Digging a Niche for Taiwan

What happens when you mix Taiwanese deity Dance Theater with Sunday afternoon baseball?

Well, you get a rollicking good time at Taiwan Day with the Mets at Citi field with amazing multi-colored deity costumes, a Taiwanese rock band playing erhus and a pei pas- and ”Coffee, the Comic Panhandling Trick Dog”!

After all, we don't dig ditches - we dig niches!

We were invited on Sunday afternoon to another FREE very special New York Mets baseball game preceded by Taiwan Day - a special Taiwanese American pageant event, where we were asked to partake in the pre-game colorful festivities hosted by the Taiwanese American Foundation, where my partner Felicia Lin was asked to write an article about the event.

She and I were invited by Cooperatize, a successful startup social media company that specializes in matching up special unique brands with micro influencers.

Their model is to comp the influencer to an event, and expose them to their clients which are new brands, so the micro influencer can blog and talk about their brand on social media.

In the case of Felicia, in addition to writing about them in her blog she will likely invite them as a guest on her podcast called "Talking Taiwan" with a story on the brand TBD for a later date.

As for myself, that’s right you guessed it! I'm here to catch some new exciting niches!

So here are some great new ones I dug up here:

Taiwanese American pageant

Taiwan Heart Asia

Searches = 56. Traffic = 10 QSR = 28

By the way, the Mets were losing 6-1 by the bottom of the 7th inning, but who cared! It was an absolutely gorgeous day near the old Shea!

Prior to the start of the game, there was a wonderful Taiwanese rock band who incorporated traditional Chinese folk stringed instruments such as the erhu and the pei pa into their exotic and powerful performance.

It has always been part of Taiwan’s folk culture for deities to go on a walk-about to protect local residents. The next lively act did that and so much more.

A Taiwanese religious folk icon, the Third Prince, has become a trailblazing figure in promoting the nation internationally. The Third Prince successfully combines Taiwanese temple culture and techno music, so it is both traditional and modern.

The Taoist deity has in recent years provided exuberant entertainment at cultural events in Taiwan and overseas with its playful and rebellious spirit, and has been modernized to be called the “Techno-Dancing Third Prince”.

Above all, the highlight of the day was my late and unexpected introduction to "Coffee", the panhandling New York Mets canine who was a most gracious and helpful host.

Since he and I hit it off so well, he told me only since he “liked me”, he would be more than happy to share with me his best personal niche tips.

Well let me tell you, this panhandling canine truly honored me as he "panted" out his own personal favorites:

Mets Dog Collars

Dog lover Coffee mugs

As Coffee the Panhandling New York Mets Dog said in his typical cool demeanor, "Thank you for the picture, but don't forget, I don't like cheap people!"

So I replied, "Here's a five spot. Nice doing business with you, Mr. Coffee!"

With great glee, he nodded his wooden pipe in pleased approval, and shook my hand with his stylishly painted paw nails!

Thanks for sharing my wonderful baseball Sunday on Taiwan Day.

I will be more than happy to field any of your comments.

Cheers,

Kaju

Nope, ever since he fell from the ambassador ranks, Paul is now making more sales than ever! He is forever lost, Jimmy!!

He will come again in his own time.
