Are You Listening To Your Readers-Understanding Your Readers
I am noticing some members are focusing on how much traffic they are receiving, but instead you might want to use Google Analytics to learn about your website visitors?
Traffic But No Sales?
I hear this all the time, people become frustrated with plenty of traffic without many sales. When your website is in this situation, you are getting a clue changes are in need. There is something much more important than the amount of traffic you are receiving, what I focus the most on Googly Analytics is next.
I am more concerned about how long people stay on my site, you can get sales with less traffic than you think? You only need one person to buy from your site, so making changes that will keep them there longer is more important to me.
What Are Your Readers Telling You?
When they are not sticking around long, you need to consider what you can change? Every website is different of course, but here are some common things to consider?
Writing Over Your Readers Heads
Some of you more likely are higher educated, but the majority of your readers might not be? The majority of people visiting most websites are the average working people, so if you are using words they don't understand they are going to become overwhelmed.
Too Many Niche Technical Vocabulary
If someone is interested but has no prior experience too many technical words might confuse them, so trying to use the simplest terminology is your best strategy. Many people prefer short and to-the-point information, so avoid dragging out your post with too many technical terms unless you are going to explain what they mean.
Avoid Too Many Facts And Statistics
When you read anything with too many facts and statistics do you get bored, you will find this can be something to use sparingly. Only use facts and statistics that are useful information to your reader, otherwise, they might not stick around long.
Are You Providing Enough Information?
I have found it takes approximately 1000 words or more to accomplish this effectively, as you get more experience this will be a piece of cake. Focus on answering your reader's questions, we often overlook this focusing too much on whatever we want to say.
Did This Help Anyone?
In my next post, I am going to extend this topic. You will learn simple ways to keep your readers on your website longer, and you want to aim for 15 minutes or longer. The longer the better, you will find this will help you start seeing more sales.
