There are no problems when someone is trying to leave a comment on one of my blogposts. But there doesn't seem to be an option for an individual to leave a comment on my static

I'm having the same problem and for the life of me, can't figure it out. I've tried both methods recommended in this thread but to know avail.

Hi jhymas:

I tried appearance-->customize and it seemed like everything was already set to receive comments. I am using the default wordpress page I started with in Course 1. I seem to have a comment box on posts but not on the articles I write. My site is here: http://www.shortgameprowess.com

Could someone try to post a comment to one of my articles as a test? I don't see any way for a person to comment on any one of these. It looks like anyone can comment on my posts.

My site is: http://shortgameprowess.com

The reason you don't see a comment box below your posts is because you are displaying the full post in your blogroll.
If you make them excerpts (by using the read more function) people will likely click the post title to show the entire post which will display the comment box at the bottom.

Hi Steve: My posts have a comment box, but my articles don't. Is there a difference?

The very bottom article in your blogroll: A good short game paves the way to better golf" has no comment box at the bottom unless I click the article title.
People would have to scroll back to the beginning of the article and click an extra link to leave a comment. That's why I use excerpts instead of full posts in my blogroll.

Hi Steve: How do you do this? Does the same go for articles?

I am talking specifically about "posts" as this does not effect pages.
There is an icon in your toolbar (in your WordPress editor) called "insert read more tag" I usually insert that tag just above the fold on all of my posts. This way, people need to click that title or read more link to see the entire post and the comment box will be there at the bottom.

That possibly is in your default writing setting. Just to make sure it is NOT this, go to dashboard, scroll down menu, find where it says settings.. Click on it. The next screen you should have menu to select reading, writing, etc. Click on writing. Here you have control - and every theme is somewhat different, but you can change which page, post, etc that gets comments on. Some themes a static home page is not for comments, other themes yes it is.
I think that is how you change what you are wanting to do. I hope this helps.

Hi Ken thank you so much for taking time to answer my question. That ultimately wasn't the answer but I went to the theme developer website and got it figured out! Thank you again I appreciate it

You did well in resolving your issues. What was it, if I may ask. This way, the next time someone asks same problem, I will know the answer. Inquiring minds want to know.. lol

I went to appearance -> customize and then I went to my each of my pages and it gave me the option to turn the comment on each page :-)

Very interesting. Thank you for the heads up!

Your welcome!
