Pins-Boards-Pinterest

This post is dedicated to Audrey who made the request for me to share a little about Pinterest, and this is just a basic tutorial with how I have been using my own pins-boards and Pinterest for my own business.

Mentoring With Jeff's Pinterest Monthly Stats

  • Monthly Views 39.2 K
  • Followwers 584
  • Impressions 47.1K
  • Saves 213
  • Link Clicks 83

Now I must admit I am not putting nearly as much effort and time using Pinterest for my business as my other social media business pages, but for the time I do put in I am more than happy with my monthly stats.

Pinterest Account

The first thing you want to do is create your Pinterest account, and you want to be sure you create a Pinterest business account rather than just a personal account. Creating the account is really easy to do, so I am not going to get into that into any detail, I just wanted you to be sure to create your account as a business account.

Verifying Your Website

Pinterest for a while has offered the opportunity to verity your website, and to be honest with you I have not done this myself. To verify your account they want you to insert a code into your theme editor, and I chose not to do this because when you insert coding into your theme editor you are taking the chance of breaking your website. Now what you can do and I recommend if you really want to verify your website contact support with the code, and allow them to insert the code for you. I used to insert codes into my theme editor at one time, but now I no longer insert codes for the reason it could break your site if there are any errors in the code you insert.

Codes & Plugins

I believe the fewer codes in your theme editor the better your website is going to operate for you, and the same goes with plugins I would never install more than 10 plugins at the most on your website. I usually have 7 plugins or less on my websites, so I suggest you choose the plugins you need the most to install on your website.

What Are Boards

To get started you have to create your first board, and this is just a place to store your images you share on Pinterest. So your first board should be of course for your blog posts, and you can name your boards anything you desire to. I named my blog post board "Jeff's Pins", and I chose to do this instead of naming my board "Mentoring With Jeff' to give my board a bit of a mystery what people were going to find when they viewed my board.

Creating Other Boards

Now you can go with just your board with your blog posts, but I have found by creating other boards, and saving other people's images into these boards has been the reason for my success, despite I am not spending much time actually on the site. So here is some of my other boards I have created, and I have chosen my other boards on my interests, as well as what other people are interested in as well.

  • Jeff s pins
  • Gift ideas
  • Inspirational signs
  • Business tips
  • Pets
  • Health tips
  • Dog health & tips
  • Traveling
  • Videos
  • Gardneing
  • Animals

Feel free to use any of my boards for your own boards if you like, and since these have done well for me I am sure they will do well for you as well.

What Are Pins

Pins are nothing but the images you are saving on the boards you created, and if you think of these as posts on your other social media business pages you pretty much use the same strategy. By pinning other people's images or pins on your boards those people usually will return the favor.

Following Boards

Now you can and want to start following other people's boards, and this will entice them to follow your boards as well. Like all your social marketing pages the more you give the more your will receive, so these are the basic strategies to get started using Pinterest.

Pinterest Browser Extension

I have made adding images or pins to my boards very easy by adding the Pinterest Browser Extension, so all I have to do is click on the browser extension and I can add any images on any website to any of my boards without having to go on the website. I really do find browser extensions to be a major part of my social medial marketing success, so this is a strategy you might find you want to try to see if you like how it works for you as well.

How I Promote Your Website On Pinterest

When I am on any of your websites through Site Comments I will add at least one of your images on Pinterest along with sharing your blog post on my other social media pages. With my browser extension you don't even need a Pinterest sharing button for me to do this, but for my other social media pages you do need sharing buttons for me to share. I have noticed some of you have gone with following buttons instead of sharing buttons, but for me I have found the sharing buttons to work the best.

Site Comments

Site comments is one of my daily business tasks I try to do everyday I possibly can to help you, and I also benefit when you return the favor and comment on my website as well. Comments and sharing does impress the search engines if you are doing it enough, and others are returning the favor, so by us working as a team doing both of these using Site Comments is going to help all of us become more of an authority site with the search engines. You see the more comments and shares your site receives provides the search engines with the feedback your site is providing high-quality information searchers like and find helpful, and the search engines want to keep their searchers happy.

How This Can Add Up

When you are using this strategy regularly sharing and commenting on other people's posts on social media more often they will return the favor, and the main reason is they want to encourage you to keep sharing and commenting on their posts so this forms an auto-posting strategy.

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Linkedin
  • Pinterest
  • Instagram
  • YouTube channels

I don't use all the pages above and neither do you, so what you want to do is to find out which pages are providing you the most shares and comments. You then want to focus on those pages regularly for the most success, and even if you are only using let's say three of the sites above and receiving 50 shares most days how much is that going to add up too?

My Most Productive Site

My most productive site is Twitter, I have the most followers on Twitter and for my business it has been the easiest site for me to get the most shares day after day. You will see posts I posted as much as a whole week ago, and this is because my followers just keep retweeting my posts day after day. Now this does not mean Twitter is going to be the most productive site for you, and if you have a lot of friends and family on Facebook that might be your most productive site instead?

Pins-Boards-Pinterest

Pinterest as you can see by my stats is very easy to use without being time-consuming as other social media pages, and if you use Site Comments on WA you can easily be staying active without even going on the website. Every little thing you do adds up to increasing your relationship with the search engines, and the more things you do the quicker search engines are going to start noticing you.

Blog Posts Are Just A Marketing Tool

Many members might not realize that blogging is just another type of marketing tool, and your blog is going to be the most effective for you not to earn an income, but to form a relationship with your readers and search engines. This is what content marketing is all about, so if you think of blogging as more of a marketing tool, instead of the key to earning an income you are going to understand this business more clearly. So don't expect to start seeing money flowing into your bank account just by writing tons and tons of blog posts, but instead accept that earning an income online comes from using a combination of marketing strategies together.

  • Content Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Email Marketing (Newsletters)
  • Product Reviews
  • Video Marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • eCommerce
  • Networking Marketing

Thanks so much for sharing this. This month I will try to focus on one social media which is Pinterest. Then I will go to the next one which is Twitter and Facebook. There's so much to learn and sometimes I get overwhelmed.
Glad we have all the supports we need here. We just have to keep at it.
I'll follow your pinterest acc.

Cheers,
Ferra

Hello, Ferra

How is your social media marketing going for you, I know you are busy as a bee with your websites and family

You got me started on pinterst and now I've got a handle on it and love it as a tool, learnt some new tricks here that I am not implementing and need to follow through on. The world of marketing is very overwhelming to me, I just keep trying. PS. I'm still not one with Twitter the force is deffinitely not with me :) Thanks for the post Jeff.

Hello, Again

Twitter is not for everyone and every business, so use what works for you and your business the best.

I am happy you are doing well with Pinterest, and this post has given you even more strategies to use

Jeff

Online marketing takes time to understand, and it is a part of all our learning process in this business

Thanks Jeff for sharing this blog, when I was working to create my website Pinterest account, I got to the point to verify it, I didn't do that step either for the same reason you well explained here, and I'm happy you share that on this blog.

I using Pinterest to share my new content on a couple of boards and I see good results from it.

I understand you not verifying your website, and I think they need to come up with a better way instead of expecting us to insert code into our websites

You can build a large network really easy with Pinterest, and like you, it does not take a lot of boards to experience success

Great explanation thnx for sharing

I am happy this was not confusing for you and the other members, but I did try to explain everything in the simplest terms

Great Jeff,

Thank you, Sir
Take care n be safe

Jeff
