After reading some blogs and comments, it was said that it was OK to change the title of a post as long as you didn't change the permalink. So I went ahead and removed the date

Go to settings in your wordpress dashboard and make sure the permalink format matches your desire. If all was ok. It should look as still is there...

Hi Fleeky, I have checked the permalink and it is the same as it was before. I appreciate the advice, thank you.
Jenny

Very strange
Better ask site support to look into this for you

Your second comment in regards to getting help is what got me here, I'm going to suggest to refeteching your article and see if its shows back in #3.

I'm no expert at this but, what happens is usually when you make changes to your article, it's a good idea to fetch it so Google knows that you made changes.

There is no guarantee that it will show up again, but i personally seen when I fetch articles that disappeared in the search engines
reappear again once I fetch again.

Another way to get answer to questions is to make statements like you just made! You want to get answers to get successful at what you want, sometimes you gotta claw your way to your top! Great Statement Girlfriend!

Hi Evelyn, thanks for all the great advice, I will try your suggestions, and read the post.
For 12 months I had watched my post slowly make it's way up to page 3 of Google, when it disappeared, I was a bit gutted. My first thought was to reach out to friends at WA for help and with the exception of Phil, nothing! I was a bit gutted again! Thanks for your supportive comments, much appreciated.
All the best
Jenny

Also, please continue to write content and do good keyword research, by doing that, it is going to help keep your articles ranking. I also know this because I've had my share of NOT consistently writing articles and that can be a reason why traffic and rankings diminish, best of luck to you!

Hi Evelyn, Yes I will try and be more consistent with content, I know it is important. Last year was a bit of a none event, I was out for quite a few months with a shoulder injury, I thought I would get heaps done, but it effected my concentration and motivation. I am just coming good now, unfortunately they just told me I have to have the other shoulder fixed also, so will probably be out for the second half of this year as well. So I will need that luck lol.
Jenny

Hey Jenny I will pray for you, as I also know how life circumstances can happen. Best of luck!

Thanks Evelyn :)

I just looked again at "Wealthy Affiliate review 2018 scam or not" in Google with quotes and your post is #1. I can see your frustration!

It might be that the keyword gets a lot of competition and it will take time for it to rise up the ranks again. I just went into Google and searched for your keyword "Wealthy Affiliate review: scam or not" and that is the exact same title of someone else's post. There are many similar variations of it as well on other sites such as using a dash instead of the colon. You will need to find a different title to rank well probably. Otherwise you might have to wait awhile to compete.

Hi Jessica, thanks for your reply.
I had already done the waiting, and was starting to compete, I had watched it slowly work it's way up to page 3 of Google for "wealthy affiliate review 2018". When I took the date out of the title, it disappeared, I guess this may have changed my keyword? I don't know. Within 24 hours I put the date back in the title but nothing in the first 20 pages!
I really just want to know what action I took made it disappear so I don't repeat the mistake.
Thanks again
Jenny

Yes, I think that changes your keyword. There is more competition for that keyword without the date since then you are competing against post written over many different years.

With 2018 in the keyword if you search for it on Google in quotes, there are only 8 results. If you take 2018 out, there are 1,590 results. If you are now competing with 1,590 other similar posts it could take awhile for your post to come back up.

Can you find another angle to write from? What is your target audience? Can you target them more specifically and not have Wealthy Affiliate in the keyword at all?

If your long tail keyword was wealthy affiliate review 2018 - is that the exact keyword you put in your all in one seo? If it is than yes it would have changed your keyword somehow i believe

Or put another way.... on the bottom of your post when you edit it in wordpress you have your all in one seo pack for the title ,description, keywords etc...did you edit any of that when you took out the 2018?

Hi Jessica, yes I might look at some different angles and maybe write a new post. Thanks for your help.
Jenny

Hi Cathy, No I didn't change the keywords in the all in one seo, that all remained the same. I don't think I am going know for sure what happened, I think I'm going to have to chalk this one up to experience. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Jenny

Sorry tom hear about this Jenny, I have heard of these anomalies before. Have you checked variations of "Wealthy affiliate review 2018:scam or not" in incognito mode without the quotes?

Yes, I have searched incognito for "wealthy affiliate review 2018:scam or not" it is still on page 2 of Google, but not many people would search this keyword. So I had been searching for "wealthy Affiliate review 2018" for months and it had slowly worked it's way onto page 3, this is the one that has disappeared.
I understand that I can't do anything about it now and will just have to learn from my mistake. But I wanted to find out why it happened so I don't do it again. I wanted to take the date out of the post title to make it appear more current.
While I have you here I have another question, hope you don't mind?
When I try to register with Google Analytics it asks for my website URL and it says I have to verify that I am the owner of the website. Can I enter a siterubix website and say I am the owner? or am I unable to do this because technically Wealthy Affiliate is the owner?
Thanks Kaju
Jenny

Hi Jenny,

As far as I know, you cannot register a siterubix site with Google Analytics. I could be wrong (but I don't thnk so); any site i"ve ever registered I owned myself as a .com or a .net. But it can be any available extension as long as YOU own it.

But that's easy, just purchase a new domain name you will own, and tell Site Support to transfer (copy) the contents from your siterubix site to your new domain name. I've done this several times here, as I use siterubix as test sites.

As far as SEO is concerned and how keywords and meta information affect it, you should read my recent blog post here: Hope this information can help you:)

Kaju

Thanks for the info on Google Analytics and domains, sounds pretty straightforward.
I am going to go cook dinner now, I have two sets of eyes looking at me LOL. I will take a look at your blog post a little later tonight.
Thanks for your time and your advice, I know it's getting late in your part of the world.
Jenny

Are you searching for it on Google using the old post title, the new post title or the permalink?

Have you checked that changing the post title didn't automatically change the permalink?

Hi Phil,
The permalink post title is still the same, it did not change automatically when I changed the title.

The permalink title Wealthy affiliate review 2018:scam or not is still showing on page 2 but it had also been on page 3 for Wealthy affiliate review 2018 that's the one that has disappeared and I have checked Google for that title, with and without the date, but nothing.

Thank you for your quick response.
Jenny

Sorry I couldn't really help.

Can anyone tell me how to change the size of the writing in my website content? Someone had a look at my website and suggested I make the writing a little bigger, they said it

This video should help

Awesome Marion!

How about for the font itself? I use WP edit to change that but is there an easier way without having to do that?

Yes, there's CSS for that too.

Thanks so much Marion. I appreciate you!!

Awesome Marion, all fixed. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Jenny

Most themes these days provide option to change the font size in the customisation section. Wordpress > appearance >customize.

If the theme does not have that option, you can always change it by putting this CSS to the CSS option in the customisation section

p {font-size: 16px;}

You can change the font size accordingly as different font family displayed differently.

Thanks Joe, I will take a look and see what I can do. I don't 100% understand what you advised, but my son may be able to help me! if not I'll be be back for more help lol, sorry.

I am in phase 2, lesson 5, in Affiliate Bootcamp. This is the time to catch up and clean up!

I want to go back to a couple of my first posts and add more content and imag

Always go back and improve what you have written. Yu are learning more each day in training and you need to apply that to the new and old.

You may do so from wordpress site not from WA site-content.

It is recommended to add more information to the current posts to add value to what is already in there. Google would crawl your site from time to time and if IT sees new content in there, it will rewards accordingly.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for your reply. Good to know Google, rewards for new content. Why can't I use site content to do this?
Regards
Jenny

Once you published the content to wordpress, it is only editable in wordpress. Some members advised to copy and paste the whole content, delete the post and republish it via site-content which not in my favor.

Still, it's your preference.

Thanks Joe, all the best.
Jenny

This will not so much affect your ranking, if at all it will improve your ranking.
Make sure you do not over stuff with your keyword and DO NOT touch the permalink!
Reviewing content is always a good thing, just make sure you stick to the rules.

Thanks for the quick response Loes. I will put the full price details in my post, but do you think I should put the WA price also and link it to my WA review page? I feel like it's a good idea, but not 100% sure, would appreciate your advice.

WA Affiliate Program

I am in the process of changing my raw affiliate links over to to pretty links (phase 2 bootcamp). My question is do I make a pretty links for each separate page on my website

From what I learned so far in level 2, I am in there as well, Kyle explains to lead all information related to Wealthy Affiliate to a separate section of your website and let all your links to Wealthy Affiliate go from there.

The same is for your comments section, if people like to know more, never give them links directly to WA, but give them an internal link to that section of your website.

Then use pretty link to your WA links.

My question is: how many links should we start with, what is too much, especially when you are just starting your website.

If we put links up to WA on a particular page of that section, should we index it if there are too many links?

Or just start with a couple of links and build it out along the content which is growing on your website?

I like to hear the meanings of the experts here, like Marion :)

Thanks for putting this question up here Jennifer.

Stefan, ToLiNoLi

Hi Stefan, thanks for the reply and the info. Thanks to all the wonderful people here at WA giving me advice I think I have got it straight now YEY. 1. I put all my direct WA (pretty links) links in my main review page. 2. Any link in all other posts should link back to my review page, not directly to WA sign up page.
I didn't know the same applied for the comments section so thanks for that.
I have 5 WA links in my main WA review page and one banner do you think that is too much or not enough?
One more question when I sign off at the end of my posts (not my review page) with my name and website link, do I use my website homepage url or my review page (where all my WA links are) url?
Thanks Stefan
Jenny

You're in Phase 2 way to go. But I'm pretty sure you don't have to use pretty links for everything it's your handle here at WA. Again though don't quote me on that

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. Yes have to use pretty links on affiliate links only, got it now!
Thanks
Jenny

It's only the affiliate links that you need to make "pretty".

Hi Marion, I was a little confused thought I had to make all links pretty links. my son just explained it too me, only affiliate links, got it! Feel a bit stupid sometimes but, I do get there eventually LOL.
Thanks so much for your reply and also for the reply to my question a couple of weeks ago about my website pages showing on google. thank you for the info on sitemaps which I will go through when I reach that in my training As for the page I couldn't find, I got an email this morning saying google had indexed my main review page, which was the page I had been looking for YEY! So I am moving forward just on a slower pace than most but, I am happy with that. Thanks again, couldn't do it alone.

Jenny

Good question Iv'e been thinking the same myself

All it is is to make you affiliate link nice to the eyes...

Hi and thanks for the quick response. So is it really just personal choice? why do google like them better than raw?
Thanks
Jenny

Hi me again!! Had a chat with my son he set me straight on a few things. I was thinking you had to pretty link all links including your website url ! I get it now only affiliate product links. Sorry still fairly new and with little knowledge takes me a few rounds to understand LOL but getting there, just a little slower than most. Thanks for your time
