Product Review How To

After commenting on many member's blog posts with product reviews I decided to share my own product review how to, and my reviews rank much higher because I am providing more information and fewer products to my readers. Avoid just inserting a lot of products in your posts and provide more information is the key to more success not only for ranking, but also for more consistent sales.

How To Write A Product Review

Since one of our members had a difficult time understanding this concept of product reviews I decided to try simplify this strategy for him, and here is how I write my product reviews.

  • First paragraph insert your post keyword like any other post describing how this type of product benefits your reader, and bold your keyword as normal.
  • Second paragraph insert your product image with your keyword in the alt tag, and write a paragraph about this specific product and what it can do for your reader.
  • Third paragraph write why you would purchase this product for yourself and focus on the features of the product and insert a button taking them to this product page.
  • Fourth paragraph add your next product if you are promoting more than one product in this post, and continue doing this until you have no more than three products in your post
  • Last Paragraph you want to use your keyword in the heading and write an ending to your product review for your readers.
  • Instead of writing your product reviews in the old-fashion formal method write it in a more friendly structure appearing less spammy and sharing more information with your readers for more success with your product reviews.
  • For the best ranking your should be focusing on between 1000 to 2000 words per post, and even though this might seem a lot, now the search engines are ranking your website more trusting and an authority with longer posts than in the past.

By the time you complete this product reveiw you should have a post which contains approximately 90% information and 10% products for the best product review, and in fact this is the general guidelines professional authoriative bloggers handed down to me when I first started in this business, and it has been working for me ever since.

Product Review Ranking

Many of you are providing more products than actually information which will not rank nearly as high as going the other direction. I notice most of you are using the old product review strategy offering many products for your readers to choose from, and this might give you more opportunity for more sales, but at the same time you could be ranking much higher with my strategy. As time has gone by the search engines are ranking product review sites different from in the past, so if the search engines find more links on your post than information this does hurt your ranking.

Blog Posts

When you write blog posts on your niche you are providing more information which provides more value to your readers and the search engines, so why not combine articles and product reviews as one blog post? I have been for years writing my training articles with product reviews in my articles instead of just going one way or the another, and this will improve your ranking with more information which search engines really want to see. How are you providing enough of your keyword in your product reviews when you are actually confusing the search engines with so many products and so little information. Most of your images are product images, so how many of you are inserting your keyword in your alt tags instead of the product? These also are overwhelming to your reader with way too many choices, and you might be making some sales, but how many people are leaving your website more confused than when they come on?

Don't Be Lazy

The old fashion filling your blog post with products with just enough information on each product is actually taking the easy way out, so don't be lazy, and consider writing an article about your keyword with lots of information how these products will help your reader. In your post you can recommend your products and add a review on each product and still accomplish writing product reviews. This also is a great strategy for longer blog posts which provides more room for images with your keyword in the alt tag, and with longer posts this also gives you the opportunity to share more products without affecting your ranking negatively. You will find this works much better not only for ranking, but also for more sales by spreading your products out instead of having them all lined up one after another like the old fashion product reviews of yesterday.

How Many Products Should You Review

You will experience more sales by limiting your products to no more than three per post, and this is just enough to interest your readers without overwhelming them with too many products. Too many products also can give you the reputation of being a spam website instead of an informational website, and this is the last thing you want to have your readers think when visiting your website.

Consider When You Go Shopping

When you go shopping how does too many product choices in the stores affect you, and I am sure most of you if you are honest will admit this does overwhelm you, The key is to start thinking like a shopper instead of a business owner, so limiting your posts to only three products is actually going to provide more value to your readers than more. You also don't want people to think you are only interested in them for their money, so by using my strategy combining information about your niche keyword and product reviews in one post is going to give your business a much better reputation.

Product Review How To

I have found this to be a much more productive strategy than the way many of you are using right now, and your readers are going to be more persuaded to purchase your products with focusing more on how these products will benefit them. I am sure some of you old-timers set in your ways will not be as anxious to change, but in this business if you are not willing to be flexible to change, you are losing out on more sales. People are much wiser from in the past when they go on a website, and if they are feeling they are being sold to instead of being helped they are not going to buy from you.

Just something for you to consider,

Jeff

I have a tip for all of you to start seeing an income from your very first sale, and that is to choose a product or service that people will be buying month after month.

As long as they are buying the product or service you will be guaranteed an income, and with every new sale your income will gradually increase

Jeff

Amazing information..
I haven’t promoted products yet I’m almost hitting those grounds on training, thank you for that info, I will absolutely keep that in mind, plus I hate it when I’m overwhelmed when reading about products. Around 20-30 links in one website and tons of different products (that is not helping me that I will buy any sooner) more so I leave that website it’s a huge turnoff..

Thanks again Jeff.

Wishing you the best of luck

Benjy

Hello,

I really know what you are saying about all those products turning you off, and most people are the same so by doing it this way you are providing a friendly informational blog post with a product review

I updated this post today since one member seemed to be very upset with this strategy, and I just could not help him understand this is a much better method than the way they used to do product reviews.

I provided a short guide on the update for this member and for all of you to help you understand it better, and I apologize if I did not make it clear in the first post

Jeff

I do product reviews a bit differently -- I only review one at a time, so then only one product is listed. If I do more than one product in my niche website, I'll do a blog post first and then add a half-dozen products. For example, I did a "history of ceramics" post and then put in several niche-related pieces of pottery from the affiliate company.

I just did a review of a book that helps teach you how to write, and listed only the book for sale at the end.

I am big on reviewing only one product in my own posts, but if you are a comparison website you would need to be using more than one product to compare for your readers

I do the same thing Jeff. I usually only review one product or just a few per post. I now usually write 1500 plus words for each post even if it is for one product. The posts with more products are longer.

I don't just write about usability, price, appearance etc. I write about how this product can solve common problems or provide value. I write posts such as "How to ..." and show how the product can fill that need or "What is the best..." and give my own experience with it.

Great advice!

Jessica

Thank you, Jessica

I did update this post with my simple but effective strategy since one member just could not understand how this could be more effective than pushing a ton of products in one post

I use the same strategy as you pretty much, I find you can do a product review in any post on any topic with this method without appearing to be spammy
