Planning to Succeed

How often have you started a project only to fail at it? How often have you started something only to find that you have not enough material or time to complete the project? The list goes on. The thing is you failed to plan. A quote that is used often is"if you fail to plan then you plan to fail". I am as guilty as most people. I fail to plan so I end up not being successful, as a result I become discouraged and despondent.

One of the points that Wealthy Affiliate stresses is to plan. Plan out your day, week, and month for your short term goals. Plan out how you are going to reach a goal that is one year, five years or ten years away. Wealthy Affiliate wants you to plan so that you have a detailed path to success. One of the reasons for planning is to begin the transformation of your way of thinking. We are trained from an early age to do well in school and to follow the rules. Do not do anything that will rock the boat so to speak. It takes a complete transformation of the way we think after so many years of training to play it safe. You have to plan your way each day to be able to maximize your potential.

Dedication to a Purpose

Now that you have started to plan, you have to dedicate yourself to a purpose or goal. You must review your goal at least on a weekly basis but it is better to do it on a daily basis. If it is possible use visual aids for example a picture, a scaled reproduction, sculpture, etc. whatever it takes to put a firm visualization in your mind. Talk about your dream to others. After you have reviewed your goal and have it firmly in your mind that it is possible then you start taking action on how you are to achieve that goal. You MUST work hard to achieve your goals. It may be writing, tweaking your website, research or something else.

You will not achieve your goal without putting in the time. If you do not put in the time and the effort then you will become frustrated, disappointed and depressed because you have not achieved the type of success you wanted. Always remember that your goal or purpose belongs to YOU alone. No one else can achieve your goal for you. Your dedication to your goal can only come from you. It is designed by you, filled out by you and grown by you. One word of caution allow for setbacks. Setbacks help you to learn. If you do not make mistakes then you are very fortunate. Mistakes help you to learn it on a deeper level and retain that information for later.

Success of Planning

After you have done your planning and dedication, you should have success. Success comes in many forms. It may be money, social position, authority on a particular subject, the list goes on. Whatever you deem success came with planning and dedication to achieving that goal. You took action,

This is a short example of how these three elements work together.

As many of you know my niche is grilling. This is the method I use for grilling. I use charcoal and hardwood for a good smokey flavor.

I had a brisket to smoke for a client.

1. Planning:

Buy a brisket

Season and marinate the brisket

Get the charcoal or hardwood for smoking

Get the fire and coals to the right temperature

Place the brisket on the grill

2 Dedication to getting the desired results:

maintain the desired temperature

add more fuel for smoking

allow time for the smoking.

Desired Results:

Flavorful brisket

Tender flavorful meat

Consistent smokey flavor

I stated in planning to allow for setbacks. When I went to start the fire in my smoker, it was drizzling rain. The area I currently have to smoke in is uncovered. I had allowed for this and purchased extra charcoal and hardwood. I spent two hours working to get the fire and coals to the right temperature. The results of the smoked brisket were amazing and I now have six new clients.

I may not have given all of the details of what it is to be successful on your site but for me these three are the most important. Planning plus dedication equals success. As a side note remember it is ok make changes in your execution of your plan as long as the changes are for the increased efficiency of the plan and better results.
