A Happy WA 4th of July!
For those who live in the U.S. and who celebrate Independence Day, I am wishing all of my friends a Happy 4th of July!
Hoping this wonderful 4th of July will be bring good weather, be savory, sweet, and filled with grillin' and chillin' for you.
Lest we never forget the wonderful freedoms our great forefathers paved the way for us by the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
You may be surprised to know that this is not the only noteable event that has occurred on the 4th of July in the history of America:
- There were three former United States presidents who died on July 4. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died in 1826 and President James Monroe in 1831.
- On July 4, 1802, The United States Military Academy, commonly known as West Point, opened its doors for the first time.
- The state of New York abolished slavery on July 4, 1827.
- Our Patriotic song “America the Beautiful” first published by Katherine Lee Bates occurred on July 4, 1895.
While there may be more, I hope you all are getting ready to be "firin' up the grill!"

Hope my PFSRAYC is doing something good today to celebrate this day that you got your independence from us Brits lol. Now imagine wanting to be separated from such a great lot.
I always think on Hamilton now when it gets to the 4th July but I never knew John Adams and Jefferson had both died on 4th July. See, we do always learn something new every day. In fact I learned more than one thing with your facts. Thank you for these.
