Choosing Your Niche

I notice many of you are choosing your niche and then are finding out the affiliate programs pays very little, and some of you are even becoming frustrated searching for programs within your niche. Even worse some of you might not have researched to find out if there is a high demand for what you decided to promote, so you really need to research all of these in a combination at the same time before investing your time and money into your business. I have no idea how Kyle is training you through Wealthy Affiliate's training program, but I do know the training programs I had taken in the past did not fully prepare you to choose the best products and affiliate programs.

Researching Your Niche

I have seen posts from members recommending you choose something you are passionate about, and I agree you need to choose a business industry you will enjoy writing about and learning more about as your business grows. I have also seen a few members advising people to choose something unique, and that is great for low competition as long as there are enough people with the interest that you can earn an income. So you really need to use Jaaxy and Google Trends to research how many people are searching for whatever you are considering building your business around, you can use Google Trends to find out what people have been searching for up to an entire year. This is a great asset knowing what you are building your business around has people searching for the past year, I didn't use this strategy when I started my own business, I went through 6 business websites before I find one that worked for me, and I am here at WA trying to help the members avoid doing the same thing as me.

How To Earn An Income

This tutorial is more for those of you interested in earning an income rather than just to earn some extra money now and then, but even those of you who this is more of a hobby than a business you still need to do the research to make sales.

No one can honestly tell you what products and services to promote that is going to earn you an income, but what I can share with you is some things to consider when choosing your products and services.

1. Choose products and services people are going to purchase from you over and over again, and avoid those that are going to be a one-time purchase. Now the exception to this rule is if you are promoting an expensive product that is in big demand you can get away with breaking this rule, but most of you I imagine are not choosing products and services that are expensive enough to earn you an income with fewer sales.
2. The majority of services are what is referred to as a recurring income, and that simply means what I just shared with you, people will purchase from you regularly.
3. Autoship programs are a good niche to promote for a steady income from your very first sale, so if you focus on products you purchase at least monthly these will be good products to promote.
4. Subscription Boxes are another good program for beginners, and they work much like the autoship programs above providing you an income as long as your customer is subscribed to their subscription box.
5. The majority of services are good choices because you sign up to pay on a regular payment plan which is money in the bank for you.

As a beginner it is going to take you time to get traffic to your business, so these are your best options to see results quicker. Otherwise, you are going to end up like many of the beginners and become frustrated and overwhelmed, you might be thinking what am I doing wrong or what do I need to change about my business. When actually the problem is neither of those, but the problem is it takes time to get enough traffic to see steady sales from products people only purchase now and then.

Choosing Affiliate Programs

I know the majority of you are joining affiliate programs such as Amazon which pays 4% commission and less, so with less traffic you will be having less sales and promoting programs paying such a low commission you won't be earning an income for maybe as long as 5 years.

• Choose affiliate programs that pay at least 15%
• Join affiliate networks such as CJ Affiliate which is an easy way to weed out the low-paying companies and find the higher-paying companies.
• Contact companies directly inquiring about being a partner, so if you are promoting cameras contact companies such as Canon and Nikon first as a partner or an affiliate.
• Promoting one brand is something very few affiliates will do, but if you can partner with a good brand you often can receive many benefits affiliates can't provide. Coupons, special sales and discounts, and even gift cards.
• Online stores will receive more traffic quicker than most blog sites, and you can add an affiliate store right on your WordPress site at any time.
• For $9.00 per month you can do dropshipping with Shopify's Buy Button plan, you get everything you need on Shopify and you just insert the code on your website after you have your dropshipping products listed. This is a great opportunity for someone with a blog with traffic to add a store through Shopify instead of creating an online store on their WordPress site with the plugin Woo Commerce. Both work very well, you just need to decide which one works better for you.
• Shopify store plans will start at $29.00 per month which is the starter plan, but then you have to promote your business site and your Shopify store so this is something to consider before going that route.

For those of you who are already promoting your niche you still can add as many affiliate programs as you want to promote, but be sure they are related to your niche. So if you do add any new affiliate programs consider the tips I have included above, and especially avoid any that are not paying at the least 15%. Many of you might think there are not many companies paying such commission to affiliates, but my online store has affiliate programs that only pay 15% and higher plus I have a list of more to add to my store so there are programs you just have to do the work to find them. Affiliate programs are always free to join if they are legitimate, so any affiliate program that charges you a fee more likely is a scam.

Affiliate Networks

Affiliate networks are very convenient for affiliate marketers, but they do pay less than if you join many of the companies directly if they even will accept affiliates outside of the network they are signed up with. Many times you have no choice than to go with a network to find the best programs within your niche, and you can go with digital products as well such as ClickBank that does provide some programs that will pay you as much as 70% commission.

Autoships & Subscription Boxes

Autoship and subscription boxes usually will not pay a very high commission, but they are a good program for beginners. So I suppose this is one exception to the 15% commission rule, but if you are going this route choose a program such as Joy Crate which has many subscription boxes for you to promote which will increase your income with multiple subscription boxes in one place.

What Is On My Mind

Once you get this far you are then ready to start learning how to get traffic to your website, but you need to get everything setup with your niche and affiliate programs before you even begin worrying about traffic and sales. I recommend beginners start out listing their business with Google My Business, but I am finding out most of the members are not aware of this program Google provides to small business owners and bloggers.
