85% of Success is showing up, or was it 80%?

That's what Woody said!

There is always great lessons to learn from every mistake made. Yes interested in more stories

Thanks for your support Q, I appreciate that. As long as you would like to read them, I will write them!

I really like your band story, Kaju. And it teaches you something else as well - branding is really important, otherwise not only the club owner would have complained but also the crowd. They probably knew the name of your band and knew your music was cool but didn't know your faces. So, for them, it didn't really matter what was in the tin, as long as the brand name was on it and the quality was fine.
The message is - apart from making sure you communicate with your customers - create a recognizable brand and your products will be a big hit regardless of what's in the tin, as long as the quality is ok.
Yes, please, I would like to hear more of those stories, Kaju.

Very insightful Sammy, I couldn't have said this better myself. Thanks, I would love to tell more of these type of entertaining stories with a lesson. But for some reason, not many people have commented on this thread?

Why do you think this is so?

Kaju, I don't really think that the lower numbers are due to the content of your post as it's a very good read and has a clear message (or two). Maybe some people have taken some time off as it was Whitsun weekend and are therefore less active or it was just Terrible Tuesday.
I would try again in a while and post a band story. The outcome could be quite different.

You always inspire me Sammy! Very very true, thank you I am looking up Whitsun Day on Google right now!

That was a good story and I would like to hear more band stories. You are right though you have to be present no matter what just in case because you never know what can happen at a gig. Or in this business too. We have to be forthright with our customers at all times because we don't know what can happen.

Right on Mary, you never know what will happen. And what feels like a bad performance to you usually is a fine performance to your audience, Same thing with a business meeting for instance, you thought it didn't go so well, but at least you were there, and it probably wasn't so bad from the client's perspective.

Most important, the more you show up the more you will succeed. In anything. Thanks Mary!

You are so very welcome and I really appreciate that story you told because it fits right into out business.

Thank You for appreciating my story and seeing the relevance Mary. I appreciate you :)!

Nice one Kaju. From my experience, there are going to be many days where you "show up" and it feels like you have accomplished nothing in terms of forward progress.

However, it is these days a long with the ones that have many breakthroughs that lead to your overall expertise and success.

Same way when a basketball player has a bad shooting day in practice or in a game, an Internet entrepreneur will have good and bad days. But to have the great days, you must show up regularly and have the bad days.

Thanks for your input Kyle, absolutely you MUST show up and go through those bad days to see the great days. And many times those bad days you don't want to go to work you achieve very productive results.

What most people don't realize is we don't have to feel our best to achieve good results and make a positive impact on the people around us. Main thing is to just show up.

Kyle, I really appreciate it that you pointed these great points out and found good value in this story lesson.

Great story! Thanks for sharing!
Best,
Marcus

I've learned even your bad days look good to others. The more you show up, the more successful you will be. Thanks Marcus!

Hi Kaju, I don't have any band stories, but if you don't turn up people can't appreciate your talent,, even if you have an off day:-) Best Alan

You got it, Alan! If you don't show up you lose the opportunity. Period. And even if you have a bad day (or a bad gig), what is "bad" to you may not be so bad or even good to your audience.

I learned this a long time ago, that when you are talented even your bad days look good to your audience.

Cheers,
Kaju

Kaju,

I'm an ex-groupie so I always love hearing behind the scenes stories about bands and their performances. I enjoy your blogs.

I like Woody Allen's quote about 90% is showing up and the other 10% is what you showing up for. As I am readjusting my schedule to accommodate WA I have learned I can't be everywhere all the time.

My friends and co-workers at my volunteer group have been told I'm spending more time at home working on my business and some meetings I will attend if only important matters are being discussed. I will attend if decisions need to be made and feedback is warranted.

By changing my priorities I have actually accomplished more with less time away from the house. When I shop, I have a list and I get in and get out. When I do go out, I plan my trips. This has all happened, because it is important for me to be engaged with WA at least 6-8 hours everyday.

I was doing this with my volunteer groups but it wasn't advancing my career. Now I know that the time I spend with WA will lead to my success.

All the best,

Louisa

I love your ambition Louisa, your work ethic is very inspiring! Keep up the excellent work!

Kaju,

Thank you.

Today I woke up to see that my WA ranking dropped from 4749 to 561.

Ambassador Bound!!

All the best,

Louisa

You will be in the Top 100 in no time!

Good read Kaju, it really helped in self introspection of things we take for granted.

My pleasure, I'm glad you enjoyed the read and it helped you with self-introspection.

Define "Showing up", do you mean just making time to do the work required to be successful or showing up from the perspective of being open to new experiences?

You would be surprised Rodney how often other things will take care of itself if you just show up and do the work. If you are doing something you love that you show up to regularly, you ARE open to new experiences.

I like the sound of that.

Awesome!
