Today I had jetpack installed in my other website on wp org as I need the Like button/plugin for my posts/pages. But I've uninstalled it as the like button didn't work.

Si

Hi Jenn! I use "Simple Share Buttons Adder" from plugin list for normal sharing but I don't know if it includes sharing with WP. As I'm typing I seem to recall "Share Buttons add to any" might do it for you. Phil

Thanks, Phil. I appreciate that. :))

You can try creating your own button here:

http://developer.wordpress.com/docs/follow-button-creation/

Not sure if it will work on a WP.org site though, but if you read the end of the following thread, there seems to be a suggestion that it can be done

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/put-a-follow-button-for-wordpresscom-users-on-my-website

And it will depend on your theme as to exactly where you would add the code. You may need to get further advice about that.

You're awesome, Jude. Thank you. I appreciate your time and help. :))

I get so many User Registration's notification and they have added themselves in my website as USERs (subscribers). What should I do? Any idea how not to allow

Glad that you sorted it out.

Yes, Annick. ;)

Glad that you got it sorted out Jenn. Hugs

Yes, Susan. Thank you.

You are very welcome dear sister Jenn xx

Thank you for your quick response, everyone. I had unchecked the box. Thank you all. Mwahhh.. :)))) Good night.

I have to clean up everyday.

Add a captcha at your subscription form, at least you will only get "human" bots.

Hi Jen, have a look under Settings, General on your dashboard. There should be a checkbox for "Membership: Anyone can register" this should stop most of your unwanted registrations.
You could alter their status to subscriber, contributor or just remove them through the Users section of your dashboard. If they are just spammers, adjust your discussion settings to filter them out

Not much you can do Jenn, you need the subscribers to improve your website. Maybe just unsubscribe them individually.

Jay did a training on that for WordPress. Look under Live Video Classes. You can go to your WordPress dashboard under comments and blacklist the URL of users that you don't want on your site. You can also empty all of your spam comments from there.

Go into Settings>General and make sure the "Anyone can register" box is not ticked.

Ah... I just saw it too... you're brilliant. Thanks, Steve.

Using CAPCHA?

Yes.

If yes, how do you use it and what's the result?

If no, would you plan to do so?

I'm still in a huge dilemma re: FB ads.

Thanks.

Jenn

I think Twitter is better for paid marketing right now.

New stuff to learn. :s

I had not thought of advertising on Twitter. Thank you for that Arick

Advertising in general is the only way you can make yourself visible to the public. So it does not matter where you advertise it will reflect on your visibility. What makes an ad successful is the content you using to advertise, its not the product you advertising.
Remember back in school, the most popular kid in school is the one that's been talked about the most. AKA word of mouth advertising! Any advertising works the same.

Make your content interesting, believable and visible and you will be noticed!

I like that, Nick. Which is what I've been doing for others. Campaigning other's products through engagement. Thanks for your input.

I have tried it, facebook ads are unpredictable.. you will always reach audience but the engagement is not that much up to expectations.. there would be sharing, likes but the clicks and active participation is low.. however with a broader perspective of creating your brand awareness I guess facebook ads are good but for temporary success, its a bad idea..

Thanks for your input, Hari. Really appreciate it. :) How long did you do the fb ads? I mean how many days or weeks per ad campaign?

Jenn

I did it with little budget.. one time for a day and one time for a week.. the whole day one worked well..got few likes and clicks..

Thanks for sharing, Hari.

Hi Jenn, if you're talking about the ads to get likes, RUN the other way. No difference if its a third party, or Face Book itself, RUN. AWAY.
I would suggest doing a Google search for why to never buy Face Book Likes to get all the details. In a nutshell this is what happens.
You will get lots of people that will go like your page, as they are getting paid to, and will never, ever, look at it again. What happens then is that when you go to share something only a small segment of your followers will see it. (Face Book does a test run with a small percentage of your followers) and if they do not like it, then it will not go out to the rest of your followers. If you just bought say half of your audience or worse, even more, then you have a huge problem. The paid for followers will never see it as they have no interest in your page, (too busy clicking more likes to get paid) and so the majority of your real followers will never see it either. Ends up you have less exposure to the people that really want to see your information instead of the increase you were hoping for.

Hi Ed, you made me laugh with your RUN. AWAY. :D Thanks for your input, Ed. I'll definitely weigh the goods and the bads. :D I might be running far away. I'll let you know my decision. ;)
Jenn

Jenn, I'd be inclined to take Drawshot's advice. He has explained more or less what the article said. You need genuine Likes, not bought ones, to make real progress.

You mention in a comment that you've been advised to invest $10 daily into your business. Investing in your business does make good sense, but If you have money to invest, save it up for something that's not just 'money down the drain'. Even getting yourself nice business cards to give to people would, in my opinion, be a better investment. You could even hand them out to checkout clerks and anyone else you are in contact with on a daily basis - with your lovely smile - and tell them you've recently created this page and would they like to take a look. You've got a lovely smile, people are naturally nosey... and you'd have REAL people, people in your neighbourhood, taking an interest in what you are doing.

Hope this helps. You are a smart cookie, I trust you to make a good decision.

Those are a lot of compliments there, Isabella, which make my smile grow wider and wider and wider. Now, my cheeks hurt. :D
Thanks, Isabella. I trust I'll make you proud of my future venture and hope I don't do crazy decision like I did in the prior years - decide everything without considering the pros and cons.
Jenn

Sorry to make your cheek hurt :-) :-)

I didn't know that you've made crazy decisions in the past... but I can totally relate. So did I - and I was a lot older than you (and should have known better) but like all the other members here who have signed up for shiny objects or things they didn't really need, I did the same. I heard you should build a list - signed up for an autoresponder before I knew how to collect email addresses -- and other stupid things. That's why I am keen to stop you wasting money. But of course if you want to treat it as an experiment to see the result (and possibly waste money one time, fully aware that you might be wasting it) then that's a decision for you to make ... an experience which you could then use if you are doing the Bootcamp and create a 'money making - don't waste your money' site (where your previous 'crazy' decisions might also come in handy for what not to do.)

Sorry for making this so long...

Please don't apologise, Isabella. I really appreciate your input. I do. And I definitely will see what's best. Tomorrow is Monday and I am going to start working with a new list of goals for June (I've posted my goals already too). This would also be a part of the goals but not number 1. ;) Thank you again, so much, Isabella. :)

Hi Jenn, part of that was to give you a laugh, I think its good to try to inject a bit of humor into things when we can and appropriate. Laughter is good medicine, and you've tickled my funny bone a few times yourself. If talking about other Facebook ads, not the buying like ones, I've heard both good and bad. It might depend on the niche, or the actual ad. Could always do a small test and see what happens, if get good results, run with it, if not, either change up the ad or pick another advertising partner. Best wishes love.

Thanks, Ed.

It has its pros and cons. If you're willing to pay for the ads, then you have chances of getting likes and visitors to your site. The thing is you have to pay just to get likes. Personally I'm not 100% comfortable with it.

Thanks for your input, Jen.

I have been using Facebook for a little while now. i agree with giludi, it works for a project, and also as dillion mentioned a landing page. I would expect to spend approx. $100.00 for a good ad. my objection was I felt pressured about spending more money all the time. I also read an article about facebook and how they are aware of what they are doing to make more money like Internetgranny mentioned it was quite a intense article. Hope this helps. And this is only my opinion.
Sherrie

https://www.facebook.com/triorganicmakeup

Thanks, Sherrie. :) I value all opinions. I'm advised to invest at least $10 per day but I have to be sure what I'm doing especially when I'm half hearted with a project idea.
Jenn

I used facebook ads and they gave me good results, will do it again for my new project.

Thanks for sharing. I'm collecting the pros and cons.

I used facebook ads and it's really good only way promote products is do a landing page :) but everything works fine ;)

Thanks for sharing. Now, I get more confused. lol

Haven't used them and have made a mental note never to do so.

Someone here posted a link to a report that I read from top to bottom that made me decide to absolutely steer clear of them.... mainly had something to do with Facebook choosing who they show them to and how few people will actually see them. If I come across it again I'll give you the link.

I remember that article Isabella. Made FB really unappealing by the way the data is manipulated!

Hmmm... now, I'm curious. Can't wait to read the same article. Thanks, Isabella and Tria.

Not planning on it. Too expensive.

:) True, Amy. Hence, my dilemma.

I don't think I have read any or probably I AM losing my mind (touch wood).

I would like to know what I can or cannot do (or write or share) on WA. I do not want to jeopar

There you go, you Rebel you.....LOL

Thanks, Digger. :)

very welcome :-)

Jenn you can basically write about anything as long as it makes sense. Remember google is watching and grading your logs so if you write good blogs you will get good rankings from google and good rankings means good money. Enjoy!

Google? I was saying about WA, Nick.

Yes, I know about all those robots google has. So far, I'm still ok despite my rantings and ravings, I mean with my other websites that I don't share here. :)

Yes Google, even if you post a blog in WA google can see it (don't ask me how) they see your blogs on WA and rank you accordingly. So I'm sure they can see blogs on any website. Google is the BIg Brother for websites hehe!

You can get it on phase 1 lesson 3 round about at the bottom

:D I am getting old. I can't remember everything. So, I still want to see it on the side bar/main menu here, so I don't make any mistakes (this last part after the comma is on behalf of some people who have been wondering why their posts were 'removed').

Hi Jenn, I wish I had seen that link earlier. I was excited about a piece of software you would normally have to buy, but there was a one day offer of the full version for free. Tried to share it, as I was sure others here would want it, and received this message a few minutes later.

"We have deleted this post. It is considered spam at Wealthy Affiliate as we do not allow any solicitation or recommending of links (including affiliate links).

Please refrain from adding this kind of content to Wealthy Affiliate in the future."

So make sure you read the rules, I have that link saved now lol. I like this place too much to want to get booted.

Hi Ed,
So you got a message on your 'deleted' post? Good to know but no link added? I would still like to have a direct link from the left bar and just click once and read all about the yes and no. :)
Jenn

Hi Jenn, the only link to rules I've seen so far, and only since I had my blog deleted, is the one provided by scottdogg187 and Jaweda2k. I agree that it would be nice to have a link on the main menu that has all the rules for WA that are in force. I am anti spam, and have already reported a few posts here at WA that were outright sales pages, I never would have posted about the free software if I knew it was considered spam for just giving links to it..

Me too, Ed. Always abide by the rules.

I always had/have positive feedback why I got caught by my teacher, got punishment by my parents or had to pay more than 50% of my income to the government (taxes).

Jenn

Hi Jenn,
With the newly added addition of favorites, now you can bookmark anything you want and be able to access it with a click of a button. See the star at the top of this post? This feature has been added to every post at WA. Click on the star and this will save the rules and regulations for WA to your favorites.

I know this isn't the same as having it in the side menu. You could suggest this to Kyle or Carson and they will put it on their list to be possibly added sometime in the near future.
Scott

Ahha! That's something! Thanks, Scott. I never knew the meaning of the star. And I sure will suggest to both of them. :)
Thanks.
Jenn

Hi Jenn,
I'm glad that you have asked this question and here is the guidelines or rules that everyone must abide by to make the WA experience the best it can be for everyone. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wealthy-affiliate-the-open-education-project/spam-is-a-no-no I hope this clarifies what you can and cannot do.
Scott

Thanks, Scott.

I am pretty sure no one has lead me to this link. It's difficult for people who are new and haven't got the chance to read the rules and all of a sudden, removed, from whatever (that we are not aware of).

I would like to have the rules and regulations posted among the rest on the side bar so I can always refer to it, so that I don't do anything not according to the rules (you know how free my mouth and mind are).

Thank you again.

Jenn

OK! I haven't read this as it's too much stuff over here that I didn't know where to go first. Thanks, James.
