10 steps to a perfect blogpost
I may be over-reaching here by claiming that the result will be perfect, but after doing some research on this for a rather lengthy blog-post on a new blog that I'm setting up soon, I decided to post a very condensed version of my text here.
So here we go, but remember that this is just a suggestion meant for inspiration. There are many ways to do this.
1- Amazing heading
This is your attention grabber. It's the reason why people clicked to read in the first place. If this one is not good you will not get readers in the first place. it seems like my heading for this post worked since you are here already.
2 - Opening with a half-width image
The opening should not be more than 3-5 sentences and it should be filled with promises on what hey will learn if they read on. Identify a problem and make a promise to solve it.
The half-width image is to reduce characters per line and make the text easier to start to read. If people start to read, they are more likely to continue.
3 - Subheading with big promise
Should be what triggers people to read the following content.
4 - First content. The teaser.
Give your first piece of revelation to what you have promised above. Do what you can to trigger emotions in the reader. Emotional people are more likely to take action. Identify the problem and show that you understand. Ask questions and promise an answer if they read on. Make sure to break up the content and make it readable. Do not give all the answers here, save some for later, but always give a hint about what you are not telling.
5 - A quote or statement from someone
Anything that confirms that what you tell or sell solves the reader's problems.
6 - First call to action
This can be as simple as a 'click to tweet' for the quote above, or something like that. The important thing is to trigger action. If the reader clicked once they are more likely to do it again.
7 - Next subheading with another big promise.
Be more detailed in your promise this time. Tell your reader what they can expect to learn. This is the intro to the step-by-step guide or the 'how to' or whatever problem you are to solve.
8 - Second content. The answer.
This is where you give what you have leading up to the whole time. Solve a problem, describe a product, and so on. Practical advice that is useful and easy to implement. Trigger emotions, solve problems, show that you understand the reader. Use illustrations and make sure text is very readable. Use quotes or statements that confirm your story.
9 - Second (and final) call to action
This is the click to buy moment. By now you should have warmed up the reader enough that he or she is ready and willing.
10 - Third subheading and repeat
This one depends on what you are selling and how you intend to present your product. You can stop after #9 if that is works, but you can also put in a 'Still not convinced? Find out how...blabla' and then repeat the above elements leading up to another call to action to buy. Sometimes it is OK to catch people early if you have convinced them already and give a choice to read on for in depth information to those who still are uncertain.
There are many many elements you can use within each of these 10 steps to trigger emotions, to provide confirmation, and so on. Maybe that will be another post. (Click here to subscribe - hehe).

Good tips Jorn. If you serialize the posts you multiply their power!
Thanks. Serializing will work too
