Beware of Broke People

I apologize for the highly inflammatory headline, however it is an important point I make.

But firstly before I make my point, I will tell those of you that don’t know that about ten years ago one of the internet’s most famous “Gurus” was a guy called Rich Jerk, this guy made an absolute fortune from similarly offensive and inflammatory headlines.

So on to my point………..

There are generally two reasons someone is broke;

Firstly they did not have the information required to make money.

Secondly they did not act on that information.

Just to be clear we have all been broke at some point, the entrepreneurial journey requires us to reach further than our skills can take us, in order to fail and learn, then move up.

The process of going from broke to financially independent usually takes about six months to two years with the correct information.

Now that you are a member of WA, you have access to all of the information required to make a fortune, should you chose to act on that information.

Some of you will use this new marketing knowledge to sell thousands of small value products, some of you will sell fewer high value products, some of you will make money from advertising.

Some people in WA are particularly ambitions and seek the security of multiple streams of income and leverage; it is these people I wanted to talk to today.

Yesterday I was on Facebook and I decided to log into one of those “work from home groups”, the group had 35,000 members and potentially may have been a good place to find a couple of new affiliates.

Once I started reading, OMG! The level of stupidity was beyond imagining.

Broke people, advising broke people on how to make money!

If you want advice on decorating, ask a decorator.

If you want to know how to swim, ask someone who can swim.

If you want to be self-employed, working from home, financially independent and secure listen to those who have already achieved it.

The businesses people were advertising with their flashy banners, had absolutely no sensible foundations at all, they were at best schemes and scams,

People were multi levelling gold at 30% over market prices and teaching others to do the same. People were joining traffic exchanges, so they can all spend all day looking at each others adverts, despite the fact that 90% of them are in the recruiting business. That is a little bit like a group of butchers getting together to sell each other meat.

One girl could not have been more insistent that all you had to do was click a button ten times a day and you would be wealthy beyond imagine, when asked to present a copy of a cheque she seemed to go a little quiet.

At the end of your marketing funnel there needs to be a real product or service that adds value to the consumer’s life. That product or service needs to be sold at a competitive market rate and ideally would be consumable, so as to enable you to sell to the same customer again and again.

The internet has changed business a great deal, however the fundamentals remain exactly the same, he/she who through his/her own efforts, efforts leveraged through others or through machines, brings the most value to the market, will make the most money in the long term.

There is no easy way to go from broke to rich, easy money does exist, you just need a lot of skill and money to get it, and obtaining the original money and skill was not easy, so there is no easy way.

What does exist is many simple ways, what you should be looking for is a way to make things more simple, easier to understand, easier to do, easier to afford. This is where the money is made, and this is the foundations of the WA business model.

So if you are looking to promote a business opportunity, the question should be “what does this business do to benefit a large amount of people?” is the price for that benefit reasonable.

Hi, Jeff...

Desperate people are often the victims of such scams because they are very vulnerable and need cash fast as you well know (it is clear to me that you understand quite a bit about the psychology of closing the deal or closing the sale)...

You are right that you have to have something of value that others want and then need. It is not rocket science, it's been the case for longer than you or I have been around hehe...

It takes a real entrepreneur to see the opportunities that surround him or her and then prepare a plan and execute that plan to work towards success...

There are too many that think it all will just fall into your lap - these are NOT entrepreneurs IMO...

I have had a million ideas over my lifetime but acted on only the ones that after further review seemed to have the best chance of success....

Of those I pursued, they worked out to one degree or another...Some real well, some...not...

The ones that did NOT work out that well all had one thing in common: Circumstances were beyond my control regarding controlling events, or the people involved were less than ethical, or it was a case of bad luck, in some cases...

Win or lose, from each I learned something, either what to do or what not to do....This is a cumulative thing or it should be...If you keep on hitting a wall you have to learn not to drive into that wall....

Find a way around that wall, under that wall, or over that wall...

If you can do that, you can succeed...Wealthy Affiliate is that workaround (one workaround anyway)...

Here you have a complete proven roadmap to navigate your way to success. What they teach works...It is that simple...

In my case, I have learned a lot regarding the online world here, and I appreciate this...

Taken together with my other business experiences over the years, the additional training I have sought outside this venue, the chances of success are increased greatly for me, and I appreciate this a bunch!

Going back to broke people...

Broke people are seldom as broke as they think, and if you give them a path, show them the way, and believe in their potential, they most likely will not be broke for long...

They say you are who you hang around with, and to a degree this is true...It is also true that given the chance most people would not be broke...

Offering them a chance to escape their 'brokeness' in an ethical manner is a top priority for me...This is one program that I can do so with, there are a bunch that I would not promote...

On those sites you mention where most of the people are looking for salvation, it is how we present what we have that can help them and make a difference in their lives and in ours as well...

Just my thoughts...That and 5 bucks gets you a nice cup of coffee!

Cheers!
Dave : )

Thank you for taking the time to add value, you are absolutely right in what you say.

Let's keep in touch

Definitely we will Jeff...Cheers! Dave : )

Great information, but you need to know that a lot of people need money right away that's why they still fall on scams scheme ,unfortunately are becoming more these days. I had the same issue, how may scams I had? God, many.
Sometimes I wish to have some tools or something else to just stop these scams, but no.
I really don't blame them, when you need money you will believe in everything they tell you.
Anyway, thanks for share it.

Thank you Otolo, I new somebody 14 years ago when I was setting up a business, he was having financial difficulties and he asked what I was up to and I explained, he said how long will it take to pay really good money, I said two years.

He then said to me that two years was too long and he needed fast money.

I spoke to him last year, told him how things had gone, he still had financial difficulties, I did not, I told him I was starting a new project and that once again it would take about two years to pay really good money.

He said that was no good, he needed fast money.

People who chase fast money never get it and spend their lives chasing something that does not exists.

You made a great long term decision joining WA.

I really agree with you, but I understand also these people because when you really need money believe me, you don't think ,no power strong and no mind oriented to not fall for any promise of quick money.
Why scams have success now? Because a lot of people need really quick money: debts, no food, no money and in this world you need money for everything. It will be very hard to end this because not everyone think the same or wants to work and wait many days to start to earn money.
We are all different and some of us don't want to work, they just need money. Scams will always be more powerful unfortunately.
I pray God everyday to stay strong and work hard in my actual job and I'm really happy to finally found a good option free of scams: Wealthy Affiliate.
All the best and have a nice weekend.

you too!

Great post. Much of it should be common sense, but unfortunately, too many people are looking for ways to be wealthy/ successful overnight with minimal effort.

I joined WA back in April 2016, but for various reasons only started devoting myself to it seriously at the end of October. At that time, I figured I would work at it without any real expectation of making a single penny before the middle of 2017, allowing myself about 8 months to get rolling without putting too much pressure on myself from unrealistic expectations. I'm starting to be concerned that t will take longer than that, but I am not going to worry about it too much. I know it takes time and I also know that if I stick with the training, it'll work out eventually.

I'm so glad that I found WA instead of yet another scam. I don't blame the people who are falling for the various schemes out there because I know what it's like to sometimes have one's hope for something better overwhelm more rational thought, but this all just inspires me to find those people who are willing to work at something real and help them along their path.

Teaching and supporting are very rewarding activities, I am sure you do a great job of it. What is the niche you are promoting?

Nothing terribly exciting....I have two sites, both in their early stages. One was made for the affiliate bootcamp and the other was made just for fun, experimenting and learning but I have stuck with it. That one deals with various aspects of "geek culture" such as games, toys, comics and movies. It started off more specifically focused on superheroes (as they are popular at the moment and I thought it could be fun to show my kids...) but I broadened it a bit.

Have you managed to generate many sales in that niche? it sounds like a difficult one to tackle, does sound fun though.

No, no sales at all, though I haven't really been trying. Mainly I have just been focused on getting some content up. I don't really expect it to be very profitable. I know there are other niches that would probably work better from a financial point of view, but I'm not terribly knowledgeable about any of them.

There are easier ways, but if you enjoy what you are doing then that's the important thing.

Agreed we have all been there. What I find interesting that people complain about their situation but won't lift a finger to change it.

I am absolutely with you there.

Being broke is not a good thing. I remember being there when I was a student, and I swore to myself that I would not be there again. So far I have been fortunate. Companies like you describe are what makes Wealthy Affiliate successful. You need the good with the bad. Unfortunately, people do get burnt and mislead.

Thanks for your contribution Harvey.

Scammers know to target broke people because broke people are desperate to make money. So in their desperation, they overlook the warning signs and over estimate their chances of success.

what you described going on in the work from home groups is what those programs tell them to do to recruit--there are some legit companies out there but you need to look hard to find them. some of the companies may start out with good intentions but along the way get greedy

I am not against companies that recruit and build teams, I am a member of one of those companies, and we are endorsed by the US president. I am only against schemes that sell themselves as legitimate businesses, but don't have a product of any real value, or are selling products way above the true value.

Feel free to add me on http://facebook.com/jeffwhenmanuk

I agree with you there--some companies start out with good intentions and price their products reasonably then think they can increase the price by changing the compensation plan because they get greedy and they price themselves right out of the market

Yes, your headline is so true! There are so many people out there, they claim to be already successful, but they are only wannabes... and giving many advices!
And I also know many of those with the ten clicks per day! :)

Thank you Gerlinde, and thank you for the facebook add.

Thank you, too!
