Can anyone help me figure out why I can no longer upload new media files?

I hope you get it sorted out, my friend!

Hey Jim,

What makes you sure that you can no longer upload new media files?

If you are getting a prompt like the following:
"An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later"
then you could try the following work around: Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Triblu. What makes me think that I can't upload images is because they won;t upload. I click on upload, and nothing happens.

Did you review the training in the link I provided above?

If you are not confident enough to troubleshoot this issue yourself, you can always reach out to SiteSupport: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

Yes, that video seems to be concerned with moving images already in your media library, onto a post. But my problem is that I can no longer add new media to my library. When I click on "up load images", nothing happens. It has always worked in the past, for almost four years now.

Not so Jim, so if you are this confused, you will need to turn to SiteSupport for help. Link provided in my comment above.

I do appreciate your help. I am involved with site support, but they don't seem to be understanding the problem. They sent me a link for transferring images from my media library to a post. And I am trying to explain that I have no problem with that. My problem is that I can't upload new images to my library, so that I can transfer them to my posts. You see, when you go to add a media image to a post (I'm know that you know this already, but bear with me please) so when you go to add an image to a post, you of course click on "add media". And it brings up a page that gives you the choice of adding from your media library, or uploading new images TO the library. So then you click on "upload files", (in the upper left) and then you click on "select files" in the center of the page. But that's when nothing happens. I cannot add new images to my media library. I'll see if I can get site support to understand this and maybe get it fixed. For all I know, it could be a computer problem, but I need to find out somehow. Thanks again ma'am.

Then the video above WOULD / COULD help you, I'm sure. Hope you get this resolved to your liking soon.

site support suggested that I try a different browser. I switched to google chrome, from Microsoft edge, and it worked fine. I asked them if they had any idea why edge would suddenly quit working for that one particular function. I do appreciate all your help. thank you again.

i have just tried mine and no problems
are you up to date with your plugins and wordpress
i saw someone else asking about not being able to add images and it was a popup blocker on thier browser
what have you changed recently
good luck sorting it

It is pprobably a plug in conflict have you added any plugins lately

Thanks, I'll check my plug-ins and my settings.

I had a similar situation. Here is the answer that I found for it. I am not sure if it would work for you, but it is worth a try. Here it is:

The "HTML Look" happens when the CSS (stylesheet) for that page is not loaded properly. Now, why that happens is a more complex issue. You'll need to do this to troubleshoot that issue:

1. Open Tools | Developer Tools from Chrome menu.
2. Switch to Network tab there
3. Keep that window open, browse as usual. Once you see that phenomenon again, go to that Developer tools window, and see which file was not loaded properly and why.

It could be a DNS issue, or some transparent proxy acting up, or some other problem. My own company's CDN (content delivery network) provider had issues recently, and it manifested itself in a similar way to what you describe here.

If the issue is transient and goes away after a refresh, it could be rather hard to troubleshoot.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll see what I can figure out.

Is it possible to contact people here at WA who are not in your network? For instance, if you have seen a post in the past, and would like to ask that person a question, is it

Hey Jim,

Hunt them down and follow them.

Whenever I read a great, helpful post (or comment for that matter) by someone I'm not following, I immediately follow 'em.

Trish, that is exactly what I do! And when I do that I try to visit their website. Imagine how much traffic you would get if we all did that!

I guess that's my question, How do you hunt them down? I tried entering their name in the search box, but no results.

Ah ... so you know their REAL name but not their "handle" then. Hmmm ... what was the post or blog about? If you can remember the title even ... that might help us to help you track this person down.

Can you remember a word or keyword in that post that you saw in the past? You can search for them through our search tool here, and find among the results.

Which search tool would I use?

You don't need a search tool. Just type a name or phrase or question into the search for help box above here.

Type their username in the search box

I entered their name but I don't think it's their username. No luck with just their name. Thanks Chris

I wish you luck, Jim. Who are you trying to reach?

Pages get indexed every time someone does a search. How do you remove all those previously searched and indexed pages that are simply duplicates of one another?

Hey,

Do you mean that you don't want some pages to be indexed?
In that case you should just tick "Robots Meta NOINDEX"

No, what I mean is that when someone searches my site, google will index the pages that come up from that search. then when someone else does another search, some of the same pages might come up, and Google will index the same pages again. So what has happened is that I have ended up with over 500 pages that are indexed on Google, but my site only has about 60 pages. So all these duplicate pages are slowing down the site. My question is how do I get rid of all these duplicated pages?

This a technical question about how to find specific files that need to be edited to fix problems with expiry dates and with compression. How can I find these specific files t

If you are using Windows 10, the search bar is beside the Windows logo on the left bottom corner, on the taskbar.

Thanks, I'll look.

Type the file name in the search bar at the left side bottom of Windows.

Thank you Chris for the answer, but what do you mean when you say at the bottom of Windows?

If you are using Windows, on your desktop, there is a search box at the bottom left.

Do you have a Mac or a PC?

It's a PC. I didn't know you could find your wordpress files there.

lol. I misunderstood what you were asking. Is Google saying it is Blocking JavaScript or a CSS Style issue or what? I will show you.

I should have been more specific. Here it is exactly. When I use Google's "page speed developers" site to test my site, the results come back and it tells you exactly which files are causing problems. Some files may cause render blocking, and some files may require compression, and some may need expiry dates specified or changed. So I know exactly which files need to be modified, but I have no way to locate and modify those files. I did a google search for how to locate wordpress files, and found a wordpress article called, "Understanding Word Press Themes Files And Where To Find Them. The article suggests downloading "FileZilla" which will allow you to see all files, and pick the one you want to modify, and do so. Now my problem is that after downloading FileZilla, it asks for my server's address. So I contacted WA site support to get that address, and they told me to use my domain name. Well, that doesn't work, so I tried the WA domain name and that would work either. Where do I go from here to get FileZilla properly registered for my site, or is there another way to locate all the files on my website? If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it, Jim.
