContent > Templates. Is there a way to recover it?

Just checked. Not there, either. I suppose a low-tech fix would be for somebody to copy/paste theirs into this comment thread. Then I could grab it and paste it back into mine.

Hi - I just opened mine up, there is no text in it. Are you sure there was in the first place?

Really! Well that would explain that. I guess I don't remember whether there was any text in it. Apparently there wasn't. Brain fart! Thanks for your help.

Hmm. I wonder what the point of a blank template is.

Did you definitely delete it or has it gone to your unpublished tab?

How do I insert a linked WA banner in my blog header? I searched through the previous questions. I'm probably using the wrong search terms, but I'm not finding what I need ther

It depend on your theme you kinda have to think about what you want as you build. When you are ready to put your touch on it there is problems.won't work.

Not all themes have header or above post widgets. If your chosen theme has this option then you would do exactly the same as you would for a sidebar widget.

Hi, Joe!

It depends on the theme you are using. Not all themes will let you put a banner in the header. Which theme are you using?

Gary

I'm using a child of the Twenty Sixteen theme. I think I'll look around for a non-WP-default theme. :)

StudioPress has some great themes. I use their Magazine Pro theme and it does allow you to put a banner in the header.

Thanks, Gary. As dim as I am, I'll need to figure out if StudioPress is compatible with WordPress. Is SP a competitor of WP or is it just a subset of WP? Will my existing WP pages and posts work with SP, and all the other probably obvious questions.

Joe,

StudioPress is just the name of the folks who build themes for the WordPress platform. It's not a competitor of WordPress. Your existing pages and posts will work perfectly with a StudioPress theme.

Changing to a Studio Press theme only changes the appearance of your site and adds functionality, like adding a banner in the header.

Studio Press (StudioPress.com) has a couple of dozen themes. I'm using Magazine Pro on my ScamAvenger.com site. It has a WA banner in the header. Not all of the StudioPress themes will let you put a banner in the header, so as you shop for themes be sure you're getting what you want.

Over the years, I've used themes from other places but have been the happiest with StudioPress. The themes are easy to use and they have excellent support. Several WA members use themes from StudioPress.

When you get a StudioPress theme, you actually must get two themes. The Genesis theme, which is the platform or parent theme, and a second theme, which is actually a child theme. Together, these cost about $75.

In the future, if you wanted to change the look of your site, you will only need to get a different child theme which is about half the price.

Gary

Get it from the 300Airplane above your profile picture.

Does your header have a widget section? If so then you can put the banner into an empty page or post, link to it.Then you will need to go into the text and copy the html code. Once you have done this, go to widgets and grab the text widget and put into where the header widget is. Paste your code and it should work, but remember to save as well trash the page or post you used to create the code. Hopefully that helps.

I want to verify ownership of my websites on Google Website Tools.

I need to copy the provided line of metadata into the child theme's header so it doesn't get overwritt

Hey there,
Just thought I'd mention it might be easier to just add the code into your All-in-One SEO if you have it...I believe you can also find an option in the SEO plugin from Yoast as well, but I haven't used that one myself.

In the past, I had my code in the header.php file of my site and almost had a heart attack when I thought I suddenly lost all my traffic, lol...a new WordPress update had wiped out my code! Using the option in the SEO plugin is much easier than updating your code every time WordPress updates...just my opinion though.

Anyways, I know Jay (Magistudios) covers how to add this in the webinar here at Hopefully this helps you out some...
Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Exactly what I was thinking about. Thanks, Sherry!

The reason that there is no header.php is that your child theme is set up to 'inherit' the header.php from the parent. You should not need to copy it over.

Hi Mel,

Thanks for that. The problem is that if I copy/paste the HTML meta tag into the header file of the parent theme, it will disappear when the parent theme is updated by Wordpress. I will then have to go back and copy the HTML code back into the parent header. This is avoided by putting the HTML in the child theme's header file so that it survives the update of the parent theme.

I've never experienced this 'overwrite' that you're describing, so I have no solution. :(

Well, so far, it's only theoretical for me too. :) I guess I'll just wait for the next update to see if it actually blows up on me. Thanks for the help!
