Rats! I Found a New Niche!

When shock value falters, you better "dig a hole" or find a new niche!

Better yet, never give up and figure out the best way to get rid of rats!

For of all things to write and compose about, here was a unique rock opera about rats, but it didn't have the shock value nor the human element the writer clearly was intending to convey.

And I'm not talking about the cute, cuddly, and furry kind you buy from the pet store called hamsters or gerbils - I'm referring to the feral subterranean vermin that live off your garbage on the streets and down in the subway.

The ones that make us contemplate getting rid of rats outside.

Last week we were invited as free guests to see a new Off Broadway rock opera by a new agent we recently met at a recent event. He was the musical director of this play and the opera composer also doubled as one of the actors in the play.

It wasn't until 15 minutes into the actual performance before I realized what this play was about: actors portraying rats trying to find a new home and avoiding extermination.

The short of it is: a family of 7 rodents portraying the main characters are rejoined by their prodigal "son" who has returned from a long journey from a temple with his new friend a lab rat, and upon describing such a Utopian place where there is a never-ending abundance of food, wants to take the whole family back to the temple to live happily ever after.

Except the lab rat was an imposter who was in cahoots with the exterminators, and who eventually plots to lead the family into a trap, and succeeds in having the entire family including prodigal son gassed at the end.

Honestly, the music had some cool moments and I could appreciate the amount of work in the one hour long production, but the concept did not work for me as I found it really difficult to have empathy for these rats, particularly the subterranean subway dwelling kind.

Clearly the playwright was attempting to humanize feral rats, but it didn't seem to work very well here judging by the audience reaction, who applauded the music but seemed confused. Still, this play had its highly redeeming values. Never expected this, but I did some real digging with my WA keyword tool and found 2 AMAZING long-tail keywords to use for this new and surprising GREAT niche.

Getting Rid Rats Outside

Searches = 103; Traffic = 18 QSR = 0 (Amazing!!)

Best way get rid rats

Searches = 659; Traffic = 113 QSR = 11 (Absolutely Amazing!!)

Notice how unbelievable these stats are – and how I used BOTH amazing long-tail keywords within my first few paragraphs here – and repeated them later again.

I would expect that this article will rank well.

But if it doesn’t, oh well…..rats!!

However unlike digging into the dark world of unsympathetic subterranean creatures, when using the excellent free keyword tool provided by Wealthy Affiliate for digging up new and surprising GREAT niches, you are surely bound to receive some very welcome and pleasant surprises!

And that is GOOD for any business!

Thanks for your silent captivity in reading, and now start “digging up” some new niches!

Your feral comments and feedback are certainly welcomed!

Cheers,

Kaju

Sounds like the makings of a children's book.."The Rat in the Lab"!

Very interesting post. Amazing what people think of.

Quite frankly, I was expecting to see a big old Harry, feral rat served up on a dinner plate with a sprig of rosemary in its teeth and a side of Gouda from you Kaju! ;-)

Rat recipes could be a whole other niche! and a good way to help get rid of them! Eat them! (Well, not the garbage rats)...but they are considered a delicacy in some places.

Then my rats which would feast on walnuts would have a delicious taste I am sure.

Lol Cindy, about two months ago you may have got that image from me, but these days I am more sensitive to the sensibilities of the founders and as not to disturb our readers, after all its really important this post stays up as this niche is helping a helluva lot of people already.

Sure anything is edible, but the point of this article is more about pest control and apparently people need this.

Rats also make great pets, Taetske. I hear they are really cute!

Yep, I understand!

Lol! Reminds me of the movie Ratatouille, even though it bears little resemblance to your interesting blog. Just goes to show how a niche can come out of absolutely anything.

Anything Rose, absolutely anything! You are so right.
What I am most proud of, is THIS niche seems to be helping lots of people, in the way of perhaps writing their own articles to bring greater awareness of the latest pest control methods.

These pest control methods in many parts of the world is vital to the subsistence of the population, especially in rural areas.

Thank you for your comment!

Interesting this.

Thank You Doctor!

That's a great idea! :) I have to start keeping my eyes and ears open for Niche ideas of all kinds! :) Awesome post again Kaju! :)

I'm trying to stay creative Terry, thank you so much!
Lately I've been trying to clear my mind of all the garbage so the ideas can flow.

Obviously its working, and I hope to continue this run!

Kaju - Another great article and niche idea. It would seem that the subject of rats and long-tail fits well together.

I love your "long-tailed" comment Patrick, thank you. Very fitting!

Better yet, I'm realizing now how many people in the world need immediate pest control methods, as their livelihood depends on it!
Glad I uncovered this niche. Thanks for that recognition.

I like the new and unexpected niches that you keep discovering

Rats are nothing new, they have been around for as long as mankind.

I'm actually quite proud of this new niche "Rats" Pablo, it seems to be one that can help alot of people. Thanks buddy!

That's very true B, but unlike yourself many are not aware of how important and varied extermination methods are around the world.

Glad you are staying "cutting edge" and tackling the problem.

Hey that's great, and I so loved the graphic of the mouse in the helmet.

Ha! Thank you Dr. Carl, I loved that pic the moment i saw it too!

I'm no fan of rats, but I know they, like snakes and exotic lizards have a fairly large fan club. Fantastic post, and mu guess is, a pretty good niche, too.

I always liked the theme song from Ben, by
Michael Jackson.

I appreciate that Hal, hope you are well, its been awhile since I've seen you.

Rats, as it turns out from what I'm reading here, is a REALLY important niche, and something peeps in many parts of the world need to write about to get proper help.

This makes me really happy, that I can bring awareness to this niche and help some people. Thanks for your great comment!

Rats are the problem of our farmers often times here in the Philippines. If thousands of rat attack the rice field then the farmer debt will be doubled the next planting season.

Believe it or not I am typing this from a house literally in the middle of a huge Philippine rice field, my wife inherited the property in 2004 when her mother passed on. We constantly battle with the rats but, we use modern techniques most farmers don't have access to due to cost.

Have you controlled the rats as of these days? Here in Laguna it is still their problem.

Pretty much keep them out of the house but it is a running battle. I am in the Visayas, about 20 KM from Tacloban.

What they do here in some places is to have a blow torch and a stick with them finding all possible holes within their field any rat that escapes the torch can not escape from the stick.

Here we use poison, have to reapply after every rain and it rains often.

Obviously. that's a huge problem Jimmy. I suppose even more so for Phillipine farmers, pest control methods are critical to the success of the crop harvest.

Seems like we have BGough here with a solution.

You are very fortunate, Wow! I never truly realized hoe valuable this Rat niche really is!

So much never ending work, sorry you have to keep on this so tirelessly B!

Arghhh, you flame 'em out!! That s potent but when there are so many, this technique will only go so far and be so effective Jimmy.

I feel for those farmers, and you.

There are seasons farmers are really alarmed because rats are like throngs of armies attacking the fields. They poison, they electrocute and they can collect thousands.

What do they do with this electrocuted rats? Their disposal must be a big problem in itself!

They just bury it.

I am currently building a site on pest control which includes this subject and have noted those and other similar phrases using Jaaxy. The problem is this are nit "Grammatically correct" so one must look "English ignorant" to use either in a sentence. If you add words to them to make them correct the numbers change;

Getting Rid of Rats Outside

Searches = 103; Traffic = 18 QSR = 21 (Still very good)

Best way to get rid of rats

Searches = 659; Traffic = 113 QSR = 124 (Just okay now)

The point; I think google wants content which people find appealing, in my opinion all keywords must be grammatically correct.

No doubt, you are right BGough.
The long-tail keywords need to make sense or they will be penalized by Google.

However, even making the slight changes you have made to them, these are still GREAT! (QSR = 21...great)
