How Many active Followers do you have?

According to my latest figures I have over 3000 followers here at WA.

I couldn't help wandering today just how many of them are still active at Wealthy Affiliate.

I'm not sure what the purpose of having that many followers is. I've noticed members here at WA that have very few followers, yet they are in the top 50 of our rankings.

Another thing I've noticed is that Those people with fewer followers seem to get many more likes on their blogs than those that have heaps.

What are your thoughts on this?

Should I start unfollowing?

All the best. Jim

I've been unfollowing several who waste my time with relatively irrelevant posts. As for the ones who are inactive, well, they don't waste my time.

Obviously, you aren't one of them :)

Thanks Marc. I hope I'm not. Please tell me if I start to ramble on. Jim

fair enough and likewise!

Thanks for sharing Jim,
You bring up an interesting point.
I don’t have nearly that number, but I don’t post here as often as you have.
I wonder how long someone can remain inactive and still be considered a “member”... if the fees are being paid I suppose indefinitely.
Have a wonderful day!
KyleAnn

Thanks KyleAnn

I see that many recent members have thousands of followers.Usually new members say I will follow you if you follow me.But what does it mean that you follow somebody.?To me it means that you will receive a notification of their new blogs and online comments. So,are you willing to read posts from thousands of members? Is that the best way to spend your time?As a rule I follow only people that create posts that are interesting and helpful. There are several seasoned members that regularly offer tutorials and posts that are helpful to me.Those are the ones I follow ,and they are for the most part ranked 100 or below. Those members are the ones I follow and look forward to their posts. What is the point of following somebody who has not written any posts?Am I missing something.?I want to make clear that the WA community is fantastic but we need to budget our time so that we are not distracted from our goal of learning and creating successful websites.

That is a great point that you bring up and I do not have and answer to your question of what the benefit to having a large following is.

I just started following everyone that follows me to have an oppertnity to interact with people through the message.

Interested to see the other reply's you get to this question from the more experienced members.

I don’t think it matters how many members are in your network, I expect many new members follow others to get to know people and to network.

If they want to follow you then you must be of interest to them but you don’t have to follow back if you want to only follow people who you find engaging with their posts I quite agree.

Very true. But following those 100 and below might mean you miss out on some good information . There are people here, such as myself, that ranked under 100 (I was at 60), but decided that spending to much time in WA commenting etc was affecting their Websites. Since making the commitment to spend more time on my sites my ranking has dropped to around 150. Jim

It is all about budgeting my time so I spend enough time writing posts for my websites.I had to pick a cut-off point. Fortunately I am following you although your ranking may have changed. Actually rankings go up and down, they do not mean much to me otherwise.

Hey Jim,
I have many followers and some that no longer belong to WA. I have heard that it's not good to unfollow people. So I would just leave your count alone.

Tried and True

Elaine

Thanks Elaine.

Jim,
While my network is quite a bit smaller than yours, I understand what you are saying.
I know there are a few on my list that are no longer active, yet they still show up on the list.
As for unfollowing... my thoughts are on the fence with this. 🤣
Shaunna

Yes, it's a difficult decision.

Same burning question. I have noticed that the people I followed or started at the same time as I, most of them are no longer active. 🤔

It's interesting, if only there was a way to know.

I have always wondered if having many followers is a plus or not here in WA.

I have also wondered how beneficial or not it is to follow a lot of people in WA?

How do you determine who you are going to follow?

To start off I looked at people in the top 200. But I soon realised there were new members that were ranked low but had an incredible understanding of affiliate marketing. In a lot of cases (not all) I read their profile and find out a bit more about them. But I'm thinking more and more every day that I should simply concentrate on my website. Jim

There are ma y successful marketers here at WA that do not participate in the community hence they have know high ranking level.

Concentrating on your website is the most sensible thing and needs to come first.

Those top WA affiliates are probably busy posting and creating lots of useful trainings.
His is the way to get many likes and comments, I suppose.

All the best!

Bob

Yes, some are, some arent.

I did look into all that before commenting.
