I wonder if Bruce Lee used some of his martial arts skills in constructive diplomacy for kids in conflict resolution Kaju!?

That's an interesting thought I suppose we will never know:)

Great cause, great blog. Things are alot different nowadays from when I was in school. Bruce Lee and Jack Lalanne WERE my idols growing up. I got my black belt in 10th grade(never had to worry about bullies) and eventually became a Personal Trainer and Nutritionist.

I LOVED Jack Lalanne. Remember he had that tv show with his Great Pyrenees Mountain dog. My mother and I used to do his exercises. He was a monumental fitness guru! Inspired so many of us!

Happy, Smiley, and Walter. Remember he had the white shepherds. He was like my first hero. I am going to do a blog over the weekend about our idols growing up and how they influenced us. I became a Personal Trainer because of him. I raised shepherds also. Justin Wilson, the Louisiana Chef got me interested in food(now I am a certified foodie) and Bruce Lee had me getting my first black belt while just a teenager.

Oh, you are right, they were white Shepherds! I didn't recall their names.
Looking forward to your blog. He really influenced me as well to get into the fitness industry!

I was only a kid but I remember both in the late 60's and 70's: Bruce Lee in his awesome movies, and Jack Lalanne's TV fitness show. BOTH ahead of their time.

Happy that this blog has struck a chord with you Mark, it has with many:)

I loved his pushups he would do on two chairs side-by-side!
Jack was way ahead of his time!

Tremendous inspiration, can't wait to read your blog Mark!

You should write a blog too!
Fascinating, I will be the first one to read it:))

Hey Kaju,
This is a great blog. What a great idea!! I'm always in favor of helping out great causes like this. I'm glad you made us aware of this!!

Kaju !, boy you brought back a lot of memories BRUCE LEE or little Dragon !
I think I was 20 yr s old in a few more days that will be 48 yrs ago , wow where does the time go ?
I was taking goji ri karate at the time just south of Vancouver in a little suburb near the water called Stevenson.
At one time it was a very big Japanese village and they built this beautiful dojo .
Then the news came while we were practising BRUCE LEE DIED ! No cant be not our Bruce Lee ! You could have heard a pin drop , we had a moment of silence , it was like when the music died , Buddy Holly , the big bopper and Richie Vslens.
He was gone no more cool movies with his amazing athletics.
The man with the one inch punch and the 400 th if a second punch , yes that's fast and now it was gone it still makes me sad how much he could have contributed to the martial arts scene.
I gave visited he grave many times along with his son overlooking lake Washington in Seattle and next to the Seattle space needle Bruce Lee's grave us te second most visited site in Seattle , quite amazing !
This powerful man and his biggest fear was growing old !
Sometimes they say be careful what you fear it might come true .
I have all his movies read a lot of his books , specially the one his wife wrote and he didn't hurt his back fighting some Chinese guy .
Thanks for bringing that all back but it still makes me sad what a loss.

I remember going to Seattle and my friends wanting to go up in the Space Needle. I said go for it. I am going to see Bruce Lee's grave. What a great man, what a shame we lost him so soon.

Yes at one time there were a few names that stood out in the world Bruce Lee, Mohammed Ali and Arnold Schwarzenegger these names where talked about more than any others.

I may have missed one maybe Sylvester Stallone, also .

Some people just leave an impression that is unforgettable.
Lucky for me I was able to get autographs from Stallone and Ali !
I think I would have passed out if I ever met Bruce Lee .

He was like a living super hero with some of his amazing martial arts, well ahead of his time .
I don't think we will see someone like him again in my lifetime !
The funny or weird thing about Bruce Lee's grave is his son Brandon's grave stone.

If you look at it from a certain angle you can see the head of a crow , ge made the movie of the crow I don't know if it was planned like that or a fluke or ghost or what , I should google it .

Wow, that freaked me out John! The head of a crow on Brandon's gravestone, well it may have been planned because some believe he was executed during "The Crow" (this conspiracy theory theory is controversial, but I have heard it).

But that notion still gives me chills.

You are one lucky man to have Muhammad Ali and Stallone's autographs, anyone who has Bruce Lee's is MADE.

Thanks for sharing your awesome experiences.

Thanks for taking us down "memory lane" John with your experiences and memories of Bruce Lee, you're right be careful what you fear it might come true, an for Bruce Lee this became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

This only makes me want to research into Bruce Lee's life more.

Two amazing human beings Mark, definitely extremely sad. You were right to go to BL's grave to honor The Man.

Yes , steven Segal has a rant on utube about Brandon Lee's death .
What I read the gun wasn't even supposed to be pointed at him they were going to use trick photography to make it look right , steven brings that up on utube I believe , too sad

I have met Steven several times thru mutual friends. He is not the ass many make him out to be. Very talented musician as well.

I got Ali's on the back of my Commerical Appeal ID badge(the local paper in Memphis). Met him when he stopped by and shook his hand. His fist was as big as both of my hands.

Wow steven segal that would have been cool.
I got Ali' s autograph on a fight card when just got out of jail in the early 70's he was fighting a couple of guys an exhibition fight.
He was a big man he seemed to give off a aura so I had to touch him then he stopped writing and looked at me .

Stallone's I got when i was lucky to get a part as an extra in Rocky 4 , he doesn't let people near him now.
Dold lungren was nice I got his , that's a big man 6, 5 and 240 lbs at the time, 8 days of filming was quite an experience to watch but sly got I think 12 million and I got $450.00 that always makes me laugh but I didn't do it for the money , I was a Russian soldier a sharpshooter for 8 days and they fed us fried chicken .but after 2 days I had to bring my own food.

Filmed right In Vancouver , the whole fight.

Lot of conspiracy theories surrounding his death. Check some out on YouTube.

It makes you wonder even more, sadly....

I didn't know Steven was a talented musician, but I can certainly see that. Thanks.

Wow, amazing!! Would have loved to see Ali's fist in person:)

Yep, lots indeed:)

That's "Rocky 4" was a fantastic experience, fried chicken and all!, John!
If I rent the movie on Netflicks, tell me which character is you?

Hey all us soldiers and some police about a dozen of us all went to the movie together and only a few of us saw themselves sadly I only saw a shadow of myself behind a wire fence just before Dolf Lungren went out to the ring but I got his autograph and spoke with him he was very nice and humble one of his first big roles.
His girlfriend in the audience Grace Jones a black girl who played in a James bond movie with Roger Moore was also there, she helped him get into the movies, he was a bouncer before that and he's a big guy 6ft 5 and 240 lbs.
Would not want to owe him money ha ha .

It was quite the experience to see close up how a movie was made, that Stallone is quite a smart guy he knows how to make a movie .he was quite hands on with the filming getting everything right so many takes as many as a dozen for one scene .

Leroy Neiman the artist who painted the final fight scene where Stallone knocks down lungren or Drago in the movie was there and having worked in an art shop as a teenager and almost becoming a commercial artist it was really neat to be able to talk to him in person, he just died a few years ago I found out when I was in Frisco they had a show of his paintings on display and I got to see them.

Didn't Arnold get Grace Jones starting in acting in the Conan movies? I think she was in the second one, Conan the Destroyer.

Yes she was in that movie when I saw her at the rocky 4 movie set in Vancouver she had a long black outfit with a hoodie quite close to ringside.
When she left she put down the can of pop she was drinking and left and one extra grabbed it and started yelling I got grace Jones can of pop , seriously , too funny how is he going to prove that ? Too funny.
On the Leno show she said she also dated Dolfs twin brother , so Leno being Leno had to ask well, so who is better and she smiled and said well Dolf of course, why do you think iam wirh him.

A little bit of funny history.

Thank for the "inside" on the movie business, John! I knew that Stallone was a perfectionist:)

I believe you are right, that 1980 movie was the first time I'd seen Grace Jones in a movie. It would make sense that Arnold got her in.

This "inside" is fascinating priceless stuff. People were fanatical back then about their favorite celebrities, as demonstrated by that "can of pop" story.

Thanks for sharing John!

A couple of funny things when Dolf or Drago walked into the stadium there was two guys in track suits with torches giving off a lot of smoke , I know cause I was right next to these guys as a soldier holding a rifle .
They walked in on either side of Dolf and then there was fireworks !
Well, the fireworks went off near the back of the building near the ceiling and caught some cloth or part of the props on fire and wouldn't go out !
It was touch and go for about 10 minutes they could not put the fire out , they almost evacuated the building.

Then Stallone would walk around looking thru a camera lens like a monocle to see how the camera sees everything I guess.

So Stallone is trying to get the musicians sitting in the right way in the seats as it's an orchestra,
so he looks at this young man holding a french horn and says hey you with the tuba in the sly Stallone voice they called him sly on the set.

The young man looks behind him and doesn't see anyone with a tuba and says to sly you mean me ?
Sly says ya you with the tuba and the young man says this is a french horn !
Well , Sly spins around and laughs and now a lot of us are laughing and Sly feels like a fool and hey what do I know about music , ya you with the french horn move down one row of seating, quite funny.

I wanted to say something about bullying , what your doing is really important.

I was bullied in grade 7 and that guy when he graduated from high school shot a guy dead and somehow only got 5 yrs in jail,? That's Canada ?

That was grade 7 math the only subject I ever failed ! It was pretty hard to do math when the meànist guy in school is sitting right next to you sticking pins into you and one of his henchman is on the other side of you punching you in the shoulder for jumping up after getting stuck with a pin .
Then the teacher is saying us there someting wrong john sit down and if you tell him , well they will beat the tar out of you !
So if there is anyway I can help promote your cause let me know. No kid should have to go thru bullying !

Well the good thing he died about 10 yrs ago so he won't bother anyone anymore.

He was ruthless , he actually got to like me after a while and never picked on me for some reason .
So we have to stop it when it happens the teachers should be able to report this kids and have them sent somewhere to be rehabilitated.
They say 95% of people in jail have been abused, so I dont know what happened to Mel but te was violent and strong for a short stocky kid.

If you beat a dog he will be mean so I think we need to train or give them love to show them it's better than hate.
Like making money the honest way is better than the dishonest way .
The wa way is a good representation of making money the honest way.

Have a great day !

That's terrible what you had to go through in Grade 7 John. I'm really sorry! Yes, it happened to me on occasion too in Grade school, except no pins.

Yes, I believe love begets love, and hate begets hate. So i you want to rehabilitate someone, it has to be done as early as possible.

Thanks for the priceless Stallone stories, and your Great Supoort on this highly important topic!

Kaju

You can extend that program and include that here in WA, sometimes I got the feeling it is a Kindergarten here...

Bullying happens everywhere and it starts in our youth then it goes all way up and you see this also happening under grown ups.

Are these our prehistoric instincts that makes us humans still vulnerable to build a harmonious civilization traveling the stars one day?

Great job Kaju!
Stefan, ToLiNoLi

Thoughts like the kindergartening of WA are a no no Stefan!!

ROFLMAO :))

Hey Kaju, if you already remove replies of me (I commented on Mike on the top of your post), please remove this one too and let me know if you prefer I leave my replies out of your blogs.

There was nothing in that reply that would have offend anyone, so I am a bit surprised your removed it.

I have never removed ANY of your replies (or anyone else's), ever Stefan, I DON'T know what you are talking about. That is not my style.

It is a damn shame that these prehistoric instincts still can exist in us as humans Stefan, and unfortunately new technologies magnify it. I agree we need to find a better way.

Thanks for your insightful comment, Stefan:)!

Kaju, I couldn't think of a better event for you to get invited to.

It is awesome when celebrities raise money especially with technology at or children's fingertips.

Adults have a harder time keeping up with all the apps that our youth have access to.

Bullying is something witnessed 24/7. Our schools try to keto up with it, but they also need the assistance of our youth and parents.

Parents need to stop letting their children have unsupervised internet access and social media.

They need to go through their phones constantly.

I took my daughter's cell phone because of what others were sending her and I have the support of her school. She will not get a cell phone until she starts driving. Even then it will be a flip phone.

Bottom line is, we need to do more other than complain and blame others. We need to take action.

On a better note, you are such a great person and I am sure that you had a blast at this event.

Your getting invited, just goes to show how wonderful you truly are.

The painting is awesome. Not to much on tequila though.

Thank you for sharing your night with us.

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

These are dangerous times for our kids Lee Ann. I agree with you, "Parents need to stop letting their children have unsupervised internet access and social media".

We need to take affirmative action on these issues rather than only talk about it, and this is my way of contributing.

Thank You for your kind words and for being a great person, and sharing your important thoughts on the cyber bullying matter.

There are many things to fix in this world. As the technology advances, people the more is hard to teach values.

Sadly this is very true Jimmy, and this is a double-edged sword. Parents need to teach their kids values, but its not the parents fault all the time.

I believe in the proverbial statement, "Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life." (Proverbs 22:6) which is said in modern words, "Bend the tree while still young".

Though not true to all, most parents forget to give quality time to their children so the environs can easily sway them when they are outside their homes.

Very true, Jimmy:)

Still doing the world a service after all these years. Amazing. He was a very impressive person, and his story still inspires. At least what I have been able to piece together of the trials and very hard situations that he had to overcome in life.
Not only the martial arts community but the physical mountains he had to climb. I am still amazed at him every time I stop and think about the life of Bruce Lee.

Thank you, Kaju, for sharing this inspiring post.

Yes Bruce Lee was a Truly Amazing Person with an equally Amazing Life. He is the perfect person to symbolize how we need to eradicate cyber bullying.

He had to climb many physical mountains as you say. Let's go back and watch his classic movies, read his stories, and be inspired by The Man:)!

Thanks for your most inspiring comment, Frank and Tina:)

Kaju

Ok, what time and should I bring the popcorn?

Definitely bring the popcorn, it's "Bruce Lee Cinema" all day long 24/7 here:)!

Very cool. I officially jealous. You have a great day today and enjoy those inspiring films. Peace out. 👍🏼

You enjoy those great flicks too!

This is great! Impressive data. A reminder that we should raise our kids with love and respect for others.

Absolutely Victor! Love ans RESPECT is the key, and we need to bolster their own self-esteem.

And let's work toward stopping the cyber bullying:)

Best,
Kaju
