A Good Niche, Rats!

For the second season in a row, last week we were invited to the re-showing of "The Grey Suit"

When shock value falters, you better "dig a hole" or find a new niche! Better yet, never give up and figure out the best way to get rid of rats!

For of all things to write and compose about, here was a unique rock opera about rats, but it didn't have the shock value nor the human element the writer clearly was intending to convey.

And I'm not talking about the cute, cuddly, and furry kind you buy from the pet store called hamsters or gerbils - I'm referring to the feral subterranean vermin that live off your garbage on the streets and down in the subway.

The ones that make us contemplate getting rid of rats outside.

This was an Off Broadway rock opera called "The Grey Suit" by a new agent we met last year at Cutting Room. He was the musical director of this play and the opera composer also doubled as one of the actors in the play. It wasn't until 15 minutes into the actual performance before I realized what this play was about: actors portraying rats trying to find a new home and avoiding extermination.

The short of it: a family of 7 rodents portraying the main characters are rejoined by their prodigal "son" who has returned from a long journey from a temple with his new friend a lab rat, and upon describing such a utopian place where there is a never-ending abundance of food, wants to take the whole family back to the temple to live happily ever after.

Except the lab rat was an imposter who was in cahoots with the exterminators, and who eventually plots to lead the family into a trap, and succeeds in having the entire family including prodigal son gassed at the end.

Honestly, the music had some cool moments and I could appreciate the amount of work in the one hour long production, but the concept did not work for me as I found it really difficult to have empathy for these rats, particularly the subterranean subway dwelling kind.

Clearly the playwright was attempting to humanize feral rats, but it didn't seem to work very well here judging by the audience reaction, who applauded the music but seemed confused.

Still, this play had its highly redeeming values. Never expected this, but I did some real digging with my WA keyword tool and found 2 AMAZING long-tail keywords to use for this new and surprising GREAT niche.

Getting Rid Rats Outside

Searches = 103; Traffic = 18 QSR = 0 (Amazing!!)

Best way get rid rats

Searches = 659; Traffic = 113 QSR = 11 (Absolutely Amazing!!)

Notice how unbelievable these stats are – and how I used BOTH amazing long-tail keywords within my first few paragraphs here – and repeated them here again.

I would expect that this article will rank well.

But if it doesn’t, oh well…rats!!

However unlike digging into the dark world of unsympathetic subterranean creatures, when using the excellent free keyword tool provided by Wealthy Affiliate for digging up new and surprising GREAT niches, you are surely bound to receive some very welcome and pleasant surprises!

Rats......that was nice!

Rats, why Thank You Happy!!

Kaju, your mind is always trying to spot good keywords, it almost seems to be something automatic. So why don't you have a niche about niches and keywords?
I'm really suprised there aren't more posts on those rat keywords.

Yep true Sammy, I believe people are just afraid to write about "rats"; let's face it, "Rats" are not the most endearing subject for many, however this post was not only about great keywords, but about a play where actors portrayed "rats"!

Yes, sure it was, and although it didn't seem to be very enjoyable, it must have been quite inspiring triggering some great keyword ideas, Kaju.

Indeed, and it was interesting nonetheless:)

Wow, you are good. Who could have anticipated such a captivating article on ‘Best way to get rid of rats’!

Thanks, Kaju. Let me start some digging.

Thanks for sharing, Kaju.

Always a pleasure, Rog!

Rats can carry a lot of disease, as we know. Don't want street rats invading your home.

But check them out as pets (bred in captivity). We have had three. One albino and two hairless. You can't imagine how clean they are and extremely intelligent and affectionate. They knew their names and would look for us when we called them.
So, just can't hate rats. Just sayin'.

I don't hate Rats at all, C&P, I like 'em! The ones bred in captivity as you know are clean, intelligent, and affectionate, as you say.

Now the play "The Grey Suit" is another matter entirely!

It's crazy how peoples hate rats.

Cockroach, flies, mosquitos, and rats are the most annoying animal or bugs you can find in a home.

They're disgusting and repulsive, they contaminate your foods.

However, I really like them in some movies:

Joe's apartment, seeing all these cockroach singing in a band is absolutely hilarious.

Ratatouille, of course, one of the best Pixar movie.

The Frank Sinatra style singing rat in Sing is a must see, I don't know why this movie gets average reviews, it was absolutely hilarious and touching.

Looks like you're very obsessed by your work, this a habit I should learn to have.

Oh, what about the 1972 movie "Willard"! Ouchhh!!
Yeah, but I do like the "Ratatouille" and the FRank Sinatra references, Cal!

I haven't seen that one, will take a look.

Thanks Kaju.

It's a classic B-Movie!

I would not have thought such inspiration could come from the subject of rats.

Incredible stuff, Kaju.

I must keep tuned in! :)

There is a great deal of inspiration that can be derived from the most unsuspecting of subjects Valerie!

Are you auditioning for a production of Ratatouille now!?

Yes, I very well might be, Mike!

A good cat is going to be your competition. Rats!

That's right Bill!

Cats do have their benefits of having them around your house

Yes they do, I love my cat!!
