When I first posted “Bora Bora Dream, Part 1”, at the end of the article I wrote that I would be posting the follow up “Bora Bora Dream, Part 2” yesterday on June 1.

Yesterday I was unexpectedly swamped making response comments to WA members congratulating me for becoming an ambassador on my “90 Day” thank you post. Therefore I apologize to my readers for not being able to post “Bora Bora Part 2” out on time as promised.

However, in between we would make one other stop where we visited another one of the truly magical Society Islands holding a vastly different topography and unique flavor, a distinctive beauty all its own.

As a result, I have now decided to post this full article in 3-parts, with the finale “Bora Bora Dream, Finale Part 3” coming out tomorrow.

And to show my appreciation, for those who read this full entire article, as a bonus there is a GIFT waiting for you at the end of the finale article.

Well, one day late here is the 2nd of 3 parts,

"Bora Bora Dream, Part 2." .

I certainly hope you all will enjoy it!

The Beautiful island of Moorea

Upon leaving our relaxing 2 full day sojourn from our lovely feminine island of Huahine, we boarded our Air Tahiti for a 30 minute flight returning to our main international hub, Fa'a'ā International Airport on the island of Tahiti outside of Papeete for a brief layover.

There were gorgeous aerial views from up above on the return trip back to the main island, of the lush greenery of the Society Island Mountains and the amazing turquoise lagoons surrounding them. The midday sun reflected bursts of light off its surface, producing a magnificent shimmering effect.

Upon our small Cessna plane landing in Tahiti, we disembarked from the plane and shortly after exited the airport and hailed a brief taxi ride to Papeete to experience and enjoy a its unique scene during our brief 2 ½ hour layover. We dined on delicious local Polynesian food for lunch at a small food stall in town.

Shortly we would be taking another short taxi ride back, where we would be taking an 1 ½ hour ferry ride across the (strait separating Moorea) aboard the Aremiti Ferry to our second stay, the beautiful island of Moorea.

The 19 kilometer trip across the channel from Tahiti to Moorea was quite breezy and very enjoyable. As our ferry swiftly approached Moorea, seeing those big green mountains rise up out of the ocean and sliding into Viare harbor was a majestic sight!

Moorea: A Geographical Marvel

Moorea is a geographical marvel. Surrounded by the bright blue lagoon, the volcanically formed island was rated as the third best island n the world by Cone Naste, which is very fitting as Moorea is the top honeymoon destination in French Polynesia next to Bora Bora.

The magical island is roughly heart-shaped from an overhead view in the theme of love and romance. Eight voluminous mountain peaks rise from a translucent lagoon, creating a distinctive and rugged silhouette visible from the western coast of Tahiti.

Turquoise waters shine brightly against the island's emerald green cliffs that stand boldly above the gorgeous lagoon. Every single photo of this place looks as though it's undergone heavy photo shopping.

Believed to have inspired the mythical Bali Hai from James Michener's Tales of the South Pacific, Moorea is one of the most scenically striking islands in French Polynesia. Despite her immaculate beauty, she is far from unapproachable. Possessing a relaxed vibe and welcoming spirit, Moorea is just as warm and inviting as the Tahitians lucky enough to call this island home.

Splitting the northern shore are two symmetrical bays: Cook's and Opunohu Bay.

While staying in Moorea, for 4 days we rented a lovely 2 bedroom residence with its own private beach on the shore of Opunohu Bay fittingly called “The Robinson Caruso.”

We picked up our rental vehicle at the ferry terminal (which came with the house, what a deal!) and drove along the one main road encircling the island to our remote and secluded destination.

Later that week, we hiked up Belvedere Lookout, where you can see the sacred Mount Rotui, “Bali Hai”, Cook’s Bay, and Opunohu Bay all converging into this lush green scenic wonderland.

Moorea is a magical volcanic island, and this was a wonderful second part of the trip.

However, this cannot compare with anything of what is about to come in the final leg of the trip " Bora Bora Part 3 Finale.."

Stay tuned for the finale! Please drop a comment if you like.

Cheers,

Kaju

Cool indeed! I definitely need to go back, Moorea was amazing. Mountains, volcanoes, and gorgeous turquoise water.

But as beautiful as Moorea is, this article was only a "bridge"

You are gonna absolutely love Part 3, Gerlinde. The best.

Looking forward to it! :))

I'm dreaming again, Kaju!! By the way, Moorea is the island where my daughter will get married. I have rented one house for a few days before the wedding and then a beautiful place on the water with a big house and then 10 little one bedroom huts all on the same lot for four days and three nights. I ma getting excited seeing these pictures. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Wayne

Can't get better than that! You must be really "itching" to go now, how can you stand it?

You are going to have the singe GREATEST experience in your life, my friend in October. Purely unforgettable. .

Thank you for adding a destination to my places to experience! Great job. I have to back to read Bora Bora Dream, Part 1.

DKeller, I greatly appreciate you reading about my excursions and adventures. I hope it inspires you and others to see other parts of the world.

Beautiful pictures!

True Kasage, thanks
Beautiful does not even begin to express its "beauty"

This still pales to the "beauty" in Part 3. Stay tuned its coming. .

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally Rebecca ! Mountains, volcanoes, lush greenery here.

Moorea is so vastly different from Huanhine, and Tahiti (which is only 12 miles away), even though they are on the same Society Island chain.

The terrain when viewed is absolutely mesmerizing.

So Beautiful!!!

Yes it was, thank you so much!
