Should I join Wealthy Affiliate ? Key factors in making your decision

Today I want to give my take on Wealthy Affiliate. A lot of people ask themselves out of curiousity, should I join wealthy affiliate? They ask this because they are afraid of buying into another scam. So I want to share with those people my experience. I joined wealthy affiliate at the beginning of 2017.

And no, it was not a resolution, I just went for it. After all, I don’t think resolutions last as long. As my two year anniversary of joining Wealthy Affiliate comes up, I can confidently say that I have had the best experience I can ever have with the training. I have learned many things from Kyle and Carson and the rest of the community. This includes thinks like

  • how to build a website
  • how to do keyword research
  • how to write a review
  • how to choose a niche
  • and much much more.

I have learned to make a few mistakes and will continue to do so in the sake of learning. In regards to making your decision, you should ask yourself the following questions:

How much time can I commit and will commit?

If you can commit to 1 or 2 hours a day to working on the training and taking action, that is certainly better than doing nothing. If you can commit more, even better. I don’t expect most people to do this especially when they have to punch in a regular 9-5 job. So 1 to 2 should be good when first starting out.

Time is a really crucial part and you have to start slow if you want to commit more time to your online business eventually. We all hear stories about how most bloggers, affiliates, and entrepreneurs in general commit to 40 to even 80 your work weeks. As a beginner, you need to build up to that level if you don’t have that already. I see many people who join and say they are willing to work 80 hours a week on their online business but end up doing the exact opposite. Does that make them lazy? Possibly, but I don’t want to make a blind assumption. It is also possible they realize it isn’t sustainable if they have never put in such a

Will I actually do the training as instructed?

This is the next thing you need to ask yourself. I have seen a lot of people end up joining on the premium but never take action on the training. They don’t complete any of the tasks.

I think that is a total waste of that persons money and the opportunity right in front of them. If they did this on the free membership, I wouldn’t take much issue because money wasn’t wasted.

Remember, the Free trial is a chance to see if Wealthy Affiliate is right for you. If you end up doing nothing with the training because you realized that it didnt suit you, that is perfectly ok.

How much money am I willing to invest in this?

If you are NOT willing to invest money in a business, don’t expect to get very far. All businesses require money, even a small amount such as affiliate marketing.

There are expenses for auto responders (don’t worry about this when starting out because you won’t need it yet anyway), domain name purchases, courses, hosting plans, themes, and advertising especially if you are doing PPC.

One last thing

If you decide NOT to upgrade to premium because you don’t feel it is for you, there is absolutely no shame in admitting it. Like anything else, this isn’t for everyone.Professional basketball certainly wasn’t for me ( I don’t have the height or skills to play) and affiliate marketing isn’t for everyone. But at least you had an open mind because you took the FREE TRIAL. The sooner you can figure out whether this is or isn’t for you, the better. In fact, figuring this out soon will allow you to figure out what is for you.

What other members have to say?

What other things do you think potential members or current free trial members should think about before upgrading to premium?

Thanks for sharing, Jessie. First, I did some research on the business to see if it's a scam or not. I could not find anything bad about Wealthy Affiliate. If you decide to go with Wealthy Affiliate, then go for it.

Smart to do some research, I know most aren’t going to find scam reviews of wealthy affiliate but I think people also need to take massive action even if it’s on the free training.

Hi Jessie,

I totally agree. Affiliate Marketing is not for everyone, neither is building websites.

The part I like the most is learning how to build a niche website that enabled me to follow my passion (family history) and see it blossom into a rare orchid. I did not need to make money, but I had a passion to fill.

Now I would like to play the game of monetizing a niche website to build an audience off individuals I presently do not know. My money spending habit are relatively fixed at age 74 so I can take my time. Every little bit extra will have me thinking of what I want to do with it, and that will be a pleasure in and of itself. Sort like dreaming of winning a lottery and I'd spend the money, but more realistic and a reality.

I liked your blog totally honest and up-front about Affiliate Marketing and WA.

Regards,
Roger

It’s good to know your working at it. It does certainly help to love what you do in order to be crazy enough to put in such a time commitment as well.

Good to hear from you Jessie

WA certainly is a fantastic platform and going premium is a must do. Jim

Are there any factors in making a decision that you think free members need to answer before upgrading? I don’t think it’s enough to say that it’s just a fabtastic platform. I’d rather keep this discussion on topic.

The only things I thought about was finishing the first level of training so that I'd be sure it was something I really wanted to do. Then I made sure I could afford it. Simple as that. I have no regrets.

Going premium is the best option, for many reasons like no upsells, plethora of training, ethical and spam free atmosphere and so on.

Do you have any ideas about who shouldn’t go premium? Wealthy Affiliate isn’t for everyone and I’d rather be objective towards who the platform best serves. It comes of really spammy to think it is for everyone. I think it doesn’t hurt to try it out for free

There's no real way of knowing if it's for you or not until you've at least attempted to get your website going. I decided to go premium because I wasn't a WordPress expert. It's fine to start out with the two free websites , and if you are able to build them into a profitable site without the help of the premium level of training then that's fantastic. The great thing with premium is that you can pick out up to 50 different Niches, so you're bound to find something that will hold your interest. There are members here that make a living out of developing sites and then selling them. I'm not sure where you want to head with this discussion but most love the WA platform, I know I do. I can't actually find any negatives to talk about. Jim

Good summary of options involved in making a decision.
