Do as I say, not as I do
Well, here I am, painted into a corner.
I had it coming, you may say after reading about, my many projects where I bravely lectured in project management.
The fact is, that immediately after writing that post, I saw it coming. And even so, I went for the brush and the bucket of paint and started painting.
It all started when I got a brilliant idea for a blog and bought an amazing domain-name to go with it. The idea was to let it all simmer in the back of my head while I finished some other things and then start up when there was available time.
Well, it simmered in the back of my head for a day or two, then it simmered in the front of my head, and very quickly all there was in my head was that simmer.
It is a good idea. And it needs to be executed. Perhaps it is even a better idea than my original project. But right now it has set me back a week because I have started planning on something that will not be ready for many weeks, while the project that is nearly ready has more or less been abandoned, all with the result that nothing at all gets done.
And as if this wasn't enough I have started doubting my original idea. Which there is no reason to do because the concept is valid and should be launched quickly.
So here I am in my corner, with slow drying paint all around me. And even if I am ashamed to say so, I have been in situations like this before.
Well, here is my plan.
I will stay in my corner while the paint tries and use the time to make a well-considered decision. I will mobilize everything I have learned about decision-making over the years and I will ask advice from those who have helped me in situations like this before.
But most of all, I will do nothing with either of the two projects until I am determined which one to move ahead with.
Also, this weekend is the big yearly boy's night out where I and my closest friends over the past 45 years will go out and eat and drink and solve both our own and the whole world's problems. And if that doesn't help, nothing will.

Jorn - Project number 3...solving the world's problems. Have fun with that one.
After enjoying some time with your buddies and a little more simmering, things will become more crystallized and you will surely settle on the most advantageous project.
Thanks for sharing.
Let the ideas simmer and have a good time. Which ever idea boils over first that's the one I do first. Good luck.
I loved this post. It brought a smile to my dial :)
I think I have had much paint drying around me .... often. I even have an idea simmering at the moment but I haven’t jumped in yet with domains etc. which is a pity because, well, it just is.
It’s a good idea - just a little hazy at the moment.
Thanks for another great post Jorn.

Thanks for reading.
You should act on your idea, at least get domain name, plus twitter user and facebook page name.
Great idea to take a pause and a bit of a breather with your buddies. I'm doing the same thing. The need for a new perspective cannot be over-emphasized and that requires a bit of time. Good luck.
