I can sort of see where Google is coming from, by doing this action. There are a lot of "natural" remedies that are akin to snake oil sales in the online market. It's a bit of a predatory field. Moderating this field can protect a lot of people from dangerous and predatory outlier sites.
These predatory outlier sites likely have nothing to do with the sites here on WA, they are only a victim in a larger target.
Regardless, it comes down to what Google thinks will keep them top dog. If people are complaining to Google about top sites committing malpractice, then Google has to act fast to ensure their clients are safe.
The only results I am finding affected are uber generic and not direct searches, an example would be Healthy CBD or Hemp CBD are not affected at all even though some CBD in the second one if from Marijuana and not Hemp.
After a little bit of googling, I can see that they are targeting very generic searches too. I don't know a lot of people who do super generic searches like this, especially when it comes to alt medicine (they seem like some of the most specific people out there), so at worst it's not affecting too big of an audience for people here on WA.

CBD has an additional struggle, Andy!
Fb, Ebay, Paypal are freezing accounts for months ruining businesses! Even though CBD is completely legal at the federal level, states, also here in Hawaii make it still hard to use it and do business with it! I know it from a first hand, real guy and a friend of mine.

Most of the freezes are over improper practices such as small resellers abusing forum groups and using them to SPAM other members. These groups have a lot of foreign nationals who don't realize CDB may be illegal in their country but is legal in the US and report the SPAM. Smaller sellers tend to breach eBay and Pay-Pal Terms of Service selling these products which have not been adopted by their services but it sounds like you have given me some ammunition for a future article or two.

If people end up feeling like Google is "commercializing" or "politicizing" search results to their liking; people will start gravitating to other search engines.
Just as there are some news channels that I don't follow because they are slanted.

As far as I am aware off it is not only the health niche where Google has done a cleanup, Gambling, Home and Garden, FInance also.
I went to a google meeting recently and google stated that they will invest in the health niche as they believe it will be the next booming niche. For a fact they already secured a line of investments 5 years ago.
Their reason was that we will have increased in older people than younger ones and the older ones will be looking in alternative solutions.

The corporate's turning the screws?.
No natural health products are tested by the FDA or any other health body in any country.
They check the facility to make sure the manufacturing process is compliant. That is as far as it goes for natural health manufacturing.
I would be guessing as to why this has happened, but I suspect corporate legal departments have had a conversation, and freedom of choice has lost.
This could extend to Face book, E-Bay and Amazon, which might seem far fetched, but it is the way the world is leaning now.
Recent examples include a footballer being sacked because he posted a biblical passage, a worker sacked because he shared a comedian's skit. Plenty of others I am sure.

I read a post here on WA a couple days ago saying Google has partnered with Big Pharma and Big Pharma does not want health supplements to get ranked. I did not search this for validity. I don’t know how true it is.

It is for this reason that I abandoned and eventually deleted a food supplement site that I hosted here in WA.
I have this medical background in college, studied BS Pharmacy in Manila Central University College of Pharmacy but didn't finish the course because of financial constraints back then, but in terms of knowledge, I am at par with my graduated counterparts. But since with the new rules that's being hammered by Google, that you have to be a literal authority before they can rank you good, then I felt I am not qualified anymore to blog about my topic.
How will I fare with doctors with actual licenses blogging online? What about with websites like WebMD? I'm not even a licensed pharmacist (although I have enough knowledge of the field).
But then, I will re-open a new site, a site that's again related to natural remedies and food supplements as it is really one of my passions. I have spent more than a decade on the subject matter, even applying to myself some of the knowledge that I have acquired for my good health.
This time, I no longer care about Google. I have 5,000 friends on Facebook, most of them knew me as a good resource person about the health and wellness. I will just share my posts on my timeline, I don't care if Google ignore them as long as my real audience are benefiting from my knowledge!
Yes, absolutely, Gomer! This is the solution. Pull back and create something new, something independent from Google searches.

do you have to be an MD or expert in health care to share
the knowledge you have or to do research on a subject an
provide your website readers with articles from people who
are considered experts ?
If that's the case then you might as well not even have a
casual conversation about the subject with anyone.
If you are not prescribing medication or diagnosing ailments
on your site,
then just like any other magazine or article that someone reads,
its up to the reader to decide what they want to believe or
follow based on the information they have.
Why stop providing people with that critical information they
might need just because someone doesn't consider you an
expert,
until they pass a law making it illegal for just sharing information unless you are a licensed expert,
I will continue to share with my readers any information they
might need to know to help them improve their lives
and google can do whatever they want, they are just one platform
