Let your determination be stronger than your fear - so says Dolly Parton. And I think she would know!

If you know anything about this amazing woman, you will know that she came from being "dirt poor" (her description) to becoming a famous entertainer and huge philanthropist. Just one of her philanthropic activities is her enormous commitment to literacy for children.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library was founded in 1995 and since that time has provided 150 million free books to pre-school children. What began in the USA, has now spread to Canada, Australia, the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Dolly Parton has received many awards for her music career as well as for her public service, so when she says "let your determination be stronger than your fear" you know that she means it.

What is the purpose of all this, you might ask. Well, when we are starting out on a new venture, we are often plagued by self-doubt and trepidation.

"Can I?" "Will I?" "Is it even possible?" "I don't know anything about this, so how can I possibly succeed?"

Believe me, if a woman born fourth in a family of 12 children, in a one-roomed cabin in Tennessee can achieve success, you can, too!

It is so easy to let ourselves be overtaken by our fears of failure rather than focusing on the positive aspects.

The sharp learning curve we all encounter when we first join Wealthy Affiliate can be quite scary. But, we soon discover that there is a wealth of knowledge and experience available to us. We only have to ask.

Overcoming fear is one of the most important tasks we have, not only for new ventures, but in our ongoing lives. Even as we venture into this new opportunity, sometimes if can be overwhelming with all the things we must learn.

Building a website, writing compelling content, understanding SEO, researching keywords, becoming proficient at social media marketing, classified advertising, and the list goes on. We have never done these things before and we feel overwhelmed and the fear of failure once more emerges.

One step at a time!

Your determination to succeed will overcome your fear of failure. As will the help of those who are "in this with you".

Make a promise to yourself that you will let your determination be stronger than your fear.

I loved your post. First of all, I am a huge Dolly fan and I love what she is doing with books for children.
I love the inspiration of making your determination stronger than my fear. Great words to work by.

Thanks, Jenell!

So glad you found it helpful, Erlene. I love Dolly, too. My community theater helps to fund the Charlotte County Imagination Library - we've distributed over 100,000 books to preschoolers over the past 10 years.

Fantastic Jenell! You are doing such good for little readers to be. Love it!

Excellent analogy, Jenni! Dolly Parton is a legend and a saint, and yes, if she can do so can we all!

I hope you are having an excellent weekend!

Jeff😀

Yes, Jeff, Dolly Parton is incredible, and she certainly did.
I'm having one of those clean out the garage weekends, so glad to get to my computer for a break.

I love those kind of organizational days, Jenni! My friend and I have been going through things in some of my old building! Quite nerve-wracking and enlightening all at once!

Jeff

You're on point, Jenni
If we let our fears overcome our desire to succeed
What would be the point of our journey?
Motivating and inspiring

Indeed, Simone. I always think the journey is more important than the destination.

It really is, Jenni :)

I don't have fear only determination. Great post Jenni :-)

I'm not at all surprised, Lisa. Your determination is so obvious!

That is very kind of you to say, Jenni. I just try my best as much as I can :-)

Amen, you are right on point . Starting a new challenge is always the scariest because we want to
Be perfect and exact the first time out and it just won't happen because the experience just isn't there to back . We will stumble until we get it right. 😎

Indeed, Tony. We need to overcome our fears and determination and grit can help us do that.
