Find Your Zen Space

After deep-thinking about an incident that happened with one of my players in the game last night to his reaction when I gave him a coach (advice), I later wrote this message to my pool team.

Soon I realized this lesson applies the same for us as internet marketers. Learning to “find your Zen space” is as essential as the air we breathe.

Control Your Emotions

Internet marketing success is as much an emotional game as it is a precision and tactical game. It is imperative that we see that critical, "take control of the game" play, or a game-winning maneuver in a timely manner to set us up for future success.

Others may see the most direct path to success in a given endeavor, but which we do not see. Conversely, you may not see what I see, but I see it. As a mentor with proven success and your good-intentions in mind, if I see that most direct path to help you succeed and win the game you should place your trust me.

Occasionally we may both see the same path, but this is often not the case. Since we both are not mind-readers, it makes no sense taking a chance by assuming knowledge and remaining in silence.

Therefore there is no such thing as asking for guidance too early in the process; sometimes the "early play" you execute from the advice of your mentor or team will be the difference between winning and losing, between your ultimate success or your failure. Don’t let your ego get in your way.

Control your emotions in the process and you will significantly raise your chances of winning the game.

Let It Go

Please don't get frustrated if a mentor or your team gives you advice which you do not agree with. Frustrating yourself over it is a waste of energy and is more detrimental then any advice.

Either way, everyone will have their own point of view. So there is really no sense getting worked up over it. Don’t argue with your mentor or your Team over disagreements, and if so don’t let those disagreements get in your head.

Let it go.

Take a deep breath, learn how to mentally refocus, and rethink your strategy.

Getting frustrated and being argumentative with others you do not agree with, whether it be your mentors or colleagues is not only counter-productive but it makes the Team look bad. And also gives fodder for the opposition to take cheap shots and make exaggerated claims against you and the Team. Avoid that.

Find Your Zen Space

We must all learn to find that "Zen" space where nothing will ever affect us. In other words, nothing distracts us, nothing phases us, and nothing gets under our skin. When you are in a calm state where you let nothing affect you, you are in the most effective winning state.

Ask any successful marketer, athlete, or money-player. It has been proven that when marketers and athletes learned to acquire that "Zen focus", they all greatly increased their success rate toward achieving optimal performance. Breathing is super important. So is taking extra time to breathe upon every move. Think about your next move. Then find the void.

Develop a systematic daily “pre-work” mental routine. This can be any simple mind-relaxing activity such as sitting in total silence, watching TV, or daily meditation.

Personally, I have found the benefits of meditation, deep breathing, and qigong to be a mental cleansing.

Meditation twice daily (morning and before bedtime) and in between those “next moves” is a great way to optimize your focus toward achieving optimal performance.

Believe me, it works. If you believe this is not true, you are only fooling yourself. This has been proven time and again in various case studies over a wide range of activities under the most stringent conditions.

Breathe, Breathe, Breathe!

So learn to "let it go", and if you aren't completely comfortable about your next move or are distracted even for a split second, get up and restart your pre-work mental routine.

Let all the "noise in your head" fade away, don’t let anything distract you and refocus on that next move.

Breathe, breathe, and breathe.

It definitely works.

Cheers,

Kaju

Air and Kaju rule! Great post, my friend. Thanks for sharing.

We all need fresh Air, Carol! Thanks my friend!!

Staying very much in the Zen now!

WooHoo!

I intend to stay there, C!

Indeed! Let the healing continue! BTW, how are you feeling? How's the bradycardia and your hand?

Bradycardia is much less frequent, and the hand is a slow but albeit steady improvement. Thanks for asking Carol:)!

So happy to hear that, Kaju. I knew things were improving from your recent posts and our conversations, just checking to see if there has been any new minimiracles!

Thanks for checking in on me, C

you're certainly welcome, dear friend.

:):)

Grins.

Nice!

You're welcome!

Truly!!

It's another day:)

Yep. Another day snowed in! Had 12 inches from Diego last weekend.

Wow, didn't see that comin'!

Was a HUGE storm. Weather Channel said it covered 5 states. Guess it didn't get that far north, though. I have dug my car out, but haven't gone anywhere yet. No real need to. It's gorgeous today in the 50s, so a lot of this stuff will disappear today, hopefully.

Glad there was no need to go very far!

Me, too. If I was still on the mountain, I would have been snowed in for a couple weeks probably. Was snowed in for 10 days once when we got 18 inches, and they probably got 24 from this storm. Haven't talked to any of my former neighbors. Called to check on them, and got no answer. They probably lost power and went to stay in town before it go really bad. I used to keep clothes in the car and stay in a motel in town instead of going home if it started snowing while I was at work.

See, you are now benefiting from "city" life everyday, more than you may have even expected Carol!

True.

That's good, and that'll keep you more active!

Also true. Leia keeps me hopping!

How's Leila? She's getting up there, isn't she?

Everytime I click on this post, it takes 15 seconds to load!

She's very neurotic and shy, but is getting better. She's about 3. I rescued her when she was about a year and a half. She was terrified of men and anyone in hats when I got her. I think she had been abused. She's still afraid of canes, broom, and snow shovels. Poor baby. I tell her she's named after a princess (Leia), but should have been named Chicken instead!

Yes, I can a cat that is similar, whose name is actually "Princess Whitefoot" or "Princess" for short. She is spooked:)!

Our pets enrich our lives, but can be a pain in the butt sometimes! Like right now...Leia wants me to take her out. Guess I'd better do it. Don't want a mess in the house to clean up!

Does she run and hide when strangers come to the door? I catsat for a friend and didn't see the cat the whole time she was gone.

Yeah, better do it. Wise words:)

Yeah, she hides frequently...even when I come to the door!

Should I say "poor Princess" or "poor Kaju"?

Poor US!!

Yeah, and poor C and L last weekend when we got 16 inches of snow! It's mostly gone now except for dirty patches here and there where it has been plowed into a wall!

Yes Poor "snowed-IN" YOU!

Poor me's better now. Most of it's gone except for the piles in parking lots. We might be getting more this weekend, though. I'm ready for spring!

You are well seasoned for these events Carol. Nothing can keep you dead in your tracks!

So true. We've just had rain for the last 2 or 3 days. Pretty ugly weather to be out and about. Spent most of the weekend in bed with a sinus infection, but feeling better tonight. Doubt if I will be able to sing tomorrow night at the Christmas Eve program I'm supposed to be singing in, but will sit with my guests and enjoy the program instead. I'm still very hoarse, but at least I'm not sneezing and coughing now.

I know what that's like Carol, very frustrating!
I once got strep throat before an important karaoke audition, and it was not pretty!

Ooh ouch! I've had that, no fun at all. Was that the audition you wrote the post about several months ago?

Well, I wrote a post about it but never elaborated in the post.
Due to my strep throat I didn't make the audition, but persevered and made it a different way!

I like the part about being able to take criticism or advice without being sensitive. Emotions can get in the way of learning, because most of us can always learn more.
Thanks,
Marcus

So, so important Marcus. You cannot learn if you do not listen. And you cannot listen if your own ego is drowning the information out:)

Thanks, you are right there is no limit to learning if we have the proper attitude to allow ourselves.

Thanks so much again Marcus:) I have a new You Tube channel where I'm producing great content.

If you don't yet, I will happily return the favor when yours is up.:)

Back again, my friend, to raise a cup in appreciation for the core value of your post...beneficial mental positioning. A Z' Journey

A.) If one ever struggles for a "winning" edge in competition
B.) If one crashes due to emotional highs and lows
C.) If we are ever to gain freedom from an insatiable "ego".

For where does developing competitive aptitude begin and end, but by what we have rehearsed in our mind and body far removed from the day...We Play!

And as this relates to team performance... My goodness, the dynamic just complicated itself, 10-fold!

So I love this post and would add only that it may be beneficial to gather your group for what could be a discussion/demonstration
toward keying in on some of your current awareness and routine through dedicated team practice.

If everyone came on board imagine how incredible Las Vegas might become.

Brilliant stuff, Kaju, for all our pursuits.

Respectfully, David R.

Thank You David, having led and captained teams for 24 seasons can tell you teams are a huge challenge. And I can also tell you, it is often impossible to get everyone together for key practice sessions, regardless how important the next match may be.

But they are a great group of people nonetheless, just a busy bunch. So instead, I will break practice sessions up into 3 parts, with 1/3 of the team attending different sessions. The discussion/ demonstration is in the form of Q & A problems that require strategic solutions where I send pictorial table diagrams and I ask them to provide their answer for. Then we review those same real-life game situation quagmires and discuss the counter-strategies to solve them with the group during practice at the table. I then demonstrate the correct shots and strategies to take at the table, offensive or defensive, to counteract the dilemma and win the game.

Then I send out and write the occasional motivational post (like this one) to share with them. They all contacted me today and voiced their appreciation for this article.

However, all of this instruction is meaningless without the proper attitude. The Zen aspect of your mental game is critical in order to succeed and WIN the real big matches.

All of the above applies to how we operate as internet marketers.

Have a Great week, and thanks for coming bu for a great comment!

Yes, we all need to breathe and refocus our minds and look for that happy place that we can go to and refocus our minds.

Yes, I do yoga and breathing but right now with everything going on I haven't done it.

I was also doing Tai Chi but I had to stop that as well for the time being. I will pick them both up again when I can.

I am not familiar with qigong though I don't know what that is.

Mary

Tai Chi and Qigong are very similar Mary. I wrote an article about the specific differences, here it is: Keep getting better Mary, no rush. They will still be there. You will definitely get back to them when the time is right, my dear friend:)

A great share Kaju.

Derek

Glad yo enjoyed this article. Thanks Derek!

I am happy you shared this today. I really enjoyed reading it. Cheers

Thanks Happy, I'm glad you enjoyed my article:)

Cheers,
Kaju

Thanks for this my friend and I enjoyed your note to your team. It is so true, there is no use throwing the toys out the pram when you are not happy with what someone says to you. They are only acting in your best interests and when you think back over what was said you can realise that the advice you got was beneficial in the long run.

As you know my meditation every day is my colouring app. Does wonders at clearing your mind of other things. xxxx

I sent this article to the same person who was "crying like a toddler" when I gave him advice (coach) he didn't want to hear yesterday, now today is thanking me for my encouragement! (Would you believe it!)

"...toys out the pram"....another Scottish slang no doubt, Love It! You keep coming up with the Hits!!

Keep at that coloring app C!

Coloring apps per day keeps the Manx Pirate away!

Just exactly the point I was making. In the cold light of day when he went away and thought about what you had told him, he realised you were right and you were only trying to help him not criticise him.

I can't believe you have never heard that one before lol. I love that saying for an adult who is throwing a strop because they are not getting their own way or don't like what has been said to him. These are just everyday things we say as well lol.

I most certainly will do. Especially if it helps keep the Manx Pirate at bay. Maybe I should introduce him to the app, might keep his mind busy so he's not day dreaming about snookering lol. xxx

YES, that's a good one on Manx! Introduce him to the app, that will keep him distracted!

Yes C, I like t"the cold light of day" , also perhaps because he sobered up in it!

That "dark" is very foreboding indeed!!

Well I am afraid to say that I am not scared of the dark at all so it wouldn't scare me at all. xxx

We have a hot battle hear Ladies and Gents!
Neither a dark foggy night nor Mirrors can scare or easily goad Max C into the side pocket!

Ah yes, remember to BREATHE.
Jerry

...for the alternative is mind-numbing!

I've tried the alternative for over three minutes and nearly blacked out! (lol!)

A vital function of life, no doubt!

Ah, yes, learning to let it go -- an important skill to develop.

Indeed Fran:)

Ending up breathing. Does that make air rule the elementals!

Yes Mike, I say air rules!

Your 2000 meter counter profile has been saved on my Wall of Fame:))
Congrats on an Unbelievable Achievement, Mike:)!

Thank you, Kaju my friend. I posted one more just now Have to winf=d the momentum down!

No one deserves that rest more!
