Those cursed Cell Phones

We call them mobiles in Australia.

I bought my wife a new phone as a present. Well it's turned out to be a curse.

I spent three hours on a chat line with the new provider trying to port the phone number over from the old one. We had no success.

Finally, I found out that my old provider had locked the phone for some unknown reason. It was on a completed contract and shouldn't have been locked.

So problem solved.

You Think!!!!

I received an email stating that the number had been successfully ported over.

Well.

It had, but the service still came up 'No Connection'

So back to Chat with the new provider.

So far we have tried removing the Sim card, switching the phone off, waiting three minutes, and then putting it all back.

Still nothing.

This is my first day out of bed after my back injury and so far I've spent Four hours trying to fix this issue.

I'm over it.

If only my wife could have been happy with a new number

Now I'm just waiting for them to 'trouble shoot' it.

AARGH!!!!

Just found out it's a faulty Sim card.

Now I have to go to the shop and get a new one, then come back to chat line and try again.

I hope your day is better than mine.

All The Best. Jim

My husband inherited my old iphone from me when I got a newer (but still not very new) one. We tried to move my old cell number to my new phone but something screwed up and we couldn't get it back. So we both had to get new cell numbers... and then try to remember them, ugh. Oh well.

Definitely, my day was just as bad as yours. I woke up to find my Wealthy Affiliate emails inside SPAM. I spent half the day redirecting them to the INBOX until I was satisfied that all my new incoming WA emails found their way into the INBOX.
I am now glad that the problem has been sorted out. Have a better part of the day, Jim.

Thank you Joseph.

You've got more patience than I my friend. It would have been used for target practice by now. So sad that you pay good money device that the tech support guys can't figure out. My first smart phone was an iPhone 4 I think. Worked perfectly until it didn't. That was in Dec 16. Replaced that phone with another. Oh, the old phone? target practice.

My wife had threatened to throw it. Fortunately everything was quickly fixed today.

Jim,

You have just got over one ordeal don't do yourself an injury bt blowing a gasket!! lols

You know the drill this is normal fayre for these bandits!!

Take reason and it in your stride don't let the bandits get to you....difficult I know only don't!! ;

R.

They're definitely bandits.

ha ha ha ....I was waiting for that!! ;

Oh my, that is frustrating. To be honest, I hate "chats" because it takes too long. Sometimes it seems as though you're not the only they're chatting with because it often takes quite a bit of time before you get a response to your message. To be fair they may be checking for an answer, so who knows.

If you could just get on the phone the problem would be resolved in a reasonable amount of time.

It's either chat or talk to somebody who barely knows a word of English after being on hold for 45 minutes

That's true.I prefer Chat.

The problem with that was that one telco had an incredibly long waiting que and the other one told me to go to chat because they were experiencing difficulties.

I get it since that has happened to me as well. It seems quite a few companies are having customer service issues, which isn't good news for us.

Yep, that has happened to me as well. It seems the pandemic has caused some real problems for companies trying to serve their customers.
