Defining and Focusing Your Market Niche

The most successful Marketer are usually those who have differentiated themselves by specializing in a particular client niche. Finding a niche that you can become an expert in, helps you separate from others and allows you to focus on clients in that area. In today’s On-line market, it is critical that you update your current business plan and review the various products that you provide for clients and prospects. Next list your competitors and their abilities so that you can determine what makes you different. Make a list of these differences, then consolidate your thoughts and determine which niche might be best for you. Upon choosing a segment of the population that you are most effective at working with, you need to make yourself a specialist in that particular area.

Choose a Niche to Specialize in. It is important when reviewing your current list of clients to look for some common thread that defines your best clients. Focus your efforts on finding a group of people, with a similar need, that offer a strong opportunity in your market place. When doing this, please define a segment that is large enough so that there are at least a reasonable number of candidates in your market area, to not only prospect, but also work with.

As you review your current list of clients, think about what characteristics your best clients have in common, is it age, life style interest, gender, or even occupation. This will help you generate some ideas as to which niche may be a good one for you to specialize in.

Fully Educate Yourself About This Niche. No matter what market niche you specialize in, it is important for you to learn to think like your clients. From their perspective, what are their hopes and fears? What are their needs and concerns? Put yourself in their shoes. Start reading books about topics you think are of interest to these people, and if necessary maybe even take a course on this specific area.

Whatever your market niche is, please think about the problems and concerns unique to that market niche so that you can customize your marketing presentation in order to meet that prospects goals, needs, and objectives.

Offer Products That Best Meet the Demand of Your chosen Niche. Determine a full list of those products that need to be offered to best satisfy your chosen niche, start offering them on a regular basis. It is important that you emphasize products that are useful to both the hopes and aspirations of your chosen niche.

In your Website, start offering publications and periodicals that appeal to those in your niche. Also have available periodicals and product information those appeals to your niche.

In summary if you would like to elevate yourself to the highest levels of this industry then you need to think about specializing. Finding and focusing in on your niche can be a big step toward getting there.
