Locked Out of Facebook

So I have been locked out of my Facebook account.

Can someone help here!

When I first login to Facebook and do this normally using my email and password. No problems whatsoever. Next step.

However, there is a second step to the login process. I have a "Two-Step Authentication Required" internally setup as an extra level of security, which verify my identity by sending me a 6-digit code to my email address I use for Facebook or to my mobile phone by text. I then must enter the code in the prompt "Enter the 6-digit code from your Code Generator or 3rd party app below".

In the past I would simply receive a text message on my mobile device from Facebook with the 6-digit code and enter it into the Code Generator. And I would then be logged in.

The problem is I recently changed my mobile number but never updated it with Facebook. So Facebook is sending the code to my former mobile number which I have absolutely no access to get the code via text.

Adding further complication, the email address I use for Facebook to gain access is a Yahoo email address I rarely ever use anymore. So as a backup when I try to gain access to my Yahoo email to get the code, I am further "stonewalled" by a SIMILAR two-step authentication process (no this one was NOT setup by my choice) that Facebook has plagued me with.

Both the mobile number for texts and the email address Yahoo has on file to obtain the code are no longer in use or accessible to me.

Finally, I have tried to reach Facebook Support many ways and have not received any response. And I don't have much hope. A total exercise in futility. The same has been true for gaining access to my Yahoo account through Yahoo support.

When attempting to reach Yahoo Help, there was a requirement that I pay a fee to go any further. What?!!

Short of opening a new Facebook account (which I don't want to do), can someone suggest a work-around on how I can regain access to my account?

Has this particular situation or something similar happened to anyone here?

Thanks for your feedback.

Cheers,

Kaju

Sorry hope you got the problem .is there no way to update your information on the account?

Thanks Courtney.

Hope to see you back soon buddy! Sorry to hear this happened to you. On hand of your post I wrote a new blog post so others can learn from this.

Stefan :)

Yes I did see that Stefan, thanks friend and you honor me!

Always my friend, always! :))

:):)

Hi Kuja, have you resolved this problem?

Randi

Still working on it, not resolved yet Randi. Thanks You.

Hi.....KAJU..... Keep sending back responses that you can't open because of security reason...ending with.... Please help me...thanks
Trying to reach them is literally impossible. Just keep sending responses like I said and you will eventually open.

It will take 4-6 weeks and finally, FB will send you an e-mail apologizing. It is very frustrating, I know SOOOOO now that you know it is frustrating then pass that thought to "Patience and Determination only...

Great advice, thanks Tommy I will keep that in mind while my patience is tried!

Yes, this has happened to me a dozen times and that is all I can do. I don't want to create another account either.

I agree Tommy, my account is old (2010) and I don't want to create a new account.

I didn't have to I finally got it back.... I just keep trying and e-mailing them over and over it took about 30 days....

You have more patience than I do, my friend!

There was no other alternative. I wanted my original account and I was determined to get it back....and I did......

Yeah, I know I will too

Thanks so much again Tommy:) I have a new YouTube channel where I'm producing great content.
Check out our great Tokyo story as well as my Efren Reyes match win video play by play:)
Send me your YT link and I will Subscribe. You can Subscribe to my channel here:)

If you don't yet, I will happily return the favor when yours is up.:)

Try to ask Facebook if there are any other way to unlock your Facebook account.

We cannot do anything if your cell numbers and email account are inactive and inaccessible.

Yes Jimmy, I'm gonna keep trying. And trying, and trying. If I lose patience at some point, I may just open a new account under a different name. Thanks for the support buddy.

You are welcome.
The good thing about having these verification methods is that the account is secured, it will not just be hacked.

Very true Jimmy, Security here isn't the issue.

Just a work-around-creative-thought. Is your old number in use? Have you tried to call your old number? And when it is in use, would that person be so kind to help you with the code? I would help.

That is wishful thinking Loes, but what the heck I will try. I really don't think the old number is in use though. The SIM card was give back to the old carrier and discarded.

I will try though, and who knows? Maybe.

Thank You Loes, this is just what I may need!!

Quite a delayed response:)) Have you been MIA:)?

Sorry first time I've seen your comment here, I totally missed it. Also haven't been on FB since, put it aside.

Hi Kuja,

Sorry to hear that. I hate those two steps identification process. Have you try forgot pw for your pw reset for yahoo? What about the 4seasonsdesign .com email? Do you have access to that email?

I really hope you got helped. If it's a fairly new account i would make a new one. Someone once told me to write your pw down so you can throw it away. :D

I use evernote. I put everything in there and lock it with a 4 digit code.

Thanks N, appreciate it. The issue is my account is old (2010) and I don't want to open a new one.I don't have access to the Yahoo 4seasonsdesign email either.

Good advice on Evernote, thank you....well noted!

you're not the first one---this is a tactic FB uses to get you to pay to advertise---happened to me several times

I never knew this and I have an Fb That was my first ever and I cannot for the life of me get back into it.

A few have told me this Davida.

Thanks so much again Davida:) I have a new YouTube channel where I'm producing great content.

If you have never set up the next stage where you can nominate certain people to acknowledge who you are. Then you are at a loss there too.

If you do not have the mobile number and you cannot access that FB account via your email then I am sorry. You have a major problem.

Also with email they will not ask you to pay they will give you other options to get you into your email account. To retrieve your Email Password.

Via another email account for instance. If not they will give you other options.

They will ask if you can give up your Most recent passwords that you may have used in the past.

They will also ask you if you can remember any Emails that you have sent in the past and Received.

This is for your Email not Facebook by the way. The next and only way you would be able to get into your Fb account via email.

The Email account will not ask you for money that is ridiculous.

I am sorry to say If you cannot get your hands on the old mobile chip you used and You cannot retrieve your email Password then you will not get back in Simple as.

By the way. Yahoo would not ask you to pay a fee. I should re check that again if I was you.

If I was you I would make sure that nobody else can access your code with your old phone number as well.
Regards Deborah

Thank you Deborah, do you know how I can assure that no one accesses my code with my old number?

I will try to follow some of the suggestions you made, Thank You again.

Once you sell your phone you have to make sure you destroy your chip completely.

Never even leave anything In your phone.

All data is possible to retrieve even with a broken phone especially Android. Not so much IPhone but they will if they must.

Personally any old phone I have stays with me and all chips I have are kept with me. Ruined by me and never left alone at all.

Thats why I'm not to much into phone verification settings.

Apart from that there isn't much more I could help you with.

I personally would go back to Yahoo and try again and run like heck if they ask you for money this just does not happen.

Regards Debs ;-)

Actually the site that asked for money was "Just Answers", I will keep trying Yahoo although it's hard to even find where to write for help, and whatever I've done so far has been circular.
Thanks for your help. I will keep trying.

Its a nightmare I know because it happened to me the same thing. Wishing you all the best Let me know the outcome;-)

Will do Debs. I lost patience for awhile, I've been on Instagram and haven't focused on getting it back.

Recently Loes actually found a tel # where you can speak to a live person from Facebook. So I'm reopening this, and will try this new tactic.

Will let you know how this pans out.

Sorry to hear you’re having troubles with logins.

Have you tried these steps yet?

m.facebook.com/help/132243923516844 ?helpref=faq_content

You may need to supply some documents, but there is a way when this happens. It wouldn’t be the first time, I’m sure!

...Gadz, the link won’t post. See that big gap between the 44 and the ? in the link I posted - remove it so it’s one long link. Sorry about that.

Yeah Ivy, I do believe if there is a will there is a way! I still believe, thanks for your support. Btw, I have already tried the method in your link, but unfortunately it is circular.

Also I have gotten as far as the next step where FB asked to take a selfie with the given code number written on a piece of paper, and then sending it to FB to prove that I'm the admin, but that ends up going circular.

I will keep trying to get through to Yahoo, that might be easier. Although they haven't been responsive either. Thanks!
