Me too! I got given a kindle for Christmas when they first came out and don’t mean to sound ungrateful but it went straight in my storage box and hasn’t been out since!
Just can’t beat the feel of reading a Proper book, and browsing the library to find new gems! :)

It's an incredible feeling Louise, I am all with you!!
Nothing like a REAL book, browsing the library, holding the book, smelling the pages, and turning them!

Good for you, keep the Kindle in storage!

Thanks so much again Louise:) I have a new You Tube channel where I'm producing great content.
Check out our great Tokyo story as well as my Efren Reyes match win video play by play:)

If you don't yet, I will happily return the favor when yours is up.:)

Books are just magical, and one of the things I love about being a parent is sharing the joy of books with my kids. I have ALWAYS said to my boys that they can have as many books as they like, and their bookcases are overflowing. They love reading as much as I do and that makes me feel so proud of them!
They turned turn 10 a few weeks ago and every night we still read a book together. I hope it gives them wonderful memories that they cherish forever :)

That's wonderful Mia, Thanks to you, your children live abundantly through real books ever-gaining knowledge and great memories.

This will last a lifetime, and you should feel very proud:)

There is nothing like engrossing yourself in the characters and events of a new story...and personally, it just doesn’t feel the same on a kindle or ereader...I like to turn the pages!

Yes, it is SO gratifying turning the pages, I am ALL with you E, Thank You!

Thanks so much again EAlbert:) I have a new You Tube channel where I'm producing great content.

Ohh Kaju- I can almost smell the books in the picture. So beautiful and I have a few old favourites and here in my town we have a second-hand bookstore filled with treasures and the old guy that runs it is so full of stories of the old days. Intriguing to listen to and I know you would love it
Thank you for taking me to Polish Brooklyn. Having never been to the States, this makes me want to add yet another place to my list of where to visit. You rock :)
Vicki

I already can hear and love the stories that come with that gentleman proprietor of that second-hand bookstore!

Glad you enjoy this micro-travelogue as well.
Thanks for sharing your delightful story, Vicki:)

I love books also and I miss the New York scene.

Thanks Statius, I do miss the old less gentrified New York too.

Yes the mom and pop places are getting harder to find but like u said when u find them it's pretty cool !

Yes, John you are right, progress is good and inevitable, but I feel we all lose something character-wise when old things vanish.

You have to go out of the big cities to find them now !

Very true, or in small enclaves of the big cities (such as Greenpoint)

Delightful blog post! ..... yes, love crisp new books, too -- less dust that way ...

Kaju, you speak of 'values' -- so where is that today, one might ask ... it's the thing called an 'inner compass' ... being self-propelling or self-directing ... there's so much 'bombardment' from external stimuli that most people can't hear themselves think today ...

Ah -- philosophically, can discuss for quite awhile here... perhaps for another day -- a good ol' fireside chat would be wonderful! ...

Keep well & thanks kindly for sharing, cheerio... :)

You are so right K (from K), there's is too much bombardment and "noise" in this online world (and offline too) - we need to take a few breaths, take a step back and think more, enjoy more....

Definitely great fodder for a future fireside chat that I look forward to, K!

Kaju

Yes, absolutely! ... with autumn coming in (Northern Hemisphere), a good ol' fashioned, comfy, cozy, fireside chat or chats -- we could have a running series going here! wadda u think of that -- u creative one! ... :)

I suggest you start a blog series here called "Fireside with K" (or something similar) and take it to new limits!

Nice! ... well did do a bit with studio tv productions -- rather waning in vogue though as the on-line streaming is pretty much taking things over from tele... a good cam-op. is worth their weight in gold (that's my opinion) ...

How about -- "Fireside Chats with K & K!" ... duo tango ... alternating interviews ... alternating interviewees ... flying whatevers!? ....
Ok K -- you're ON Camera! .... lol ... :o

Lol! That's your new baby, K!
I already have my hands full here -- but Thanks!!

That's true Kaju.
Book has its own unique way conveying information. And love to see there are still young generation who love books than other media.
That being said, you are not that old-fashioned Kaju :)

Joe

Haha! Thanks Joe!
I LOVE old-fashioned things, but you're right, I'm not so old-fashioned:)

Glad you are with me on those books!

Hey Kaju,
Thanks for your blog!!. I always enjoy going on outing with you!!! You tend to find some of the neatest places. I enjoy holding an actual book in my hand and being able to turn pages while I read.
I love the plaque you found!!! That is too clever!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Yeah, isn't it Elaine?!
That plague is just a pure joy!!
(reminds me of me too...lol!)

Thanks, glad you like old things(and places) like me:)

Kaju

The world needs more "old fashion people like you my friend"
All the best

Thank You Adel, I really appreciate that my friend:)
