I'd like to get some feedback on a post I just made to my site: http://passivenessofin

Great article!

I like the article. I would include where the US visitors could report. I would also make your email address "aarne@passivenessofincome.com" a mailto: link.

I am like EAPoe..love the pic but I am a big fan of "V" lol

I thought to leave the email without link to prevent even a fraction of spam. :) Thanks for your comment there. =))

By the way, when you go to the US site, there a big button that state "File a complaint". I'm not sure if it can be more obvious, lol. :D

The FBI site is titled "IC3" I like the pic! reminds me of the film "V" and the Guy Faulks Costumes. Deffianately not too Opinionated, rather subdued, in fact. i would think!

Yes, but I though to use the official full name, IC3 tells people pretty much nothing unless you're familiar with it. Subdued, really? Maybe it needs a bit more punch. :)

It was to Kyle about something else. Sorry! bad placement. was not thinking!

No problem! :)

Uh Kyle, I am already "In" as far as I know. You got a payment July something! I just got a sign up. advertisement?!?!?

umm.. sorry? Don't understand this.

When you are on global business, page loads can make a huge difference how your visitors convert. The internet is getting faster and faster, people are making decisions when bro

Very important point. I always check mine with woorank to see if my site is loading slow or fast. Check it out if you haven't. There are a lot of variables there, and maybe it's not the most accurate, it's a tool that I use to help me judge and correct my websites.

Good tip, thanks. I see woorank tells a lot, but the speed thing... well, it's still from one point and we do not know where from the speed test is made.

But otherwise a good checklist tool to have. Cheers for that. :)

If you use Adsense, Google tells you straight out that you if your site is slow that you you should take steps to speed it up. I have read elsewhere that it is also part of ranking with Google. You came up with some great tips to speed up sites.

Actually, if you have a surge in traffic or disk space on shared servers like BlueHost and Hostgator, if you hit their thresholds they are going to "encourage" you to upgrade to a dedicated server. So much for unlimited anything! They have limits. And ask them why they advertise unlimited and they tell you that they do allow unlimited but up to X amount of storage bandwidth. Go figure!

Thanks for this post. And it makes sense that if your site doesn't load quickly enough, your readers are onto something else. Just think about your own browsing habits. Are you going to wait more than 10 seconds (probably less) for a website to load?

Best Regards,
Jim

I think Google only shows that information from one place of the world and it might be a place close to your hosting server. That tells only part of the whole. Remember that speed isn't same from all parts. I mean that if you are targeting a certain country, you need to check the speed from there because that's where your audience is. :) If you are hosting in US and your audience is in Europe, the speed might be much slower for *your* audience.

Sure shared hosting has limits. Bandwidth and simultaneous traffic handling are two totally different things. When you have 200 visitors or 2000 visitors at the same time, it's a totally different story. Or 20 and 200. What I'm talking here regarding traffic is actually those simultaneous visitors at the same time. That is what slows your site down dramatically if your hosting service can't handle the load. Bandwidth is only the amount of data your site is allowed to transfer on monthly basis. That in many cases really is unlimited these days.

The hosting companies just try to give all customers enough resources to have all sites up and running. The machines doesn't have limitless resources and if there are no limits, one site could took hundreds of sites down on shared hosting. That would be bad for the company and their customers that happen to have their sites on same server. The thresholds are there to benefit everyone. :) Sometimes a site just outgrows from shared hosting environment. Shared hosting has never been meant for high traffic sites. But when this happens, you should be happy. Especially if the traffic is converting, because you should have more than enough for upgrading to the next level. ;)

Great post, really interesting and useful! Thanks

Cheers! :)
