Prayers for Hurricane Florence

Our deep heartfelt prayers go out to all our friends in the ravaging path of Hurricane Florence down in U.S. states of Nortth Carolina and South Catlrolina along the coasts.

Make no mistake, as a Category 1 this is a very dangerous STORM even inland, particularly with the anticipated extended STORM surge, where due to the even Category 1 conditions the ocean rises and can completely wipe out small hamlets along the coast.

It made landfall at 7:15 EST as a Category 1 hurricane in North Carolina (sustained winds >75mph <90mph) but don't be fooled - this is a HUGE STORM of EPIC size and a very SLOW moving one, which means the storm surge (expected 6-10 feet) will continue along the Norteast coast for days.

Storm surges are the most prevailing cause of deaths from hurricanes, so I Pray that those living near the coast have already heeded the warnings by evacuating and sought higher ground inland.

And if you have not and decided to ride this storm out, we all pray for your safety.

They are also forecasting severe river flooding in cities and towns from Cape Fear northward. This Storm has already dumped upwards of 40 inches of rain in some areas.

Stay strong, stay together. Listen to your local authorities..There is greater safety in numbers.

Holding our hands together, we all stand as one and pray.

Be safe.

If you don't yet, I will happily return the favor when yours is up.:)

This is very scary stuff! Those in the eye of the storm sometimes think they're safe and nothing could be further than the truth.
I'm continuing my prayers for everyone's safety until the danger passes, which won't be for awhile.

Erica

I agree with you 100% i seen on the news earlier that there are over 150 people in need of rescuing because they decided to ride out the storm but couldnt because of all the rain and flooding plus all the storm surge that is coming in from the hurricane. I they stay safe you know?

Great point Erica, false confidence and this is too dangerous. This is going to be a long while, this storm is slow-moving. I am with you all in. WE will all continue to pray for the folks in Florence's path.

Thank You Erica:)

May All Be safe and protected through this storm.

Indeed Statius, Well-said. Thank You:)

You're welcome. All the Best.

Many underestimate how powerful these storms can be and think they can stay it out.

Strangely you have people that welcome these storms.
There was a documentary recently about "hurricane watchers" who actually seek out where the storms are to be in its path.

For one particular storm, this couple didn't realize that the storm they were heading for was nothing compared to ones they'd been in before. Luckily they came out alive! Really scary stuff!

Thrill seekers will do anything for an adrenalin rush - I pray for the safety of those who would rather be far from this storm than in it.

There will always be thrill-seekers Jackie i.e., hurricane watchers, tornado-chasers (OMG!), and those ones that go near boiling lava on the edge of volcanoes close to erupting (???!!).

Interesting how different people get off. We all will just continue to pray no matter what the conditions are, all will remain safe and alive.

Thanks Jackie, have a great weekend:)

You too Kaju.
The only hurricane I've experienced was in 86 in the UK. I remember it well as a viewer called in and said that a hurricane was looming. Michael Fish the weatherman at the time made light of it saying we had nothing to worry about, when he gave the forecast.

The next morning we woke up to utter devastation!

Thank God for technology that we can be better prepared.

The worst one in memory up in the Northeast US was Hurricane Sandy in 2012. As much as we anticipated it, it still blind-sided us. Imagine, such a large metropolis as NYC with all resources being blind-sided by a hurricane!

But that's because we experienced many false alarms over the years, but Sandy hit us with a 16 foot storm surge that "wiped out" coast areas of Manhattan!

It's sad when weathermen make light of things, and change the expectation. Glad you all made it through '86!

Wide-eyed!

Yep. Here to tell the tale. :-)

Great, we are happy for that J!

:):)

Thank you for sharing this...as you mentioned it has down graded but moving so slowly it is still a grave disaster in the making.

Sending another prayer for those on the East Coast!

These slow moving storms are some of the most dangerous because they "sneak up" on people. I really hope no one underestimates this one, because it's SO WIDE and will be hanging in the zone for days!

Dear Kaju, our prayers are with the people staying there.
May everyone be SAFE.
Warm Regards,
Gaurav Gaur

Thank You Garauv, indeed we ALL pray that WA members in the hurricane zone - and ALL people - will remain safe and make the right choices:)

Kaju
