No Kaju, I refuse to eat unborn Babies. While being in the Philippines myself many years ago I was taken to a buffet type of restaurant. Without knowing it I ate snake ragout, very nice by the way, but that is my limit.
I have ducks since 1983 and there is hardly anything cuter than watching baby ducks being taken for their first swim by Mother duck.

Greetings from a warm south, Taetske

I agree with Taetske! I have ducks and nothing cuter than the babies taking their first swim!

Thanks for the support.

I agree Taetske, doing something is different from watching someone else do something. However, the reality is that there are many, many countries that "enjoy" their own unusual delicacies, what is strange and bizarre to one is totally normal for another.

Being an animal lover myself, this is also a controversial question, "Where does life start?" Oh, we won't go there - that is an entirely different and likely non-agreeable debate.

This post merely institutes shock value as a way of grabbing attention and new business.

But can it sustain attention itself and build loyalty in the long run? A totally different animal, and something I posed today in the question forum here.

Cindy, by the way, I agree and I DIDN'T eat that! This was a client who invited us out to an unusual dinner, and it was unexpected. However, it does conjure one to question how shock and awe value can have a parallel and be used in one's own business.

I just don't believe it is sustainable.

Of course! and I totally understand and respect others culture! I have no problem with it just I couldn't personally go there with the duckies! I'm a huge foodie!

I also totally agree you hit the sweet spot for Awe Value with this one! ;-) Like I said in my first post, "You had me at Bone Marrow"!

And Bone Marrow is GOOODDD!!!!!

To each his own! ;-)

Injoy!

I hope you were not only shocked and awed with the indigenous display but you love to assimilate it in your life.

I love assimilation all ALL kinds Jimmy. And I love and respect all cultures of the world.

That's being a human.

Yes that's true Jimmy. Unfortunately too many humans do not practice "being human."

Because of cultural preferences and many others. But just to think you are a human person will break any barrier.

I referenced my taken down "sample" Shock and awe is more and more a way to energize content for a ever increasing jaded audience!

Yes, that has become very apparent Mike!

GOOD POST

Shocking one too Abdul!

You had me at Bone Marrow! ;-)

Bone marrow is AWESOME!!! Totally delicious Cindy!

Enjoy Injoy my friend!

It was too awwsum C !!

Taste and culture of different countries. Been offered many times balut and other not so my style food. Never been able to eat it and didn't want to try it.
But different countries different culture I respect that.

I totally respect it too, Sylvia. But what I "respect" and "try" are often times two different things!

Thanks for your comment and glad you could "stomach" this article!

My stomach is used to a lot of things, and I can tell you there were days I had to decide to eat or stay hungry.
I lived in Vietnam for 23 years ( 1989) I have seen many things what people can eat or think is a delicatessen. Still go there on a monthly basis for Business. Visit China regularly since 1987 and not the big cities places like Anshan, Shenyang, Fushun, Tianjin etc.
If I look back it improved a lot. When I see this places now you can sometimes find a tablecloth that is not grey and brown from food stains.

So mentioning these places you have "seen it all" in food culture! Things have surely improved, and that's encouraging.

When I was in Shanghai and Beijing in 2007-2008, everything was very westernized. However, I most enjoyed traveling to Nepal and the high cities within Tibet and eating with the indigenous people. The food culture is amazing.

When ine lives for 23 years in that type of environment, I am sure you can appreciate and acquire a taste for many diverse foods.
A wonderful thing!

LOL Kaju .. I am often in Phils for business meetings in my 'other life" .. have never been able to handle that dish.I cannot handle the chicken curry here in Indonesia with the chicken's head (amongst other things) still in it! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, William.

Oh Bill, I never realized you were such a "lightweight"!! (Lol) I'm kidding, but heck, the chicken curry in Indonesia is FLAMING! And the one with the chicken's head? Too much. I've been all over Indonesia, and the chili peppers can be simply too much!

Glad you enjoyed this gastronomic post with a business lesson!

I love balut! Looks like quite the spread

I tasted the juice and the yolk, its quite delicious Pablo!

coudos to you not sure how I would have handled it.
Lol

Probably just like Andrew Zimmerman. "If it looks good, eat it!!"

Reminds me of Bazaar Food Channel on TV!

Wow, you bring back very bizarre memories, Bobby. Thank you!
